Despite the hardware limitations and a handful of odd design choices, Astral Chain is one of the best new IPs to hit in recent years and one deserving the attention of every Switch owner.

At first I thought this was an underrated game, but seeing the reviews I know realised it is actually OVERrated. It's a cool game and very fun to play, but the story is predictable not that interesting and the general progression feels off. It's the classic "mid" game that you might enjoy if you like this specific type of gameplay and the cyberpunk setting (which is fine btw, not every game has to be a masterpiece). Overall it's a solid 7.5/10 and I liked it more than some games that are 9/10

Astral Chain è un buon titolo per Nintendo Switch. Colpisce soprattutto per l’ambientazione futuristica, molto curata e originale. Anche la grafica è buona per l’hardware della console e rende bene nelle fasi d’azione.
Il punto un po’ più debole è la storia, che è interessante ma non sempre riesce a coinvolgere quanto l’ambientazione.
In generale rimane un action solido.

Astral Chain is set in a somewhat boring and repetitive demon world you have to return to a bit too often, but that’s the only tiny downside to this daring and triumphant new Platinum adventure. It has everything that makes action adventures fun and adds exceptional detective phases that offer a welcome diversion from the wild action.

Astral Chain is an excellent game, better than the Bayonetta Series from the same studio. It is longer, deeper, has a whole range of actions: investigations, side quests, exploration (mini but quite pleasant in this world), action that is very original and technical with the legions. The artwork is excellent , the atmosphere, the story, the universe, are unique, well-done and the alternance between action and more relaxed phases is a success. Playing this game is a wonderful experience. Must-have in your Switch collection.

As someone who plays alot of action games. There is no battle system like this out there. Completely innovative, fast, fluid, and deep. It's a joy to play. A true hidden gem as a Switch Exclusive. This game deserves more eye balls.

Astral Chain is PlatinumGames newest adrenaline shot, that's clearly inspired by a lot of previous titles from the studio. It takes the best of out of all those games and delivers a kick-ass adventure that's a must play for the fans.

Astral Chain is one of PlatinumGames' finest acts this generation, cementing itself as yet another stellar exclusive for Nintendo Switch. It doesn't reach the heights of excellence achieved by Yoko Taro's NieR: Automata, but can more than hold its own thanks to an excellent setting, experimental combat and so, so much style it hurts.

It's tough not to consider Astral Chain something of a small disappointment, especially when you know Platinum Games' talent for beat 'em ups. We not only highly commend the fight mechanics in this latest title from Takahashi Taura, but also its universe — original and supported by a high-class artistic direction. However, the overall game is pulled down somewhat by a structure of missions that doesn't match the studio's desire to mix the beat 'em up and investigative genres, and further by large approximations and other technical problems — all of which have a significant impact on the enjoyment of the game.

If you are an adult with a Switch you should play this. It's not a kids game, and it's just very mature given the fact that we're talking about the Switch here.

Spoiler-free. Most overrated game on Metacritic, probably. - Story gets only told via text documents and still many things won't get explained. - Silent protagonist ist super pointless in this scenario. - Camera movement is borderline broken. - Fight-System is okay and sometimes fun. - Graphics are very good for a Switch game.
