Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor10
Oct 10, 2014
Just finished this game with 80% completion, so just rounding up a few collectibles and side missions left. I have to say I never thought there would be a good LOTR/tolkien related game, This really proved me wrong. Incredible game, with lots to do, amazing gameplay and wow is it pretty. Played on Xbox One. Sound is also top notch, and the music was a surprise if I'm honest - I expected a LOTR/Hobbit copycat, but the composer has used a different style which really works, whilst also taking influences from the films here and there. bravo! Loved this game. I take it they're going to make another (ending is a giveaway) and I hope they do. My only nitpick with this game was that it would have been nice to visit some locations in middle earth. Now I know this is a game about mordor, but maybe in the next one give us some variety? There's plenty of places in middle earth we would LOVE to go. That said, both maps you get in this game give 2 different types of maps to traverse, one barren and dead, and one lush and green which was nice. I will be buying all the DLC to help support this great game, and hopefully new franchise. 10/10.

Best in the series so far. Ignore all the negative reviews, they complain about small things and are generally dumb reviews. this is some amazing storytelling.

This game is one of the greatest games i have ever played. if not the BEST GAME EVER. i'm not a fan of GTA, I like a game with a bit more depth and story, and a bit more rough. The main character, Marston, is one of the most loveable characters I've come across in media. He's got a lot of history, and is trying to do things to make life better for his family. an x-gunslinger has been done many times before in hollywood, but this game sheds another light on the whole cliche. If you like a good story, with an awesome ending (you will cry.) buy this game. As for the gameplay, every moment I've spent in this game I have thoroughly enjoyed. The game has an open world, and it's BEAUTIFUL. one of the best looking games around. I was so surprised to see such a big open world with such good graphics this gen. Halfway through the game you cross the border into **** it makes the map even bigger. wow. The horse riding is amazing. sound design and music fit perfectly and make you feel like you're really there. the shooting is perfect, especially dead-eye which slows down time and makes you feel like a bad ass gunslinger. Theres so much to this game i can't really talk about it all. Go watch a video review. Theres side quests and things that are so awesome. so many items to collect, horses to break, bandits to capture, items to loot, animals to kill, places to explore... everything you need in a game, and an AMAZING story. BUY IT.

I love this game. For those who are fans of LOTR, do not avoid this game because of mixed reviews. I for one was put off by reviewers such as IGN, but don't let them fool you. This is one of the best games I've played in a while, and the best LOTR game yet without a doubt. The gameplay is really addictive and fun, and you feel really powerful. The loot is also great, I love looking around trying to find little pathways to chests and loot. The only complain I have is with the characters, they are very weak. As an avid Tolkien fan, the characters in this game do not do the story any justice. They are very pale in comparison. I would have liked to of had some flashbacks to explain their story or something, so we got more out of them. That aside, it's great to visit locations not seen in the movies or other games, such as mirk-wood. Some characters which you read about in the books also appear, such as Radagast the Brown wizard, which really surprised me, and I loved. Although the dialogue is a bit weak in places, it's amazing to see some of these characters brought to life. We also get to see eagles and other creatures (not mentioning to avoid spoilers) talking like they should, which doesn't come across childish for once. I did say you get to see characters not seen before in this game... I also meant to say you see characters from the movies too such as frodo, gandalf, ect. If you liked dragon age (think more dragon age 2 with a decent story) and you like LOTR, you will LOVE this game. Trust me. The story isn't no way near as good as the LOTR trilogy, but it's still interesting and will keep you hooked to see where the adventure unfold. Without spoiling too much, you do come across some good bits of LOTR lore that hasn't been seen yet on screen. This is a linear game, so don't expect free roam. It plays like dragon age, where you progress from what part of the map to the next, and are free to explore those parts again when you finish a level. As for length, I'm around 6-8 hours into the game and i'm only half way through, if that, so it's a legnthy game. There is also challenge levels, which I haven't had the chance to explore yet. These levels take place in southern middle earth (the game takes place in the north) which is great. I pray one day we get to free roam middle earth when the war for the ring rages on, but until then this is a solid LOTR RPG that fans of the series should not pass on. Avoid the nay sayers, buy it.

without a doubt the best game i have ever played. i've sinked 30 hours into this game in 3 days. i can't get enough of it. the world, the stories the gameplay, everything pulls you in. i don't have any complaints. (the conversations lap over each other sometimes, if not rarely, but this will no doubt be fixed with a patch. and as i said, it happens very rarely.) buy this game. if you're serious about gaming, get it. if you're not serious about gaming, buy it and walk around picking flowers, making potions and just do whatever you want. this game is for everyone.

this game is a load of tripe. there's nothing new. i expected a totally revamped game (sequels at least change graphics... MW3 does not do anything new) but was annoyed when i found new guns...maps... and a new mode. wtf? i bought this game 4 years ago. i dont want dlc for £45!!! and the fact retailers sell it for more than the usual price. RUBBISH. the campaign is dire and tries so hard. can't wait for skyrim, where game devs actually try hard to make something different to their previous game. come of IW, CHANGE SOMETHING!!
