Bomber Crew

Bomber crew is a charming little WW2 bomber sim where you control seven crew members of an Avro Lancaster, From the pilot, to the gunners, to the bombardier. It's blocky artstyle is cute, functional, and lends itself well to the game. Crew members names can be personalized to your liking, however their looks are randomly generated. All in all, There's a lot of potential here for this game, but there are some things that the Devs should add to make the better. As it stands, Bomber crew is not an easy game. Especially in it's current state. The first couple missions are easy enough. Go here, bomb target, shoot down a couple planes, take some reconnaissance photos, return to base. Pretty fun. But soon, (Very soon) the game spikes in difficulty. Throwing waves and waves of fighters (That all need to be individually marked by you for your gunners to fire at them) and walls of flak at you, while you struggle to have your engineer run around repairing all the damage and healing the gunners, if they're not already dead. (Yes, there is Permadeath) Not only that, but you also have to keep targeting waypoints for your pilot to follow, less he fly off in the wrong direction and Whoops! There goes all your fuel. There's been talk of adding a "Pause" or "Time slow" button to help with these frantic moments. Only time will tell if that much needed feature does get added in. Personally, I'd rather have an "Action queue" mechanic like it most other RTS's, where you shift click multiple orders to a crewman and they do them all in the order you clicked them. Here's a concise list of Pros and Cons I noticed during my time so far with Bomber Crew. Pros: -Charming Art Style -Lots and Lots of customization and upgrades, both in plane and crew. -Addictive gameplay -In-depth management -TONS of potential Neutral: -Soundtrack is nothing special -Extremely arcadey physics, but what do you expect? DCS? -Not a historical representation. Please don't take it as such. -No real story. It's WW2. Sometimes you bombs historically significant targets. Cons: -Large difficulty spike within the first couple hours, which can lead to frustration. -Only one bomber, being the Lancaster (Possibility of more being added later) -Management is not efficient. Everything needs to be done individually, and in some cases simultaneously -Missions get samey. Bomb this depot, bomb this artillery location, deliver supplies to this pilot. -Crew member's appearance cannot be customized. Who you get is what you're stuck with. -Not enough feedback to the player. I always seem to die because somehow a fire starts in the cockpit and the pilot jumps out and then the plane just nosedives into the sea. I want to love this game. I REALLY do. But there's still some things that the devs should look into before this game can be a solid one.

Pro: - Graphics are nice, up close, they're quite pixelated, but you're supposed to be looking at them from a Kilometer up, so it's fine - Lotsa planes: 40 (Including variants of 1 plane. ex: Spitfire Mk1, Mk5, Mk9, Mk14) - Some interesting missions. (One involving a lone mosquito buzzing around Berlin on the **** Party's birthday) - Fun Missions in general. - Controls are easy to get used to. left stick for basic steering, right stick for speed and rolling. - "Ace kills" are fun and satisfying. Cons: - Not much of a story besides the "Main character" Tom Forester. Even with him, it's just a more detailed backstory than others. - Useless wingmen. I've seen my wingmen on the tail of a enemy flying straight and level and not firing. Also, they make no attempt to cover you as you make runs on enemy bombers. They might as well be flying slow, lazy doughnuts around the sky with neon signs saying: "Shoot me!" Also, they will fly into you if you're on the tail of an enemy. - Ace difficulty is such a far jump in difficulty from pilot, it's almost stupid hard. In Pilot, your health regens quite slowly, (you have a lot of it anyway. roughly 5x more than Ace), Enemies have a fair amount of health, and everything seems balanced for a nice happy time. Ace on the other hand...Your health does not regen, ever. (you especially feel this in longer "defend *location* against waves of bombers" missions) Normal enemy AI is ruthless. They will hound you constantly, and with your low health, will kill you if you give them half a chance. Friendly AI is still as useless as ever. Enemy health is stupid high, even with if you're using planes with lots of weaponry. Rams on bombers will kill you and they will keep flying. - "Invisible" Fighters: Enemy planes that are supposed to give the AI something to fight, (But as stated, they don't) and they don't have target markers over them, making them extremely hard to spot in a furball of Spitfires and Bf 109s, and they will still shoot at you, and will follow you throughout the entire level. They will be your bane on Ace difficulty. I only learned halfway through the game the pressing R2 in their general direction put a little red triangle over their plane - Limited HUD: No speedometer, No gun overheat bar, No altimeter. Nothing. All you get is your secondary weapon, crosshair, enemy target arrow, and name of enemy plane and distance to target. - Relatively short, only 14 missions, and Multiplayer was dead from the start. So replay value is lacking. - All the Bf 109s use the same model. So the G6 looks the same as the E. It's dumb. Why didn't they change it? They changed every other model in the game with other variants. TL:DR. It's a nice, fun arcade WW2 flight sim on normal difficulty, but on Hard, the mechanics of this game fail it. Best to buy as cheap as possible or a rental.

This should be a standard for how MMOs are made. *Note* I haven't really played PVP yet, and I have yet to find a suitable guild. so this will be from a mostly solo PVE experience. Pros: Encourages Cooperation rather than Competition. Everyone can loot the boss, everyone can loot the chest, everyone can mine the ore vein etc. Why isn't this a normal thing? SO much content. the /age command tells me I've logged almost 290 hours into it, and that's just solo PVE. It doesn't feel grindy. (until you start leveling up your other characters after exploring the entire map) And the pacing is very nice. Graphics as astounding, even on Medium settings it looks gorgeous. Huge explorable world Very clean UI Lots of customization options, what with dyes and such, and character customization is very in-depth Crafting is simple yet very rewarding Small conversations overheard between the town NPCs make the world feel alive Very, Very kind community. 90% of the people you will meet are willing to help, and I've had random people party up with me to sort of be a private tutor of sorts. No standard Trinity system (Healer, Tank, DPS) Every class can sort of do it, but of course, there are specializations. No Pay 2 win options whatsoever. Most microtransactions are cosmetic, and when they're not, they're 1 hour boosters for Exp, Magic find, etc. No subscription fee! Pay for it once and it's yours forever. I picked up the Heroic edition for 20$, and that was well worth it. Mosaic Art Style and animated cutscenes are beautiful Very fewFemale light armor appear "Slutty." The ones that do show some skin actually come off as more majestic/graceful/whatever Cons: Certain character models need some work. Mainly with the Asura. The Shield just kinda floats on your arm. Story is meh. Dragon has a giant zombie army, so you have to stop him. that's pretty much it. The entire map you're given is not completely explorable. Crystal desert, Ring of Fire, mostly the corner areas are not accessible. Which is sad, because I really want to explore more. Armor doesn't get varied and "cool looking" until around level 30. Getting around via waypoints can get expensive, especially at the higher levels, when traveling to the closest waypoint costs 2 silver, and 10 silver for cross map.

This game can be summed up in one word. Meh. Would I recommend it? 10 years ago, I would've said yes. Now? Not a chance. Graphics are dated, singleplayer only, lackluster soundtrack, **** does have a nice plane list, some kinda fun/challenging missions, and varied environments. It is pretty easy though, once you get the hang of dodging SAMs.

It's a good game, while it lasts. And the modding community is quite healthy, always adding new skins for weapons, infected, items, But the game is too repetitive for me. Literally, every game is "Run down this corridor and shoot at zombies until you get to the safe room" I completed all the single player stuff, tried some community made maps, Had a really terrible experience with **** online who teamkilled everyone when they got the chance, then got really bored and I never played it again. It now sits in my Steam library, gathering dust.

Churchill tank has sten guns firing from the sides. 10/10 All joking aside, I like this new faction. It takes a bit to set up, but late game, the British forces just roll in with churchills supported by fireflies and a couple engineers and you just steamroll everything. The only reason it's not perfect for me, is that I can definitely see this as being OP and will expect nerfs to happen. Especially to the Heavy engineers with the x2 repair time, and the Churchill tank in general. Firefly is pretty balanced though. This is a defensive faction. Be conservative setting up, guard choke points with anti tank emplacements, and machine guns and when you have the resources, unleash the mighty Churchill tanks (Those things are definitely gonna see a nerf.) and roll right over the enemy.

Oh dear God....This game... A little note before I begin. This is a review for the PS3 game. I hope to whatever god that's out there that the PS4, Xbone, and PC versions are much better than this. Pros: *Personal one* SCAR-H is now an assault rifle and not a carbine. Thank you for fixing that. "Levolution" Is a wonderful showcase of the new frostbite engine The Blue tint from BF3 is gone, thank GOD. Lots and lots of customizable options, including creating your own emblem Buttloads of weapons Buttloads of vehicles Good maps Is different enough than BF3 Battlelog system is a great resource for stats and stuff. Cons: (The cons break this game so much that I'm making each con a paragraph) - The campaign: Not only is it boring and cliche as hell, but it's simply broken! It never saves your game, so when you turn it off for the night, and come back to play the next morning, all your progress is gone. Apparently this has been an issue since launch and it still hasn't been fixed. It's also buggy as well, with Ladders proving to be your worst enemy, and NPCs will clip through you and your teammates. Also, sometimes, when you die, the screen will just stay black with that annoying little blinking light at the top, whilist you're actually dropped back into combat. the only way to fix it is to restart your system, and as mentioned before, you then lose all the data. -Performance: This game was obviously not meant to be played on the old gen consoles. Frames are all over the place, textures are bland and low res, (looking worse than BF3) but the biggest offender is the rendering of key elements like...Enemy soldiers, your guns, and the iron sights of said gun. I've lost count of how many times I spawn into a new server, everything looks crappy low res while it all loads and I get shot from an enemy who was actually right in front of me but hasn't rendered yet, making him invisible. Then he renders in a couple seconds later. Same with your weapons. Spawn in, enemy in front of you, gun hasn't loaded in yet, and the enemy spins around and blows your defenseless a** sky high. And exactly the same problem with the iron sights not loading in when you pull them up, the sights just look like a solid piece with no hole to look through, making them useless. and while you figure that out/wait for it to load, the enemy kills you. The menu also never remembers what's a new unlock and what isn't. So I constantly get that orange triangle that means "New item!", but it turns out it's the default camo of the gun I'm using. You know, the one you start with? **** change the controls???? The old controls were spot on and logical. I was at least able to fix the infantry controls, but vehicle controls remain a mystery for me. -Battlepacks and their unlocks: This **** absolute...worst idea for an unlock system...ever devised. Not only is what you get completely random. Not only is some of the stuff you get for weapons you don't have. Not only are the camos you get stupid looking, they charge MONEY for these. Absolutely disgraceful. Also, the battlepack attachments are pretty much useless. They're just reskinned attachments you get normally. Stubby grip reduces the automatic fire penalty by 15%. Potato grip does the exact same thing and looks downright stupid. The soldier camos you get are bad because with the weird lighting and bad textures, you can hardly make out any difference in the soldiers appearance. Also, you can get knives from this. Why are we copying CS:GO? Also, there's no "customize" option in the main menu. you actually have to go into a match or the new "Test range" to change up your class. Don't get this game for PS3. If you don't mind the battlepack system, get it for PS4/Xbone/PC. I'm sure it'll run a lot better/actually be fixed. This game is good, but it's just downright broken on old gen. Don't waste your money for the PS3 version.

When I first started playing this, it seemed okay. But then it took a nosedive Pro: Graphics and sound are very good. Soldier customization is a nice and welcome addition "Patches"/Emblems appearing on the soldier is a cool feature that I wish they did earlier. Squad mode is a good amount of fun, but I can see why not a lot of people play it. Campaign is decent (More on this in the Con section) Guns are good Double render scopes Create a class is more intuitive, with things like the "Pick...13?" and class related kill/scorestreaks. It takes the good from MW3, and the good from BO2, and combines it. But there are still some problems. Con: Maps and spawns are not good. Maps flow terribly and Expect to be killed from behind a lot. (The only decent map I found was Warhawk The campaign ending is a kick to your nads. watch it on youtube. Not much use for sliding. Time to kill is a little too fast Quickscoping is still in the game It's just...Boring. It get's really boring. This is the problem with the Unlock coins system. There's no incentive to keep playing to unlock the last gun/attachment, etc, and challeges are all long term (ex. 400 kills with said attachment to unlock 1 thing.) Overall, it's a game that had quite a bit of potential, the customization options were very welcome in my eyes, and it had a lot of little things that made my experience better. And I got some enjoyment out of it, until I sunk about 5-10 hours in the game and unlocked everything I wanted, then the game just stopped holding attention, and it goes to collect dust on the shelf while you go to play more fun games.

I have sunk over 300 hours into this game, And a decent amount into the prequel So I feel it's time to give my opinion on this game. Pros: Lines of sight are much more realistic. It's a nice improvement over the previous game Fun and long battles. I've had games last as long as 3 hours. Wonderful graphics. (A little bit on this in the Con section.) Troops have idle lines, Giving them some personality. ("We had a girl back in Aachen that could do it standing on her head! And singing!") Weather effects are a nice addition (A little bit on this in the Con section) Steam workshop support. Making some DLCs a little less like an obvious choice. Decently balanced team wise. (Not perfect. I find the Americans to be the weakest, Especially late game. But, hey. I don't play as them that often so...) Challenging Campaign. Cons: Kinda Dumb AI. Late in the game, even expert bots will either: A) Stop producing units, B) Keep all their units in their base, or C) They'll move their troops out 100 yds and then have them retreat for no reason. Also, Bridges. Bots seem to just leave their troops on a bridge effectively blocking it, and you can't do anything to make them move. Monstrous PC specs required for a smooth game. Do not get this game if your computer is even remotely considered anything close to a toaster. Fairly toxic community, but that's expected with almost team-based every game. Time needed to get a War Spoils drop is too long, and you can get duplicates. A lot...A LOT of DLC. Extra mission packs, dozens of commanders, dozens of camos, and the camos are split individually among the vehicle classes. Making you buy all three of the same camo if you want it to appear on all of your vehicles Lots of RNG when it comes to what happens to a tank on 1 health. Most of the time it destroys the gun, instead of killing the tank, allowing the enemy tank to get away and repair. Models have started warping all of a sudden. Controversy: Holy **** amount of people on here offended about the game is too damn high. Makes me kinda wonder where the found info on flowers springing up in the Russians footsteps as they peacefully cared for all of their troops **** wait, THAT DIDNT HAPPEN. I have done...quite extensive research on the eastern front during **** while this game does take some "unhistorical" liberties (The execution of the soldier who left his post to save his ****'s portrayal of the Russian army is pretty accurate. Some soldiers didn't have guns, those that retreated were seen as traitors, and they WERE shot by their own officers, and the Scorched earth policy was a thing. Now before everyone reading this immediately claims I'm Anti-Rus, or **** or whatever, The **** most well known atrocities were on the German home front. The Holocaust, etc. You can't really model that, especially when there's a difference between the government in power (the ****) versus the army. That's like saying all of the US's soldiers are democrats. Because that's what our president's party is. In battle, the Russians were far more uncaring of their troops, and this is quite obviously shown with the body count, as commanders would just use human wave tactics to overwhelm the germans. And they did kill any polish people that weren't willing to side with them. War isn't politically correct, and games shouldn't have to be in order to be considered to be good. Overall, It's a very fun game, With a lot of mod support that further adds to the life of the game. However It is very DLC centric, and War spoils system needs some tweaking. It's a decent addition over the first game, and you all need to calm down and do some actual research about the russians during WW2. They're not the Angels you all seem to think they are.
