This game was amazing back in the day. The skill ceiling was decently high and there were plenty of ways for players to express that skill. P2W still existed but there was less stuff to buy so f2p people could catch up. At some point they decided it was a good idea to completely overhaul the graphics and add random things like Overdrives, Drones, protection modules, augments and turrets that make taking cover behind anything pointless. They didn't bother balancing them or at least it doesn't seem like they did. A lot of people stopped playing around the time they added overdrives. Now they're planning to add grenades that further disincentivize using cover, lower the skill ceiling and make you spend more. Not to mention they kept inflating the game's economy every year and even added a new currency to get around spending real money for items (now you spend money on the currency to buy items, same thing really). They also added containers as a way to gamble for equipment and further waste your time (they are just like any other lootbox except the odds are worse than any other game I've seen). The future of this game doesn't look bright.
