NES Remix8

NES Remix is more than a simple compilation of bite-sized challenges from your favorite old-school NES titles; it's almost a rite to passage for anyone that grew up enveloping themselves in the fun atmosphere thee games created during our childhoods. Sure, I would have rather used my Wii remote than the GamePad, but that didn't cut back on my fun any less. If you're into this sort of thing, it shouldn't be difficult to give up $15 for this.

Pokemon Rumble U6

I'm not sure I entirely understand why this game is hated so much. However at the same time, it's not like the game gets a free pass for its shortcomings. The basics: Some toy-store employees drop a box of Pokémon toys, which proceed to float downstream. When they leave said stream, they set off on a journey to find the other toys. On this quest they face off against each other in different-themed arenas with a handful of challenges to accomplish. To enhance the game experience, players can scan real-life NFC Pokémon figures to battle. The core gameplay is simple and accessible enough; players mash the B and A buttons on the Wii U GamePad to attack enemy Pokémon toys, and can occasionally use the touch-screen to blast away at enemies provided they collect enough yellow shards. Three other players can join in with Wii remotes turned to their sides like NES controllers. It's easy and simplistic enough for anyone old or young to get into, but this accessibility only goes so far in the case of long-term appeal and enjoyability. Playing it alone can get boring, but I can also imagine multi-player sessions ending quickly. Long story short, it's one of those games that are fun in short bursts, and possibly addicting too. Pokémon fans (or fans of games that are fun in short action-filled bursts) should give it a try. Anyone else looking for a deeper experiences should look elsewhere.

BioShock Infinite10

BioShock Infinite is definitely one of the greatest games I've played in the last few years, and I'm having a tough time discerning whether I like this better than the original or not. Even in 720p, the graphics look stunning. The controls are possibly the tightest in the entire series. The story-line is a lot more narrative than the original game, and despite the linearity never gets boring. To give this game any negative reviews because of its lack of multiplayer is to deny what should be the greatest part of any game experience like this: A solid campaign that makes the player want to pick up their controller to play again. If anything, the game could have used a bit more length. However, at the same time there is so much to see in the virtual game world of Columbia that additional content might not be necessary for a little while. In short, everyone who considers themselves a gamer should find some way to play BioShock Infinite, because it's definitely Game of the Year material.

So, I'm just wondering if any of the negative reviewers have actually PLAYED the game? OR, are they really that negative against Nintendo and the Wii? Not a single negative review gives me any reason to believe they actually picked up a Wii remote to give the game a chance. And even the one reviewer that said "then again, it's a Wii game." sounds like he barely lifted a finger to give it a proper chance. Now, being someone who HAS played the game, let me say that the positive reviews are absolutely warranted and deserved. Nintendo has truly stepped up their game this time around, by giving us an adventure that's as fun to play, as it is hard to STOP playing. I've been reading a lot of complaints about the "unresponsive" motion controls, and it tells me that some people expected the same waggle-gaggle action that Twilight Princess and the original Wii Sports had. That icon at the bottom of the box, symbolizing Wii MotionPlus, means that while it DOES accurately track your motions, you should really give yourself time to get used to it. Remember the frustration in trying to score a strike in Wii Sports Resort? Yeah? Then be patient! After time, the controls are very easy to adapt to. And if you DON'T remember, then maybe you should play Wii a bit more often. Of course, where's a Zelda game without the story? This game is set back before Ocarina of Time, and while it isn't an admittedly PERFECT story it's better fare than any of the war games that are out today. Between the variety of gameplay options, the vast amount of quests and things to do, the compelling story, and the amazing MotionPlus-enabled combat, Zelda Skyward Sword truly is the best Wii game ever, and possibly the best game I've played all year. Speaking of, I'm gonna get back to that now.
