Starfield3

A bland adventure into a partitioned and repetitive world(s). Very average in all respects, I doubt we will see more Starfield titles.

Baldur's Gate 310
Aug 10, 2023
The absolute cherry of the Baldurs Gate series comes in 20 years after I played the first one, and I was not disappointed. The best CRPG experience I've ever had. Story telling, immersion, free choice and finally a game that respects and rewards you playing it your way. Game of the year no doubt.

Pillars of Eternity10

I've been waiting for this game for over 10 years and Obsidian delivered beyond my expectations. When I realised I'd spent 40 minutes on the character creation screen alone, I knew I had "found my game". Been a long time since that's happened.

Day One : Garry's Incident0
Oct 21, 2013
One of the few times in my life that I've actually been angry at myself for NOT listening to the community before buying this game. When you set this against the back drop of the disgraceful abuse of the YouTube copyright system, it's worth taking the time to pen a quick review so that others may avoid this game and not support this kind of title from making it on to steam.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim9

This game defines a genre and is without question, the best RPG gaming experience currently available to human kind. Although I will deduct one point for a long list of bugs and the ongoing CTD errors :)

Dungeons of Dredmor9

A wonderful rogue-liek adventure romp, filled with dry british humour and lots of fun. The game is also dangerously difficult, just as this genre is meant to be.

Age of Empires Online5

AoE online is an okay RTS. The problem is, it's the most expensive okay RTS out there. Be warned if you're playing on an internet connection that isn't 100% stable too - as this game will boot you to the menu screen as soon as you experience even the slightest drop out.

Portal 210
Apr 19, 2011
Portal 2 is good, no wait, it's VERY good. It delivers on it's promise and introduces us to rich new world. I won't give away spoilers, but if you liked Portal you will LOVE the second sequel. This sets a benchmark which developers need to take note of. Sequels can be amazing. They can build on the past and make it even better. Do yourself a favour this Easter long weekend - Buy Portal 2, lock yourself away and enjoy.

Minecraft10

0.o Minecraft is insanely addictive yet so very simple. It has soul, it has character, it has creepers. This is gaming at it's finest - back to basics indie development at it's best.

Dragon Age II3
Mar 10, 2011
The Dragon Age story has lost it's soul with this console-implementation. It's incredibly dumbed down, and feels like a simplified game you would expect on an iPhone or mobile device. While the graphics are indeed amazing, the voice acting fine and the interface slick - it's just disappointing. The unusually high average scores from professional "reviewers" just shows how large the divide between commercial expectations and end-user expectations really are.

Sid Meier's Civilization V10
Sep 27, 2010
Civ 5 lives up to all of my expectations and continues with the strong traditional "just one my turn" game play. They have made some good tweaks to the game mechanics that I was hoping for and the graphics overhaul is very nice. Definitely one of the most addictive games on this planet - beware!

Ship Simulator Extremes0
Sep 22, 2010
This has to be the most disappointing purchase in many years for me. The game lacks any kind of depth and is unashamedly a "work in progress". You have a small selection of ship types and tiny areas to play with the boats in. The only controls you have is steering, thrusters and speed. All of the detailed controls are images only and you can't interact with them. Rarely do I feel as ripped off as I do with this game - there's just nothing to it. I have seen more realistic iPhone Ship games than this. To call it a simulation is a downright lie.

Silent Hunter 5: Battle of the Atlantic3
Sep 22, 2010
This game was a huge disappointment. There is an inherent mouse lag that makes the game almost enjoyable despite it's reasonable graphics. The user interface is clunky, unintuitive and downright buggy in parts. It has a steep learning curve, slow to load and frustrating. Feels half finished - don't waste your time or money.
