Characters the fans of FF10 loved. A new plot. A flashy looking, well presented game. hard for me to get past the FF Barbie dress up combat theme though. Clothes power and teen rock star heart throb power propel the girls to victory! it is worth a play though. It has it's charms for all the whackyness. I would never consider this a mainline entry to the FF series. It is what it is.

I would rate this higher if the game had been advertised for what it is: FF pokemon. It wasn;t. I bought this based on ads and the actual description on the game and by Square/Enix and discovered a few hours in what it was truly about. this would have made a mobile game or even a gatcha game. They passed it off as a main series spin off. Spin off alright, right into a completely unrelated game category. Someday copies of this may be worth money, it is going to become scarce as people toss it out of their collections.

Probably the darkest game in the entire franchise. Covered over by a lot of smiles and good intentions. Fitting for the times it was released, really. S not in my top 5. Probably won;t replay for many years. Original release version of the skill trees forces characters into specific roles. HD release later at least fixes this. Some major character twists at the end make an otherwise crazy disjointed story make sense. Did not care to play through 95% of the game with a narrative told to you and the story loosely following that, and then find out how it really is at the end of it all. Not the franchises best work, certainly not the best story telling. Blonde water soccer kids english voice in the original release is so unpolished it made me cringe multiple times. Possibly one of the worst VA directing jobs in memory. Was the entire script done in one take? Overall the game is worth playing, just only in the HD remaster version. The downsides do not outweigh the upsides. Worth experiancing.

An excellent game. Characters are not all kids for once. The main character, is not the character you start the game with. Once you understand this and how the story plays out, the characters become a lot more endearing. this is not explicitly stated in the game. But once you play into it a ways, you will also realize this. The game has aged very well. Ivalice is a great background for FF games.

fans hated on this when it released. Mostly because it was different. The game basically plays out where you do some of the main story, but ALL of the side quests in the early and mid game. Late game is about the story. There is no "saving at the end boss" and then running around back through all the planet to do a bunch of end game boss fights or power ups. People didn't know how to handle this at release. It was a vast departure from previous entries. The cast is good. The characters are endearing. The ending beats you over the head without mercy. There is a ton to make you laugh and think of good times. bad things happen that you don't want to. All part of excellent story telling. Combat is fast and easy to learn, hard to master. Some of the experiances in the game are something you can only experiance, and not really describe. Like the chocobo farm. will replay this game periodically

This game is on the brink of being great, and falls short. I enjoyed most of the combat. Except blindsides. Which are integral into the combat balance, so it made the game more **** as ignoring them forces you to overlevel and power through. This was still OK, as most of the combat was fun, flashy. You can get straightup stun locked and killed from 100% to dead by basic enemies. Not frequently, but there are a few that can chain things and time it so you can't escape. The maps puzzles are not well designed. Mostly just a method to force you to run back and forth and fight more. Good thing the fighting isn;t too bad, and the leveling is required. leveling is required because the difficulty spike when you get to an area boss is some of the worst I have seen in 40 years of gaming. you can go from wiping the floor in under 30 seconds with the regular enemies on a map to getting wrecked in a minute by the boss of the area. Bosses generally have a method, but it is such a narrow window you end up either lucking out or grinding until you can tank their damage, which slows the game down immensly. One boss in particular, punishes you for being further away, but then will respond by punishing you hard for closing in. Your party AI lacks, bad. They will stand in front of the train so to speak. Plus: Buzz Lightyear equipped with megaman armor. Main character combat is fun, and the character is relatively entertaining Areas are fun to explore. Puzzles are simple, but serve their purpose Enemies are interesting, but you can get bored with them due to grind, still, the enemies seem well designed. Cons:' You are going to take a robotic 6 year old on a space adventure, Kay? boss difficulty spike is absurd and ruins the game pace You will get stun locked The bonus board is integral to grinding. you will watch in horror as one enemy crit hit drops half the board off. When you fill the board, if it starts to fill with the red nodes that recover hp/mp, you might as well let it get destroyed. This is gauranteed to happen if you lose a high XP bonus board. Blindsides ****. Unless you like them. Too bad it is such an important game mechanic. Overall the game design on paper is really good, and it plays out as a fun game, until it isn't. And then it becomes a massive chore until you can get past whatever you are stuck on through sheer willpower. I have picked this game up and put it down 4 times over the years, only finishing it once. It has too many flaws. Potentially could have been one of the best in the series. In reality, may be the worst. Other titles in the series may have nitpick issues. The Last Hope has legit, real tangible issues. Give it a try if you find it on sale. You won;t miss out if you skip it though.

People hate on this game. I like the characters. I liked the combat I liked the side quests, the running around doing the little private actions for interactions with the characters I liked. I liked the world it was in, it was fun to explore. I really don't get the hate. What did people not like? Everyone just says "I thought it was meh" and hands out a 4/10. Like the cool kids have to say it was bad. Don't like revisiting the same battle field to fight the same monsters? Use a different character this time. They all play well, and they all play very differently. There is an aspect of grinding in this game if you want to unlock everything. Not nearly as much as others in the series that got higher marks, or many other JRPG games. But some, you need to work for some of the rewards. Made them feel like accomplishments then. I found this game satisfying to play and complete, and will revisit it again in the future when I have mostly forgotten the private action moments.
