DeGeneres doesn’t have much to say in For Your Approval, other than a limp plea for the public’s adoration. At least there would be something compelling to write about if she’d doubled down on an asshole persona. Instead, we’re left with a wishy-washy hour that asks us to care about DeGeneres again, without giving us any reason to in the first place.

Meticulously plotted and boasting some of the show’s best jokes, Season 3 of Hacks will have you panting for the next series as the final credits roll.

Throughout More Feelings, Youssef’s carefully paced, casually delivered jokes are the framework for his own clear-eyed observations. This isn’t just a comedy special, but a call to recognize and honor our shared humanity.

The writing is as sharp, bonkers, and laugh-out-loud funny as ever.

Her prowess as a physical comedian feels so natural, too; Slate is a born performer. And yet that self-deprecation is still there, keeping Slate’s schtick from ever growing grating.

Watching Workin’ Man, there’s an endearing familiarity to Slay and his set. Be sure to bask in Slay’s frank attitude, unassuming demeanor, and hilarious comedy. You’ll have a good time.

I’ll say this for Pete Davidson’s new Netflix special, Turbo Fonzarelli: At least it’s actually funny. It’s not particularly clever, or surprising, but I laughed, which is more than I can say about his last effort, Alive From New York.

She concludes the special with signature incisiveness, reminding us why Wolf will always have a reputation as a vulgar, vibrant truth teller.

There’s a real craftsmanship to the structure of Something Special, which for the most part feels loosey goosey until everything comes together exquisitely at the close. Gadsby proves in their new hour that they can do a breezy, feel-good show with aplomb.

The lion’s share of the time is spent on the many facets of The Carol Burnett Show, and these are by far the most engaging parts of the special. ... We’re also treated to some spectacular performances from Broadway belters Kristen Chenoweth, Bernadette Peters, and Sutton Foster, among others. You can tell they’re having so much fun singing up there and celebrating Burnett, and as a result their numbers are genuinely a joy to watch.
