Melty Blood: Type Lumina10
Nov 14, 2021
It doesn't get better than this. French Bread building off their success and talent with UNICLR have gone on to make a FANTASTIC 2D fighting game. Tutorials and missions are great going from beginners to advanced, and also really helpful for people new to the series and mechanics. Movement is ridiculous and you'll be all over the screen. Sprites are gorgeous too. Sound and music is top notch. Highly recommended.

Fighting game perfection. Incredible gameplay, great tutorial and mission modes for beginners. The story mode is amazing and carries on from Xrd. The netcode is amazing (rollback), and it runs incredibly smooth and quick on PS5.

Solid shmups, highly recommend. All are fun, Satazius is a great one - basically it's gradius. There's vertical and horizontal shooters here, and of the 3, some have alternative versions. Pretty nice - worth picking up the physical copy.

Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st]10

The best 2D fighting game you will ever play. Beautiful 2D sprites, simple but complex and deep fighting mechanics. Incredible tutorial that will literally teach you from absolute beginner to advanced fighting game pro. The game is full of content and totally underappreciated and overlooked - buy it, play it, love it.

Street Fighter V0

Terrible. It's 1/4 ****. You're locked out of so much content and basically forced to look at microtransactions because earning fight money is a complete joke. If you want a good game, look at UNICLR. This is trash.

What a scam, it's the original version of street fighter 5 on disc, with a stupid DLC code. Too cheap to even reprint the disc with all the content on it. Disgraceful.

Atelier Dusk Trilogy Deluxe Pack10
Mar 29, 2020
I played through Atelier Ayesha on Vita. This is a great game. It has some of the best weapon and item crafting in a JRPG game. The cast of characters are very likable in this game too. Ayesha's battle system is a lot of fun and puts up a decent challenge with a normal/hard difficulty and lots of extremely challenging optional bosses. There's also the soundtrack which is among the very best soundtracks in the Atelier series. In this game they went all out with the soundtrack and there's tons of great battle themes, amazing boss themes and the soundtrack is a strong one where almost every song is memorable. This is a must play game. Some may ask about the time limit. Yes Ayesha has one. However, it is incredibly forgiving and it's almost impossible to fail the time limit in this game. So do not worry if you are a beginner. Ayesha is a excellent game for new Atelier players to start with.

With the expansion of [cl-r] added to Under Night, I can say that this will be a game I'll be playing for a long while to improve and have a generally good time with. The tutorial's great and provides insight to players that have never played a fighting game before while introducing it's own unique ideas into the learning exercises. What starts off as complex becomes more and more enjoyable with mastery.

DOOM Eternal2
Mar 29, 2020
I hate Eternal's design decision, which I will fully qualify as authoritarian, gamey and wooden. It feels like cheap design. There's no flow and by the time you get to the end of the game, you are cycling through the same stuff all the time anyway because there's no choice other than max out your dps and get armor in the process. I loved 2016 and having finished Eternal, the gameplay isn't the only issue I have with it : Invisible walls everywhere. The levels read horribly in that regard and the level design is as limiting as the gameplay. 2016 got flanderized in Eternal. The story is a joke. The tone is one big fourth-wall break. 2016's story was far, far more powerful and its tone very successfully skirting the line between meta-commentary and subtle. VEGA being saved, the tension with Hayden, the absolute, rorschach-level slaughter of demons, all of it was amazing. Eternal feels like that cook that doesn't get that seasoning is all about restraint and having just the right amount and instead emptying jugfuls of salt and pepper onto it because "people liked it last time". They took the fun quip about "mortally challenged" and hammered it over and over, as if the writer was going "Hey, that was funny last time, right? Right?" Two third of the levels don't sell anything about the world, they make you feel nothing. The only ones that did anything were the ones in that elder-maykr-sentinel ancient thing-setting that only managed to be beautiful. Levels exist to be traversed in Eternal whereas in 2016 they elicited both story and a sense of place despite the comparatively much-more limiting Mars UAC setting. And of course, the gameplay. I want to run and shot at stuff, and I balk at the defense of the new mechanics as "skill". Quake 3 didn't require a chainsaw to reload.
