Get Shorty: Season 18
Aug 30, 2017
An involving story that I want to see through to the end, lighthearted but punctuated with sudden violence. People to root for, people to hate, and people who you haven't quite made your mind about yet. What's not to love? So far (episode 4) this is quality TV.

I'm Sorry: Season 15
Aug 25, 2017
This needs to slow down a lot. Andrea Savage is lovely but hard to watch here. Not unfunny but she's relentlessly full-on and ultimately tiresome. Maybe she should have a closer look at how the show that clearly influenced 'I'm Sorry' sedately developed its comedy of social embarrassment to far greater effect. Take it down a notch or two.

Room 104: Season 17
Aug 9, 2017
My rating is based only on the first two enjoyably dark and twisty episodes. It does however seem similar in premise and tone to the UK series 'Inside No.9', and the remaining episodes will have to go some way to match the consistently inventive plots that No.9 continues to come up with. Fingers crossed though.

Claws: Season 16
Jun 28, 2017
Didn't like most of episode 1, the end kept me watching into episode 2 and by episode 3 I'm hooked. The initially annoying leads have settled in nicely and the story is developing in unexpected ways. There's a villain to hate and people to root for. So far, I'm glad I stuck with it.

Imposters: Season 17
Mar 31, 2017
A glossy, superficial and soapy drama that you think you should be hating, but I bet you'll want to see things through. There's nothing new here, but enough twists to keep you interested. And then there's Ms Lavi. You can't take your eyes off the woman, she's hypnotic. Undemanding fun.

Sneaky Pete: Season 18
Mar 29, 2017
Great show spoiled only by the frantic rush to neatly tie up all the plot strands. I hate shows that plod on relentlessly and, let's be honest, most of them do (yes I mean you, 'How To Get Away With Murder'), but this could have done with a further episode or two to reach its conclusion.

The Good Fight: Season 18
Mar 1, 2017
Looks like The Good Wife, sounds like The Good Wife (including the music) but stands up on its own merits. I don't know whether I was looking forward to this show, I think I maybe watched the pilot as an obligation to its parent show. But three episodes in and so far I love it. Let's face it, you can't really go wrong with Christine Baranski in your cast. I'm happy she's got herself another classy gig.

Doubt: Season 15
Feb 17, 2017
On the basis of Episode 1 I've tried to be fair and gone 5. The simple reason is that Doubt may well be an OK show, the storylines seem interesting enough, but I can't tell because of the overwhelming incidental music. It is relentless. I'm 59, I can tell 'quirky' or 'dramatic' without intrusive background music shouting at me. Strong feeling this can only get worse and has no future.

The Grand Tour: Season 15
Nov 21, 2016
Grand Tour takes the gang's Top Gear self indulgence to a new level and is too long. Still liked it though and I look forward to the next eleven weeks.

Pure Genius: Season 13
Oct 31, 2016
Considering a lot happens, this is a curiously uninvolving pilot episode. Overly manipulative emotionally, there's no edge to it at all. If this is the best it can come up with to hook an audience into sticking with it for a few more episodes, I fear for what's to come. 3/10 and two of them are for the loveliness that is Odette Annable.

Conviction (2016): Season 15
Oct 10, 2016
Exhausting to watch. The rush to establish everything in 40 minutes comes as a jolt to grown-ups who nowadays are accustomed to watching a single story unfold gradually over several episodes. That said, now that we more or less know where we are, I'm happy to give it a try for a few more weeks as a glossy break from the more serious fare. Current viewer average of 3.4 is very harsh after just one episode.

The Family (2016): Season 17
Mar 11, 2016
Two episodes in and looking promising. One criticism, no need for the 'ten years ago' and 'present day' on-screen reminders, I think we can work it out for ourselves. 7 for now, let's see how it goes.

The Man in the High Castle: Season 17
Dec 14, 2015
Even if this was a terrible show, and it certainly isn't, I'd watch it just to enjoy its beautiful look. I could turn the sound off and still love it.

Stalker: Season 16
Jun 26, 2015
I find it difficult to understand the ridiculously low metacritic score for Stalker. The average user score in my opinion more accurately reflects the worth of this show, and the massive difference of opinion between viewers and critics is fascinating. Sure, it's not classic TV, but it makes for a perfectly watchable.40 odd minutes. I wouldn't be heartbroken not to see it again, but if it got picked up somewhere I'd at least start watching a second series. My rating would be somewhere between the two. I don't think it's either as bad as 1.7 or as good as 7.3. It's nearer a 5.5 for me and, because we can't do halves, I'll round up to 6.

Do No Harm: Season 12
May 4, 2015
I take no pleasure in being right about this show. The fact that it was shunted to a late night slot after only 2 episodes (I'd predicted cancelled after 4) at least gives my critical faculties some bolstering, finally! But a lot of people seemed to really enjoy this show (I think the 10s are pushing it a bit though), and it is truly sad when a source of entertainment is lost. I'm happy when someone derives enjoyment from any medium, no matter what I may think of it. It is their choice: I don't have to watch, read or listen to it, and I would never say 'I'm right and you're wrong.' I didn't like Do No Harm at all, and it's still a 2 for me but, for the sake of the fans, I hope it gets picked up somewhere.

How to Get Away With Murder: Season 17
Oct 1, 2014
10's on the basis of one episode? Yes it was good, but let's just see how we feel in 6 episodes time. Or when it drags the dying carcass of its original idea into a cliffhanger, followed by a painful second season. I'll go 7/10 for now and sincerely hope that the remaining episodes make me want to mark it up.
