Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Warlords8
Mar 7, 2021
A great addon, that brings up six new civilizations (Celts, Vikings, Carthaginians, Zulu, Koreans, and Ottomans), a dozen leaders (including Churchill and Stalin), warlord and vassal mechanics (allows more powerful civilizations to control weaker civilizations), more units, unique buildings for each nation, three wonders of the world, resources, game scenarios, as well as a lot of smaller improvements. As you can guess from the name, Warlords focuses on the military aspects of the game. All its innovations, in one way or another, are designed to diversify the militaristic scenarios. But this leads to the only disadvantage of the addon: already inadequate AI begins to behave even more aggressive, and the system of vassal relations gives an advantage to the most hostile leaders.

Sid Meier's Civilization IV10
Mar 7, 2021
When I found out that Civilization IV had been out for a couple of years, I was still playing its predecessor. And if it weren't for the dozens or even hundreds of hours I've spent playing Civ3, coupled with fatigue from its limitations and dumb AI — Civ4 could, potentially, became my favourite instalment in the whole series. Looking back, the fourth part seems to be the most polished and competent iteration of the iconic franchise. Especially if you compare the basic versions, without the paid DLC and add-ons, which the creators of the series are so like to abuse nowadays. Sid Meier's Civilization IV inherited the best features of its predecessors, polished its mechanics and made a lot of small changes and improvements to the well-established formula. Thanks to a much more user-friendly and informative interface, fancier graphics, mature stylistics (hello to cartoonish Civ6 and Revolution) and FullHD resolution support — the project looks and plays pleasantly to this day. And the amount of starting content, old and new civilizations, as well as the presence of alternative leaders are surprising. Of the drawbacks, I could mention the traditionally inadequate behaviour of the AI (especially when playing at marathon speed on huge maps with the maximum number of opponents), as well as the "unfair" difficulty, which increases not via the "cunning" AI, but through a system of bonuses for computer opponents and penalties for the player. But both of these problems are the scourge of the entire series, which the developers have successfully ignored for over two decades. Despite its solid age, Sid Meier's Civilization IV is a great starting point for getting to know the series, especially if you're not interested in online multiplayer. Unlike the newer instalments, Sid Meier's IV is much less demanding in terms of hardware and finances but is just as addictive.

Nice visuals, Ubisoft-like gameplay, extremely boring generic quests, ridiculous story and dialogues. What a disappointment from the creators of inFamous 1-2.

Cyberpunk 20770

I was a huge fan of CD Projekt RED for 13+ years (since the first Witcher) and I liked the GOG's policy, despite preferring other platforms for their functionality. I really didn't want to bring this up, but the GOG/CDPR actions and attitude left me no choice. The Cyberpunk 2077 is raw, unpolished and bugged as hell. The more I play — the more broken quests, "silent" dialogues and other technical issues I get. I was sending bug reports and suggestions to the CDPR support since release, but I haven't got any replies. Zero. Not even automatic ones, so I don't know if they even check them or no. There are no answers, there are no patches, there is no roadmap. The day-one patch arrived on GOG later than on other platforms and after that only two useless "hotfixes" were released (it didn't fix anything for me). No real patches for a month, no new hotfixes for weeks. The Russian localization is terrible and Galaxy client resetting the language preferences every time I launch the game. (There is no such problem on other stores). And the client still crashes ten times per day. I've heard a lot of complaints about optimization, but at least I don't have any significant problems on that front despite some minor fps drops and object popping. Though I've built my PC especially for Cyberpunk and my TV supports only 1080p resolution at 60fps which is likely the main reason I’ve got an ok performance. GOG/CDPR stuff keep ignoring all problems with Cyberpunk and Galaxy launcher, but this isn't the only problem they prefer to turn a blind eye for. Some of you may know that they decided to cancel the long-awaited release of an indie game Devotion on GOG to please some Chinese bots. They've slaughtered the game without any reasons (the little placeholder with the hurtless joke was completely removed from the game years ago). And the main problem in this situation that GOG staff answered on Twitter bot messages within a few hours by fully cancelling the promised release not only for China but for the rest of the world too. At the same time, they keep ignoring thousands of their own customers for weeks. They’ve just silently deleted the announcement and cancellation posts without any official statement/explanation/comment, ignoring all questions and support tickets about their decision. Just check the GOG’s Community Wishlist — it is the most requested game of December and January. This is just another sign that GOG/CDPR changed their policy from being pro-customer to being pro-money. It isn't the first call, but it can be the last one for many loyal customers. Censorship can't be tolerated, especially political censorship — I'm sick of this **** in my everyday life. So, after all of this, I’ve got really disappointed. I tend to buy way more games than I have time to play. And I prefer playing on another platform, but I used to buy second copies of the games I like on GOG only because I liked it's policy, customer-oriented service and wanted to support my favourite devs. But this isn't the thing anymore. I haven't even played 99% of the games I've bought on GOG, so, I've tried to request a refund for them. And they refused. GOG support has finally answered on my ticket. First of all, they've completely ignored all my questions about Devotion. Secondly, they've refused to refund anything (not a single game from 340+ in my library!) They've also refused to comment on the bugs and estimated release of next patch for Cyberpunk 2077. (They've told me to contact "CDPR official channels" that haven't answered to support tickets in a month). Finally, they've refused to partly refund my physical copy of Cyberpunk 2077 so I could get the Steam version instead (I don't want to be forced to buy future addons on GOG and use their broken launcher anymore). They've told me that I should refund my physical collector's edition where I've bought it. But it isn't possible after you've opened the box and used the activation code. Well, I will be waiting for heavily discounted GOTY/Director's Cut/Enhanced edition on other platforms then. I was supporting and advertising GOG for years. I've bought all CDPR games on release, including collector's editions and versions for different platforms (not to mention figurines and tons of other merch). I didn't expect that these companies’ management will start to wipe their feet on its loyal customers. I’ve missed the moment when they turned into EA/Activision siblings, but as far as history shows — it's the one-way road in this industry. This is the last game I've bought on GOG. In the current state, I can't recommend it to anyone, nor I can recommend this platform anymore. I'm disgusted by GOG/CDPR recent actions and their new priorities. I'm disappointed by the way they've decided to handle situations around failed Cyberpunk launch and Devotion censorship. Their reaction (the lack of it) on customers' feedback is a disgrace and I regret supporting them so much…

Brukel6
Dec 7, 2020
Brukel (PC: Steam) — 6/10 Brukel is an unremarkable walking simulator that tells the story of a simple Belgian girl Bie Verlinden, whose routine was disrupted by the events of World War II. This is a great gift from the developer for his 92-year-old grandmother (and at the same time a way to earn extra money on a nice old lady), but it's a fairly mediocre game. Probably, as a brief (slow walkthrough takes less than 45 minutes) excursus into the past for the younger generation of Europeans — this project is quite appropriate. But to market it as serious drama, and even more so as psychological horror, isn't exactly right. We all know dozens, or even hundreds, of similar stories about the WWII. We all remember works that are more tragic, memorable or scarier. Brukel could have been a good documentary, telling us about the pre-war life of the Belgian farmers and the tragedy of WWII, but the execution was clumsy. The narrative is crumpled, information is presented in the form of short audio recordings, and the attempt to step on the horror/mystic side was a failure. The ghosts of Bruckel won't frighten you or make you think — they are completely unnecessary in this story. And contrary to the description of the game, this project has nothing in common with Silent Hill.

I loved the COD4: MW, I enjoyed the campaign in MW2, and I have some fun with MW3 despite all of its flaws. I was so hyped about this reboot and how disappointed I've been when I finally played it! Mostly 'cause all of its PR-campaign and developers interviews was complete **** It has a ridiculous story, uninspired campaign, dumb AI, extremely boring missions with lack of scale and without any "wow moments" series is known for. Graphically it looks terrible even on PC with maxed out settings — the final product is nothing like it's trailers. Location's design is also unmemorable. Developers are trying to hide the game's ugliness in the dark (80% of the game is taking place at night or in dark buildings), but it isn't working. Also, there isn't any music playing on most levels. What the hell Activision? And, yeah, Infinity Ward also lied about "grey morale": all Russian soldiers are evil in the sake of being evil. They are killing civilians, women and children without any reasons or logic behind their actions. If you are trying to make an interesting enemy — at least give them SOME motivation or ideology. Even **** in the COD: WW2 wasn't such monsters as Russians in new COD: MW. The Americans and British soldiers, in contrast, are heroes that even in the "torture" episode aren't actually torturing anyone. You can't even shot the terrorist's wife in the leg to make him talk — the game won't allow you to. Because Americans never tortured any terrorists in Guantanamo or Iraqi prisons, of course. Or 'cause USA and UK are the most important markets for COD games. It isn't the game about the dark side of war as they promised. It isn't a fun shooting gallery as previous COD games. It's the stupidest, tasteless propaganda I've seen in my entire life. Activision is trying to be provoking, but they don't have balls to do it properly. For example, we all understand that this fictional Urzikstan country is meant to represent Syria, but devs are afraid to say it out loud. If you don't give a ..ck about the singleplayer campaign — I have bad news for you, 'cause multiplayer **** too. It's trying to be the COD, Battlefield and Counter-Strike at the same time... and it fails to be anything. It's too laggy, unpolished and unplayable. Modern Warfare (2019) is the worst part of Call of Duty. Actually, it's the worst shooter I've played in years. And it's one more disappointment in a neverending chain of disappointments from modern Activision-Blizzard. I'm just too sick of their **** games, microtransactions and politics, so, I've deleted my **** account.

They killed Fallout. Twice. Fallout 4 was a joke and I don't even want to mention this low-quality Fallout-themed Rust clone. I will just pretend that it doesn't exist. Bethesda should've left it to Obsidian, those guys clearly knew what to do with the franchise, but it's too late now since Obsidian was bought by Microsoft. That was clearly the last Fallout game I've bought (at least I was able to sell it already) and I'm really worried about TES future.

Fallout 760

They killed Fallout. Twice. Fallout 4 was a joke and I don't even want to mention this low-quality Fallout-themed Rust clone. I will just pretend that it doesn't exist. Bethesda should've left it to Obsidian, those guys clearly knew what to do with the franchise, but it's too late now since Obsidian was bought by Microsoft. That was clearly the last Fallout game I've bought (at least I was able to sell it already) and I'm really worried about TES future.

The Punisher6

The Punisher (PS2) - 6/10 + Продолжительность.

Awkward Dimensions Redux2
Feb 24, 2017

Game of Thrones: Episode Six - The Ice Dragon0

It's just a miserable piece of **** :C At first, you waiting four months for the last episode, and then you can not complete it, because it always freezes, and when you close the application through the "ctrl+alt+delete", all progress goes to hell, and you have to start it all over from the very beginning > _ < GoT

Serena10
May 24, 2014
