Fantastic, beautiful game that is worthy of being analyzed like a good novel with its criticism of treating capitalism like a religion. Crazy awesome ending too. Elizabeth is one of the greatest companions I have ever had in a video game, and your connection with her gets to be very strong as the game progresses (if you're into it). I just absolutely loved it. Comments on critiques of the game as being racist: This game is just as racist as Huck Finn, in that, A) racism in 1912 wasn't as big of an issue and B) the setting takes place in a corrupted society, which means their hatred of non-whites is only as valid as Pa's in Mark Twain's novel. The game is only racist if you look at the surface of what the developers are saying. Wonderful game. Game of the year in my opinion.

This is a fun game for the first 5 or 6 hours of gameplay. The visuals are stunning if your pc can handle them. The environment looks great and it is fun to see the different locations in the game. However, after the first 5 or 6 hours of playing, I found that the gameplay became very repetitive, both combat and puzzle solving. Because of the repetition, I think I lost a quicker interest in the story line. Granted the story line is good and dramatic, but not my favorite. Had I written my review after only four hours of gameplay, I would be praising every aspect of it. But I lost interest in the game overall, even though I did finish it. I was also disappointed in the puzzle-solving within the game. I have never played any Tomb Raider games before, and, knowing the franchise to having a reputation for being a puzzle-solving type genre, I was looking for puzzles that grew to be difficult towards the later part of the game, like Legend of Zelda type puzzles: challenging and fun. However, the Tomb Raider puzzles were consistently pretty easy and straightforward in an uninteresting way. The game was beautiful, fun in the beginning, and worth playing only if Steam drops the price to maybe $25.

Ignoring the last ten minutes, this game is incredible. The ending was incredibly disappointing, especially for those who completed all three games and built relationships, strong and weak, between the different characters. Regardless, this game improved combat beyond the others, and is an incredible experience. The ending couldn't be worse, but the rest of the game has to be praised for what it does.
