Gummy Drop!6

match 3 games are pretty old and staid by this point. this game doesn't offer up much of anything new in terms of game play. but it's a solidly built match 3 puzzle game if you like that genre.

Yet It Moves (puzzle platformer)9
Feb 2, 2015
Fantastic port of the Steam and Wiiware game And Yet It Moves to iOS. The world rotation mechanic using swiping is amazingly natural and feels like the game was designed for the touch screen, even though it was not. Probably the best version of the game, and it's only $2.99! Anyways, the difficulty curve ramps up very quickly and it feels like old skool retro games in having to learn levels and their obstacles just right so that you can reach goal without dying. None of the excessive hand holding you see in modern games, and that's a good thing.

Candy Crush Soda Saga6

a good time waster that is essentially just more additional levels of the original candy crush. there are some new puzzle gimmicks and mechanics, but nothing drastic enough to make it feel like a new game. decent game to play if you're stuck on the original candy crush, but want to try some new levels.

Polyform (3D cube puzzle)7

Very intuitive controls on this puzzle game, and pretty satisfying when levels are solved. Can be a bit frustrating when the blocks don't quite go to the right spot, but they are mostly spot on.

Kentucky Route Zero - Act I6

This feels like a cross between an animated visual novel and an adventure game, interesting story telling if you can get into the storyline, a bit on the fence myself.

Unpixelate (3D puzzle)8
Jan 18, 2015
Great iOS port of the Steam puzzler Puzzle Dimension. Challenging pathway finding puzzles on 3D maps. Paying up front for 100 levels is definitely an improvement over getting nickled and dimed (and dollared!) with IAPs. Some of the controls and tutorial can be definitely improved though, it takes a little while to get used to the controls.

Terra Battle7

Great core game mechanic with that addicting Puzzle & Dragons style drag and bump in a grid setup. But you get to move around your characters, not just gems, in order to set up combo attacks. Difficulty ramps up pretty quickly and I faced my first challenge on Chapter 5, does it turn into a grind (or pay to win) from here? I'm not sure because it lowered my motivation. But it was great up until. The music is very modern Final Fantasy, because it's the same buy Uematsu doing the music. Kinda cheesy bombast, but hey.

Wavefront (wave action puzzle)8

Extremely unique action puzzle game, almost like a side scrolling platformer in the way it plays. Difficulty ramps up pretty quickly like classic arcade and console games, so it's a rather retro gaming experience (no microtransactions, yeah!) And music is fantastic if you like electronic, dance, techno, EDM, etc. though more on the chilled out side than high energy.

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft8

Game does a great job in condensing the TCG experience onto tablet. Wish deck building was easier though, I like to spread out my cards to compare them at a glance but I know that's difficult with the device.
