The focus of the game is guild based PVP, but because the game is aggressively pay to win, it's a pretty bad time as a f2p or small spender. The gear available in the cash shop is straight up better than anything that can be obtained in the gacha. On top of this, there is a weekly subscription which lets you access twice as much AP and level your character twice as quickly. And if the above was not pay to win enough, the gacha rates are abysmal while new banners come really quickly. The amount of currency you get for free is pretty stingy, so it's basically impossible to keep up with the power creep unless you buy more currency. The game also isn't very fun to play outside of PVP. Events feature minimal writing and consist of doing a single stage over and over with no variation. Raids are difficult to complete as F2P with the most recent event requiring access to very specific gear and character levels that are out of reach for most. The grinding is also inconvenient because a lot of content in this game such as EXP dungeons, raids, PVP, etc. are all only available for a limited duration at set times throughout the day. I think the game is designed to appeal to only the most hardcore who are willing to sink a ton of time and money. The music and art are lovely though.

Not really sure why this title gets hated on so much. I'm guessing it's mostly because avid fans of the original were expecting the second game to be very similar to the first. It's definitely different, but, in and of itself, I felt like it was an entertaining game. I think the bad points are already well known: -levels get re-used a lot, which feels lazy -can't equip your companions, so you find a lot of neat gear but can't put it on anybody -overall, a bit rushed feeling. for example, there's a lot of generic rings, etc. that you find But there was also plenty of good: -improved skill trees -more original storyline. Most every other rpg is about saving the world. This gets dull. DAII is a more personal story about a refugee and a city (I do wish the city changed more over the course of the game though). I also thought the framed narrative made for some cute moments. -combat was fast paced and flexible, so you could pretty much have whatever sort of party you wanted. If you were really in love with the more strategic, pause and play style of fighting from DA, you might be disappointed in the new style. I happen to like both, so it was fine for me. Overall, the game was fun to play which is basically all that really matters to me. If you really, really wanted another dragon age origins, this isn't it. If you're just looking for a solid rpg, however, then DAII is pretty good.

I feel like I spend most of my time in game waiting for things to happen - waiting for the buildings I selected to be built, waiting for workers to produce goods, waiting for the ship to arrive and take the goods.... It's tedious and a bit like watching paint dry. I even found myself playing a second game on my ipad at the same time because this one was boring me. Once you discover the optimum strategy for building up your town, you pretty much find yourself repeating the same actions over and over again for each scenario despite the objectives presumably being different each time. The humor is good, the storyline is okay, and I usually like building games, but the frustration factor outweighs the entertainment for me. I'd only recommend Tropico 4 if you have a lot of free time to watch repetitive things happening at a tortoise pace.
