I have played New World for 27 hours and will place my review. I participated in the beta version of New World and drifted off to other games before coming back to New World. They acted like I was getting all this great stuff when I pre-ordered, but I was not. They give you some new skins, but they are constrained. I thought I would get much more by being a part of the beta testing. I will also state that New World is becoming less popular as time goes on and not the other way around. Less and fewer people play this game. Also, during busy server time, I have to lower my graphics settings to remove game stutter. I think gameplay could get old, too, as New World is a borderline hack and slash game. I think the graphics are beautiful in this game and the design is well made. I like the Company system and faction system. This game is inexpensive compared to WoW or UO, which can run into the thousands if played for years. This game has a down payment, which allows it to include lower SES players than other MMORPGs. The market system is rewarding and straightforward. Resource gathering is pleasant, and the storyline is pretty good for an MMORPG. As for character development, there is no ceiling, which is interesting. Even after one maxes out their skills, there is a lot to do. UPDATE: I forgot to mention my input latency is unbelievable with this game. I get from 100 - 112 ms, and Ultima Online allowed me about half that amount, 50-70 ms. This considerable lag makes any chance of excelling in PvP obsolete. This point brings my review down to 8/10, still positive because there are many solo things someone can do in the game or PvE. The game supports gamers using Discord and makes ample opportunity to socially network with friends, which only enriches the gaming experience. NW supports the opportunity to use Discord through the development and maintenance of a Company, which is a guild. I found a guild that links to Discord, and there is much social input here, making the game a lot more fun. So, it is nice that NW supports this kind of connection through Companies. Because of NW's support, I leave my review one step higher, a 9/10. UPDATE I have heard gossip that this game's markets are rigged and easily cheated by players. Seeing that this is a very important aspect of the game, I cannot risk it and take down my rating to a 7/10.

Ultima Online

In conclusion, the attraction of online games is clear when looking at its social aspect. I think this attraction is healthy and I still prefer to play an online game versus a fixed in-person game. However, it is clearly unhealthy to compare your character with someone else’s or to look at how another person’s gameplay experience is different than my own. I try to focus on my own gameplay, and I realize that there will be others better or more successful at the game than myself. Typically, this social power is unconscious with others in the game. Because the game is social and not a fixed game, it is clear to me that each player has a unique different experience than each other. As they say, we are comparing apples and oranges. While this social power had led to things like competitive gaming, I still think everyone has their own personal experience with any online game and to compare would be faulty every time – leading to addiction or loss in real life, such as my grades in school or my loss of sleep time. If people want to be competitive, I think the only way to really weigh who is better is to have an in-person multiplayer system, where the video competition uses the same system with separate controllers, like when I was a kid. Multiped, done face-to-face is the only accurate gauge or a true weighing of apples to apples. Online gaming does not do this, and it is misinterpreted to be as such. However, the attraction of online gaming is nice and fun to enjoy. Competitiveness still belongs to in-person play, in my opinion. I give Ultima Online an 8/10 because it was a pioneer in many ways and opened the world of online gaming to new heights, heights that many gaming companies now can take for granted. The social power can be both pleasant and painful in UO. However, if we learn to be cognizant of unconscious comparisons, the game can be very fun. UPDATE I now play UO avoiding all violence and drug use in the game. I give this game a 6/10 if I play like this. Firstly, UO has many significantly underpopulated servers, and I think this is misleading new players. There are hardly any players on these servers. Then, if you play on their populated server (Atlantic), it is overly crowded. It's sort of the wild west out there regarding server population. Most servers lack a dedicated player base, and I have spent a lot of my time on these, only to be disgusted by the number of players to buy from my vendors. I don't like Atlantic because it's hard even getting a spot or selling anything on there due to over-saturation. Maybe there is a server more in the middle player-wise, but I all the ones I checked was either bustling or struggling during peak hours. Also, I keep hearing about cheating in this game: Whether it is harvesting robots or other hacks leading to an influx of vendor sales. If Ultima Online has an online game, I need to not hear this gossip amongst players of cheats because I am investing a lot of my time and money into the game. It needs to be equitable for all players, and it appears that the game has too many cheaters.

I could never really get into this game. I think part of it was the playstyle, laggy graphics, and other things. I tried to paly the game many times, but it wasn't like the The Sims 2 or The Sims 3 for me. The game got boring fast. Character creation was nice in The Sims 4. House building had some merit in this game too.

This game is certainly made for a young audience. It is suffering from a lack of players, so playing during the nighttime hours has about 5 people playing. It was just okay for me.

This game is a great way to learn how to type on the computer. It works! I frequently got lost in this game, and playing the story mode can sometimes be tricky as the puzzles sometimes take over the typing in the game. I wish the game focused more on the arena aspect and the fighting aspect of the game. Instead, the game puts much time into random puzzles, and I didn't buy the game for puzzles but wanted to learn to type better. Because of its lengthy puzzles and running around the world map, I was just okay with this game, and likely won't play it.

I played probably roughly 1,000 hours. I was able to max out an Archer character, start a new player guild, and reach the highest forms of PvE. This game is inventive, and the crafting system uses crafting tables and the like for the first time. The graphics are reasonable, and the players I encountered were friendly and helpful. However, this game was full of bugs. The game was largely unpopulated. It is pretty taxing on your computer system; you have to have a decent GPU.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault

I disagree with the current reviews. This game was too difficult. I found in many later missions that I got stuck multiple times on the medium difficulty. Some maps I simply could not play - even on easy diffuclty. That is weird because I consider myself an excellent FPS gamer: been playing them for years. I was doing well and then, suddenly, I was stuck for like an hour in the same thing fight, die, respawn and do it again. The graphics are not suitable for this game, as it is undoubtedly an older game from the early 2000's (I write this review much later in 2022). On a sour note, I bought the game and found that the multiplayer was discontinued for this video game. Also, this game has D-day, but it is way too hard. I mean, I get it that D-day was a hard thing for our troops to do, but I died too many times on that beach. The game developers needed to make it at least passable for me on the medium difficulty level. Even easy difficulty was way too hard to make it up that beach ultimately. Once I breached the beach sand walls, I gave up because I could not get past some **** sharpshooters. I have played FPS since I was 13, so it is not excusable to make a game too complicated - it makes me think they didn't properly test it. The mechanisms were suitable in the game, and the action of shooting and aiming were 10/10. It had a good storyline and made me want to complete missions. Medal of Honor: Allied Assault was engaging. I had to look and see where the enemy was during night missions. It was exciting too, sometimes enemy would come out of nowhere, and it was full of surprises. The video game is really good that it had a single player, because I live in Hawaii, and we have high ping numbers out here. So, the loss of a multiplayer was not such a big deal.

This game is viral. So popular, I decided to give it a try. I ended up playing for 165 hours. It is the kind of game you tell yourself that you're done playing and end up coming back to it repeatedly. Since it is a online game, it certainly helps that it is so popular. That makes the ways to play the game infinite, as your opponents are someone completely new. The graphics are decent in this game, and the mechanics are good. The game never got boring. Also, there are some highly skilled gamers in this online community. Sometimes it is unbelievable to how dedicated the gamers are to this game, some spending upwards to 2,000+ hours on it. You will find committed gamers playing this game, and yes, there is much competition playing this game! The competitive nature of the game was a thorn in my side. This thorn is personal, but it does affect my feelings about this game. See, winning is very important to all that play this game. Many people are playing, so the competitive nature is given a spotlight. I just could not match against anyone in this game. It was not that I did not play long enough, I mean 165 hours is a long time to me. Raised on 007 Nintendo shooters in late 1990's, I know I am a competent FPS gamer. I have come to terms with a tremendous ping rate, since I live on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean: Hawaii. Hawaii has the highest ping of any US state (2022 data) because of its physical distance from the Main Land. I do not see this changing anytime soon, because you cannot bring the islands closer to the Main Land. This CS:GO game is all about accuracy; you have to align a target with a player by using the mouse. However, if you live in a state with high ping, you will not beat the other guy with 20 ms. It will not happen, I feel, regardless of my skill level. I was about 80 ms and it just was too slow to enjoy this highly precise game. I played the game with a shotgun, something where precision was not needed. However, even then, one has to react when turning corners. A Hawaii ping will not work with this game at all, leaving me with a bad feeling. If I lived somewhere with a 10 - 20 ms ping, I am sure this game would be a green eight or nine. Personally, I have to review it as a 5 - because the game relies far too much on ping to be successful. Yes, I am sure if I played the game for 2000 or even 1000 hours I would be good enough to hold my own... but I just didn't see the benefit to that as I was pretty crushed. If you generally have a high ping when playing video games, do yourself a favor and do not play this game. Everything will rely on that low ping, so do not waste your time.

Terraria

This game has horrible graphics, and unlike similar games, it has the main character tiny on the screen. There is no story in this video game as it lacks any meaningful in-game culture. It lacks proper storytelling and does not have a narrative. It's just fighting boss A, then boss B, and finding the key to boss C's room. It is just about killing. I mean, there is building housing involved, but the mechanics get old fast for the most part. There are only so many sword swipes over my character's head before I get bored. Minecraft inspires the graphics in Terraria. It is a pixelated universe. So, those that love this game generally like pixelated video games. It seems like a new thing - going back to the original pixelated games of Mario Brothers. Terraria generally has a young audience that plays it, though I think a handful of adults love it. I am an adult and played the game for 80 hours. I oddly was unable to past even close to the majority of boss battles in 80 hours. The game was tough for me to play - which I think it's too complicated. If an adult gamer cannot easily play this game, then how will children win in this game? Maybe I was not good at this video game. On the positive side, the game has a very upbeat feel. Everything is very colorful, and it is all about playing for fun. Constructed with unique and creative gaming mechanisms, Terraria is a path blazer in the video game community. I have talked to several kids who have played it, and they all love it. I have yet to meet someone who does not just adore this game. So, I think it is perfect for the kid gamer. I think the kids like this game because it is very playful. It is a challenge in hand-eye coordination, but kids are often up to this game's challenge! This video game is not something I would continue playing, but I certainly give it a nod. It is a compelling game.

Starbound

A student of mine was very much into this game, maybe too into it. I started to play it, and I loved it right away. The universe in this space game is vast, more extensive than I will ever have enough time to explore. So, this platformer is vast. The culture in the game is thick, with lots to read and learn. It was great to relate with my student about this game, we had hours of time talking about it - he clearly thought this game was a 10/10. The game is similar to Terraria, but is placed in a futuristic background. It is so similar to Terraria, Starbound seems inspired from it. I loved the storyline of Starbound. I played the game for almost 100 hours. The graphics in Starbound look like they come from Minecraft, so it attracts a younger generation of gamers. I certainly would not have played this game if not for my student. However, to be honest, it grew on me after I started to play it. Starbound is geared to a young audience. Playing this game was almost embarrassing to admit to other adults that I played it, as it is purposely childish in its gameplay and in-game culture. In some sense, exploring planets got somewhat old, and late in the game, it has a loop in the gameplay experience. Explore, plunder, do a mission, repeat. While it is a vast universe to explore in Starbound, the mechanics are just too dull after a while.

The Crew 2 has excellent graphics, is a beautiful game, and always has something to do. It has most vehicle brands available, as I was able to find a dream BMW motorcycle. Modeled after actual roadways through GPS information, the game is an inspired creation of the United States. It has a timing system of night and day. It also has weather cycles, with watered-down roads being harder to drive. For the casual racer, it allows for comfortable difficulty-level choices. The storyline is good, and the characters you can choose from are likable. The game is done solely through the use of the SWAD keys. There is no use of the right hand, as it only uses one hand and tends to call for the non-dominate hand, which is very hard for most of us right-hand dominant people. Also, in FPS, both coordination of the right and left hands are used simultaneously, which adds to the benefits of hand-eye coordination. I tried to play multiple racing with online participants, waited close to 5:00 minutes in a waiting lobby, and called it quits. It seems not many people play the multiplayer version of this game.
