This game isn't perfect by any means, however it is very enjoyable. The storyline is interesting, and the graphics and design are great. However, the inability to switch between character types on the fly hurts the overall experience, especially concerning side quests. The combat is also somewhat repetitive.

I wanted to like Driver San Francisco, I really did. The plot was interesting, and the graphics and visuals were great. Unfortunately, the game suffers from 2 flaws which really diminish the experience. The first is that the driving physics are not enjoyable. It's very heavy on the brake/drift mechanic and the cars spun out way, way too easily. I don't claim to be an expert on if the physics are realistic according to the models of car or not, but I do know for a game like this, where driving plays a central role in the mechanics of the game, the physics diminish the fun factor of the game. Some missions I had to repeat several times due to poor AI (give me a chance to avoid crashing into some of the cars in the world!) and/or the insistence of the AI on racing missions that I destroy opposing cars. Most vehicles in the game fishtailed way, way too easily and handled very poorly. Understandable on semi truck or vw bus, not so much on a sports car. The second flaw is the the stovepipe way the storyline progresses. I would have enjoyed at least the illusion of an open world game - as each chapter in the story unfolds, you are given what looks like options to continue forward - but rest assured, you will have to complete each "suggested" mission before you can progress to the next level. In some cases, the missions are part of the story arc - and that makes sense - but often they are simply random people you never see again, or the mission has nothing to do with the overall plot of the game. I've enjoyed every game in the Driver series previous to this one, and would have loved to give this a higher rating. Unfortunately, this is a flawed gem.

While this certainly isn't the best superhero game out there (Batman holds that honor), it is an entertaining day's gaming if you are willing to forgive less than optimal graphics, control that's a tad off, and really cheesy German accented English voice acting. The game is fun to play, but I couldn't help but to wonder what could have been - there was no backstory and no hints of Cap's life or contacts outside of the narrow scope of the game. The game was pretty linear and held your hand throughout, with maps of objects making it far too easy to find all the "hidden" goodies. I can't help but to wish another studio had taken on the title. Sega is like one of those exs that always promises to change "it will be better this time, really" but in the end just breaks your heart. Cap deserved better treatment than he got here.

I only played the single player campaign, so my comments are restricted to that aspect of the game. The storyline is pretty weak. It feels as if the designers threw every new idea in shooters into a giant storyline. I never really identified with the characters as much as I could have if the storyline were a bit more realistic. Having said that, the graphics, game play, and mechanics are outstanding.

I only played single player, so my remarks are confined to that aspect of the game. I enjoyed the continuation of the storyline in the single player campaign. Storyline has always been a hallmark in this series, and COD:MW 3 continues in this regard. The storyline was much, much better that Battlefield 3's.
