Pillars of Eternity: The White March - Part 210

The pacing of the game is fitting for a story climax. The graphics are great, the gameplay continues to expand in terms of depth.

Fantastic art direction and great story telling. I am really liking it so far. Pillars Of Eternity is one of the best RPGs to come out this year. It's nice to have the RTS elements that a 6 person party can provide and I love the graphics style of the game. Diablo 3 had an isometric view but it failed to wow me with it's overall look. POE looks really neat and it does it without using advanced graphics capability. Like a beautiful painting that never gets old. It will look great 10 years from now just like the way BG2 continues to look neat even now. For me, the tactical combat that this style of game brings to the table is what really sets it apart from other games. I have been craving a game like this for a long time and it's nice to see one come around that has great dialog options with a meaty campaign that gives the gamer a reason to replay the game again and again. I am glad to see a game that doesn't focus on the social element of gaming for a change. Sometimes I like a game that is like a good book where you just relax and shut the rest of the world out and let your imagination run wild.

Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition10

Visually it's not a large improvement outside of the natural benefits that come with higher resolution. it is nice that they added a zoom feature so that you can set the scale to whatever you are happy with at your monitor's resolution. It is easier to install plus saves and loads are much faster. The backgrounds have been re-mastered which adds a little bit of improvement to the overall color of the image. The sprites have not been reworked I think one of the reviews I read had that backwards. Overall it looks a little better but it is nice because it works without any hassle and you don't have to mod the game to get it to support your setup. They have also added an expansion pack worth of new characters, items, and areas to explore (30+ new areas). Personally I am really happy to see this game get new content 15 years after it's release. The content is up to the same standards as the original game and some of the characters they have added are more developed then the originals. Text is easier to read, small bugs that were never fixed are patched up now. Over all it's not a huge improvement but it is a noticeably better experience and the extra content and support with possible future DLC options makes me give this a high score. I won't be going back to the original that is for sure.
