The Leftovers: Season 12
Sep 26, 2014
I'll preface this by saying I'm an Atheist. With that out of the way you can guess what my opinion of this is. Well you're right. This is utter hogwash, Atheists the world over would dream for the Rapture to happen, so that all the insane and crazy people could disappear and we can live in a world that would quickly start forming unity. I've seen the pilot and I don't plan to see anything else on it. I'm done

Dominion: Season 12
Aug 30, 2014
When I read this was based on the movie Legion I had hope that this would be semi-decent. My hopes were dashed terribly by the inept storytelling, bad acting, uselessly ugly effects and powerfully silly Anthony Head with an American Accent. I'm not in the mood to go into how bad this series is, it's just too bad for me to even try and explain. This is a sign that the Syfy channel needs to fold and die, because it's doing nothing good anymore.

Avatar: The Legend of Korra: Season 34
Aug 4, 2014
I hate doing this. I've given two decent scores for Korra before now, because I wanted to see the good that could come from this story. I've tried to explain that it's not the original Avatar. But you know what, I'm done with that. I'm done giving this show a chance, ignoring the bad parts for the good. Because this show is desperately trying to be the original Avatar. And it's failing. Badly. I've not seen the full series yet, but up to now, everything seems very rushed, new bad guys, contrived new groups. hinting at backstory that goes nowhere. This season is a mess. If it doesn't come back after the rushed formula, I won't be upset by it, I'll just sell my Korra dvd's and ignore the continuity, after all The Rift is still being done and up to now the series is still good.

Red Dwarf: Season 15
Jun 29, 2014
I honestly don't get Red Dwarf. I don't get the appeal, I've sat through five full seasons and never really found anything funny about it. There's been some interesting ideas raised, but - at least for me -it's not for me, too much comedy of a style I can't find funny. It's got good acting and -for the jokes, if you like them-it's good. The 5 rating isn't because it's bad, it's just a middle of the road rating for me.

Avatar: The Legend of Korra: Season 28
Dec 21, 2013
Okay, season two is done and-again, this isn't Avatar. I know that people can't really separate the original series from this one, but people should. This isn't about Aang's world, this is the one that he built and again, I like it. The problem at the moment with this style of storytelling is the disjointed style of writing, when they get it wrong-dear god do they get it wrong, but when they get it right, it's amazing! There were parts in this season that I loved, call backs to the original series, expansions of the universe and brilliant backstory built into it. Season 3 is going to be a very interesting thing to watch, I only hope that they finally give up on the useless 'Korra needs a Man' plotline and focus on seeing more of the world.

Avatar: The Legend of Korra: Season 18
Sep 6, 2013
Legend of Korra is not Avatar, there I said it. This series should be taken on its own merits and not compared to the original series, it's a wonderfully entertaining first series expansion of the Last Airbender universe, which up to now we've not seen anything else(discounting the comics, which are brilliant btw) it shows what happens after saving the world. As of now Season 2 is just around the corner, so catch it on DVD or any local available download service, it's worth it.

Ben 10: Ultimate Alien: Season 19
Jun 6, 2013
There are a lot of people out there that simply hate on this series because it did something very bold, it tried to expand the storyline and universe of Ben 10 and did it in a dark tone. Sure the original series was a bright and flashy thing with laughs a plenty, but when you begin to grow up, you notice that the world isn't the lurid colours you saw as a kid and begin seeing the world as it is, not what you wish it was. This is what the core of UA is and it's a welcome addition to western animations horrible standing on animation 'only being for kids so it better not be risqué'. Wonderful addition to the series and a good watch.

Quickly people have compared Elementary to the UK version 'Sherlock', I've seen both seasons of the BBC show and I like it, but I don't love it. Whereas in Elementary I love the whole show, foremost in my mind is Jonny Miller as this version of the title character, the stories are engrossing and-up to now-it hasn't jumped on the 'Sherlock-Moriarty' band wagon like the other show did. The only downside I see is the lacklustre supporting cast, but we're only a few episodes in and there's nothing serious to complain about, Lucy Liu is rather decent in this show compared to the BBC's Martin Freeman. Will it continue to be engrossing with 16 episodes left(11-12-12/12-11-12) only tie will tell, but I'm hoping so.

Once again, metacritic shocks me with its totally off thevwall critic reviews.
This series gives what most law shows have either given up on or completely ignored, a little thing called character quipping, having Mike and Harvey doing the whole back and forth with each other, trying to show whos the bigger smart-ass is especially funny for me as me and a friend pretty much quip each other when we meet up.

ThunderCats: Season 15
Jun 8, 2012
Being as this is a reboot, I would be wrong to base my feelings about this show on the original-because it's nothing like it. Everything about the show has been updated and for most of it, its a definite improvement(remember the kick-ass opening to the original then to watch clunky animation in the episode), the major stumbling block I've got with the show is the sea-saw way the story goes, its a dark and serious tone one week, then silly and totally stupid the next(I'll give that good shows can do this, Avatar can do this in one episode very well) I'm watching Lion-O fighting to save his brother one day and while thats going on, wiley kit & kat are goofing off, then theres no mention of the pain that Tygra went through chronologically later.
Some of the writing is very lazy, with a faux-love triangle build to be simply shrugged off later, would it kill them to have an emotional break for a character to become better from, while the other accepts their role in the damages done and moves on from it.
Perhaps I'm asking too much of a show intended for kids, but dammit Avatar was able to introduce racism, political aggression, rebellion, mythology and some real character growth from the beginning to end, why the hell can't they do something like this with Thundercats?
So, is it bad-no, but its a lot like most shows these days, hopefully it will get better before the end.

OH! MY! GOD! 7.2 on the rating scale, looks like metacritic has a load of fanboys and girls in its users. If I disliked the first series, the second gave me a coffin and nails to bury it in, everything is a complete let down, Anna is no longer the dark, manipulative character she was in the first. Now she's reduced to a bargain box style of bad guy out for revenge, that coupled with some character growth in Lisa makes the series very bitter tasting to me.
There was plenty to work with in this series, good ideas just popping up on the surface of this utter cesspool of mediocre writing styles that shows particularly in Tyler's actions and reactions-if the world is what these idiots are writing(that coupled with the Terra Nova character Josh)where the older teens are just angst ridden morons who scream 'you don't understand me!'(which is usually the early or mid teens) then I might just off myself.
And the ending-oh the ending, that is the complete and total clichà and what cements my opinion that it is good that it's dead. Let it stay that way, because IF it were to be somehow revived with the current storyline, then the idiocy of which they write out how 'some' people are either uneffected by the new Human Bliss or how not being outdoors makes you safe from it.

V: Season 10

Well, we know how it ended and we know this...whoever was behind letting the 'brain trust' of Rosenbaum, Peters, Hall, Simoneau and Pearlman should be completely out of a job. Because everything from the moment the series started to how it was ended showed how stupid and ridiculous the idea of Sci-Fi(of Syfy as it's creators prefer) is going in the world. This series gave the original a bad name(and that one was a god AWFUL mess of bad writing) the only saving grace I can see is Morena Baccarin as Anna, she can show a convincing bad guy, which-again-is missing in the world of 'SyFy' these days.

Primeval: Season 10

Having watched seasons 1-4, I decided to post a General Review on the beginning. This is perhaps a prime example of bad thinking - British style! And I hate pointing this out, being British myself, but no one seems to either want to or to see it. Everything, from the writing, casting, development and production is flawed, in -oh so many ways. There are no genuine characters in this series, only 'character types' i.e. the angry and surly genius, the gun toting hotty, the token female sex kitten, the goofy oddball and the main character love interest. This kind of sloppy, ham-fisted way of writing is(unfortunately)a staple of British drama, with only a few things not tied to that horrible brush. While I will express interest and general enthusiasm in the visuals(the animals are all very well done, especially for a British TV budget)-I'm not willing or able to forgive the horrid thing that the visuals make up for. You watch a show, not for the graphics you get to see, but to watch the story unfold, to become interested in the characters and want them to succeed. If-as I am-you're a sci-fi lover, do not expect rational explanations for this, the flag of suspension of disbelief is flying high over this series from the get-go. While with time travel, you can use the flag, this series uses it unabashedly constantly and gives tenchobable answers that would make the crews of Voyager and the NX Enterprise turn and say 'Huh?' As the series progresses, you'd think that the writing would improve and the story would get going(we all can agree that it's a rarity that any series gets it all right on the first season)but you'd be wrong, as the series progresses, the rationalizations get more and more ludicrous, to such a level at the end of season three that I practically had to turn off my brain to get through it. I'm not expecting a great deal out of season five and I seriously hope that they don't do a season six, plug that money for something that has decent characters and story. All in all, the series was flawed from the beginning, with the creator of the documentary Walking with Dinosaurs coming up with the initial pitch idea-ideas for documentaries don't translate well into drama-EVER!
