Tribes: Ascend

Oh gosh, where do i start? I love FPS genre, I play alot of shooters, single/multi alike. I got **** into the world of Tribes almost instantly. This game is purely awesome. It does everything right and when it doesnt - devs quickly alter it to match what community demands. It's great to know that Tribes: Ascend is still expanding, still getting better. Plenty of goodies, dlc's and patches ahead of us. I dont consider it as Free to Play... because it's almost a crime not to pay for it, it is SO ENJOYABLE. Yes, it is free. It gives you three basic classes and a possibility to upgrade them without paying a penny. It will take more time to unlock your desirable gear, but it is possible to fully enjoy this game without contributing any money... Nevertheless, i felt guilty not to pay. Hi-Rez Studios should know that this game made my day a lot of times and still Im totally in love with their game. Ok, but more about the product - Tribes: Ascend is fast paced, skill-oriented, teamplay shooter. If offers great gameplay and huge, well designed maps (most of the time about 32 players at once). The gimmick of Tribes is skiing - as you move down the slope you can slide and gain momentum. Then, jet packing uphill helps you maintain speed. Combine this and you can achieve even more than 200km/h of pure speed! (when playing the lightest class) Hard to imagine? Watch some gameplays or trailers on youtube. Some people here complained about "going thru the map and meeting no one" or "it's to fast to hit anybody". Sorry, but that's BS. Game is perfectly designed and I suggest PLAYING IT for real and not making stuff up. For those saying "it's boring and easy, just wait for somebody to land" I recommend watching some 'blue plate special' (air kills) videos on yt. Also, play Capture The Flag. Team Deathmatch is more of a warm-up before the real thing. The same with the Arena Mode. It's all good, but CTF is THE ESSENCE of Tribes. Skill and teamplay is all that matters. See you on the battlefields, sandrakers! 10 out of 10. It's a perfect game for me.

It's NOT a proper Syndicate game. What did you expect? On every trailer it looks NOTHING like Syndicate or Syndicate Wars. There's no point in **** about it. That's what they did and maybe it was not a good idea, but what's done is done. There's only one question now - is it a decent game? Well, partly yes. Single player storyline is focused around Eurocorp agent Miles Kilo. We dont know much about him and that won't change through out the game. Making him a silent protagonists wasnt a good idea... it's hardly ever a good idea. Story is generic to say at least, but it holds up, somehow. Gunplay is fun, it's the best part of the game along with so called "breaches". You can literally "hack" someone and force him to commit suicide or side with you for a moment. Nice idea, nice possibilities. Apart from that, the whole gameplay feels like a copy of Deus Ex, but without the rpg and stealthy elements. Yes, there's an upgrade system, but it changes nothing really. Oh yeah, lower recoil ...or 20% more health. Great. Like the others said, it's a generic shooter. I had fun, but nothing really to come back to. It's barely decent. Then the co-op mode - far better. It involves Left4Dead-like gameplay, including strong cooperation between 4 players. As single player appears to be a generic shooter, co-op mode is a fps game with tactical elements. You can choose your class, earn experience, upgrade your agent and your weapons. There's no way You burst in and kill everyobody, not without a significant help of your agent-friends. I haven't play it for long, but im looking forward to do that. It holds a lot of promise. Concluding, generic single player, good co-op... I feel some missed opportunities here. Six out of ten is my final word. It means - good game. Just good. Should have been much better, but still - co-op saves it all.

It surely falls in the similar category as Zombie Driver... but Zombie Driver was fun and Wasteland Angel is not. Simple as that. The idea might seem fine and the introduction cutscene is promising. Well, there's no real expectations, but maybe this game it's at least not **** As i said, cutscenes are nice and comic-styled with some cheesy voice acting. But that's fine, it's not so bad. Then - the gameplay. It's just plain BORING. If you want to keep me engaged, you need to offer something more than generic arena shooter... without any story or interesting hooks in gameplay. To beat the game, you need to get through 7 chapters, all containing the same objectives. Areas differ, but only slightly. First task is to defend the city (or cities) from wastelanders/mutants, second is the same but at night, then you've got the boss battle and bonus stage. Rinse and repeat 'till you beat them all. It wouldnt be a big complain if the actual gameplay was fun enough... but it's not. Doing the same things over and over again, makes you wanna quit the game after 30minutes. Controls feel awkward, your car is like a plastic rc model. You'll need some time to master it, but then again - you'll get bored before that happen. In conclusion, i got the game in a bundle, so im not really bothered with losing my money. But i can't find any reason to buy it for the full price. One point for comic-styled cutscenes, one point for decent music, one point for trying at all. Full score: 3/10.

You have to undrestand my frustration. I've bought the game, started it... got through registration, finally launched the proper game... I've waited 10 minutes in freaking matchmaking lobby... And then... Match starts.. LAGS!!! This game is terribly optimized... Pc port **** major ass. How can i review Gotham City Impostors, if my game lags like hell ? It's totally unplayable, framerate drops BELOW 20fps. That's a total DISGRACE. There's no actual explanation for such bad performance, this game seems to lag without any reason. Yes, devs promised patching this and other issues. IN MARCH. **** my %^(#. Really. Two points, because this game seems like a great fun... I will change this grade to higher IF IT'LL ACTUALLY WORK.

One word - unique. It's hardly a game. Not much of gameplay here, but story is great and visuals astonishing. You just move your character across the island, hearing the cryptic narration, looking for clues, enjoying the landscapes... Nothing is really explained here, you need to put the puzzles together in your own head. You'll finish your first playthrough in about 1,5 h and Im pretty sure you'll find yourself staring in the ending screen... trying to make sense of all what you have seen.. then again, you'll visit the island one more time. And maybe one more... Great experience, great game, great art. Why 10 out of 10? It's a masterpiece in it's own genre.. I can't think of any other project, so emotional, so engaging .. with so less effort. There's no special effects here, no bombs exploding, no tragic deaths on screen.. There's just the island, the mystery, voice of the narrator.. Blowing wind, shadows playing tricks on you.. And music. Beautiful music.

Everything about this game is said in previous reviews. Unique story, great gameplay, decent graphics.. You will really feel connected with Jackie Estacado and all what he does. The plot is well written and executed. It's not so common in shooters anymore. I'll honestly say - The Darkness 2 is one of the most enjoyable FPS i played the last year. It makes You feel powerful, it's bloody as hell, dual-wielding kicks major ass and darkling is pretty funny. Enough of this chaotic mumble, i've got only one serious issue about this game. It's really, really TOO SHORT. I've finished the game on Thug difficulty (guess it's "normal"), then I played it again on the highest difficulty (New Game+ feauture). After that, Vendettas Co-op campaign, Vendettas Hit-list missions... There's 15 h of gameplay on my clock and 50/50 achievements done. So... Nothing else to do. Keep in mind, not everyone will play the whole game two times or finish co-op mode... So, for the of the people, gameplay time will be shorter. Still, great game, 8 points well earned.

Piece of great retro fun. Cannon Fodder brought back to life! Unfortunately, you'll finish it in 2 - 3 h. I know, it's one-man project and Rich promised updates .. but still Pineapple Smash Crew lacks features. There's only one game mode, no difficulty settings, no achivements. On top of that - only three mission modes, only ONE type of boss to fight... Yes, i had my fun, i find this game totally amazing, but we need MORE. For now, i guess it's hardly worth the price.. Only if you're retro games fan, you'll find it amusing. Conclusion - 7/10. This grade is a bit too high, because i love the concept... But i believe it will be updated and totally worth it. Beat Hazard it's a game for a 15 minute break. Don't get me wrong, that's actually an upside! Such productions are not made to engage player for long hours of gameplay - it's not even possible with this one, because of it's overloaded visuals. I would compare it with Audiosurf - that's logical, but those games have very less in common. Of course, your mp3's create levels in both games, but Beat Hazard is a classical space-shooter, like Asteroids. It's rapid, flashy and punishes you for every mistake... and yes, visuals are very intense. That's why it's perfect for 15 minutes break - your eyes won't get tired. Unfortunately, developers could really spice up some features.. and they did not. Your music has very questionable influence on your game - sometimes it kinda catch up, other times it fails totally. When you use more advanced perks (you unlock them when clearing songs) and turn the difficulty up, it seems to match the music in a better way... but still, it's not so precise as Audiosurf. In conclusion - pretty nice game, for all arcade shooter fans. Grab it when there's a discount and be sure to buy the "ultra" edition, with many more perks to unlock and new enemies.

It really can cause a seizure as somebody here wrote. I played Beat Hazard, the game which is even more flashy than this one and it's not affecting me that way. Believe me, im not usually having such problems - it's the first game EVER that made me feel dizzy. The core gameplay is combination of classical pong and a musical game.. The idea is nice, but i can't really tell anything about it... Cause im getting sick after 10 minutes with this game. One thing i can say, there's only 3 levels. I managed to beat first one so im guessing it's pretty short experience.

The concept seems fine - you start as a rock, grow and become a planet, later star. Finally you "own" other planets and develop a star system etc. Throw in an atmospheric music and some task or missions to perform in-game... and it should work. Sadly, it's not. I have to admit, this game is original, but in the other hand it's also pretty boring. It could be punishing and challenging, but instead of this - you can save your progress anytime and respawn instantly with any system you saved previously. It means you don't have to build up every time you get owned. Which is fine, overall casual feel of Solar2 makes it a good game for a relaxing 15 minutes at work. Nevertheless, this game fails at engaging the player. You don't really care about it and when game reaches it's conclusion (and it does it very very quickly), there's nothing to come back for. You just won't play it again. It's too shallow, too repetitive, too easy.

Charming, well designed and entertaining. Xotic is a real gem, original gameplay makes it unforgettable and very enjoyable. In general, it's colorful and neat-looking arcade shooter that involves some classic elements, as well some new ideas. The storyline is simple, but it has it's charm. Your character is a saviour, created to liberate the universe from entity called The Orb. Mysterious villain strips planets of life to prolong it's existence, so there's nothing to think about... We're about to save some planets! Gameplay is based on making the highest score possible and there's a few ways to do that. Mostly - you need to create chains, shooting scabs (it seems like The Orb seeds... or something like it;)). The longer the chain, the better. You'll need to be quite fast too, you will achieve points for speedy clearance of levels. There's plenty of powerups and bonus points scattered all around the levels ... and dont forget The Orb minions trying to stop you. So as you see, there's plenty to do. Especially when you want to gain 5-star rating on a specific level, it gets pretty challenging. Mastering the best way to achieve chains, bonus points and so called "aerial combos" (collecting bonuses while in mid-air) is hard, but you'll get hang of it. Game offers campaign and variable speed/accuracy trials - it will **** you up for a few hours of exciting gameplay. Atmospheric and indeed FUN gameplay. It won't cost you much (4 euros now on steam holiday sale), if you're fan of arcade shooting you need to pick it up. Xotic was updated not so long ago, offering new game modes and extended tutorial so as you see - developers seem to care about the content. There's also some new levels in the making, marked in game as "Coming Soon". Xotic lives and im looking forward to new content!

I always prefered rpg's or fps than racing games. To be perfectly honest, I always get tired of such games pretty quick. But Skydrift is not ordinary racing game. Skydrift is everything i need to feel entertained. Fast paced, very intense and totally mind-blowing. Forget about cars, planes are much cooler! .. Forget about fair-play - if you cant overtake someone, fire up your rockets or leave mines on your opponents way;) But that's not the most interesting part - flying your plane across the stages, accelerating to absurd speeds and doing crazy stunts makes you feel really good. Controls are great, but without an xbox controller, there's no way you can push your plane to its limits. If you own one, get ready for intense action! Im totally amazed about the idea to use two analog sticks. Left one is responsible for turning/shifting your plane, right one turns your plane into knife position. Believe me, you'll quickly become the master of flying through tight spots and finding shortcuts. Stages are well designed, but sometimes not so clear as you would think. There are some places you can't go - there are some places that seems like obvious shorter ways but game wouldnt allow you to fly there. It's annoying at first, but after you memorize the stages... problem dissapears:) Unfortunatly there's only 6 race tracks and 3 game modes. It's not much. To be honest it is too less to be content. Oh well, at least there's eight cool looking planes to choose from .. and three more if you're willing to pay additional 1,50E. What else can i say...? Buy the game, it's totally amazing plane-racing experience ! Buy it and help to establish multiplayer community, because there's so few people playing online... It's sad, because this game is even more fun online. Oh, well, maybe after some Steam sale...

I've a problem with this game.Visuals are great, art design as well. Moody graphics, sounds, eerie atmoshere - it all works very well. In the other hand, Limbo is short... and most of all - not even challenging. You'll need about 3-5h to beat it from start to the end, depending on you how easily you get frustrated. Limbo constantly pushes your poor character to.. die. In your first playthrough there no chance to predict what obstacle awaits you. Most of the times, you die... and with the new knowledge start from the nearest checkpoint. I guess it's not the way the platformer game should work... And believe me, most of the tasks are rather easy to perform, when you know how. In conclusion, Limbo is a perfectly designed game... but it's better to watch than to play. Surely it's more of an updated Vegas 1 than real sequel. Yes, there's new story, few new ideas, bugfixes... In general it is better than its predecessor. The same situation happend with Left 4 Dead, the second game is better than first, but still - it feels just like a big update, not a new game. What to think about it? If you're a fan of Vegas, you will probably buy it anyway, just to enjoy new missions and new storyline. If you're a classical R6 fan, wishing the series would come back to it's hardcore tactical roots... It's not happening folks. For the newcomers - Rainbow Six: Vegas is a new take on R6 series. It's more approachable, less tactical. In general, it's an action game with a bit of teamwork and strategy. You control special ops team-leader and you squad consists of other two members. It's and FPS game with cover system and very basic giving orders mechanics. It's quick, enjoyable and very replayable game. After you finish campaign (not more than 6h of gameplay) you can fight in multiplayer, co-op or my favorite - terrorist hunt mode. I always enjoyed tactical shooters from the Tom Clancy series. Rainbow Six got my attention in 1998, now I still play R6:Raven Shield and Vegas 2 (despite it's flaws). First Ghost Recon was one of the games I bought just after it's release, i really liked the idea of realistic combat in a much larger scale than Rainbow Six. Years had passed and I missed the new editions of Ghost Recon.. But now im correcting my mistakes, starting with the latest game in the series - Advanced Warfighter 2. Overall impressions after first hours of gameplay are rather positive. It still has this realistic feel - you can die pretty easy, you cant pretend Rambo or rush into action without using a bit of strategy. Teamwork - that's the word. Tapping Tab key will show you tactical map, there you can give orders, waypoints and control behaviour of your soldiers. You can also use middle mouse button in the FPS view, when there's need to correct some orders or apply new ones. It's very clear and you'll get a hang of it very quickly. You've got plenty of guns and attachments to choose from, including my favorite - ultra-powerful sniper rifle resembling famous Barett. Visually game is decent, some years has passed and graphics can appear as little dated... but it's still a good looking game. What about flaws? There's only one, but major - A.I. Your foes are just plain stupid and blind. Most of the time it's not a big deal, because you're outnumbered and even stupid soldiers become threat in bigger groups xD .. But what can you do, when you're own collegues from Ghost Team resemble the same stupidity? They constantly get lost or stuck - you need to watch them carefully all the time. I happens very often - You give orders, take your position, click the "execute plan" button and.... flanking manouvers turn to s*it. One of your Ghosts stopped after two steps. In the middle of open ground... It can really irritate you. They are elite soldiers, why should I babysit them? ... Overall Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 is a good game. Long Campaign, good mechanics, very good "feel" of a real battlefield - that's why we all love Tom Clancy series. It's also exciting and challenging, so you've got the full package here ;) Lousy A.I cuts down one point from the score, so there it is - 7/10. Very decent game.

Roguelike rpg ? Can this be enjoyable in 21st century ? It can and surely is. Example - Dungeons of Dredmor! Apart of real graphics instead of ASCII, this game is typical rouglike rpg with random generated levels. There's plenty of good humour too. Unfortunatly, graphics could be a little bit better. I know, it's indie production but... Well, we should be grateful there's graphics at all, developers seem to say. Game lacks story, but that's not a flaw - you dont need a story in a game like this. It's just about fun, exploring, leveling up and killing your enemies. Of course, there is the last, final boss in the last 10th level of dungeon (Mr.Dredmor, indeed)... and a couple of minor bad guys on the way. You would not be bored;) Another interesting thing - Dungeons of Dredmor features permadeath - long forgotten, now revoked! Of course you can choose to switch it off, if you value your sanity. Try losing your character after couple hours of gameplay... ;) But if you want to play as if it's still 1995, go ahead!:) Some gamers reported bugs and crashes with DoD. I guess it's all patched, because im playing without any problems. In conclusion - nice little game, but marked for a small group of players. Im after 9 hours of gameplay and i can only say - amazing tactical game! First minutes were pretty hard, you can easily get discouraged... Controls does not seem clear, but when you get hang of it - it becomes easy and intuitive. Gameplay is tactical driven, but you'll mostly find rock-paper-scissors mechanics here. In every mission you will take control of soldiers, in random generated scenery. There's always an objective, but nothing will surprise you - attack, defend, take hostage, rescue hostage.. and so on. In most situations you'll have limited turns to complete you task, so no messing around. Gameplay involves planning phase, when you give orders... then you can test your plan and finally - execute it. The other side is doing the same thing so you need to think ahead of your opponent. So where's the rock-paper-scissors mechanics? Your team operate in simple ways - soldier in cover always beats exposed unit, shotgun wins with everyone in close quarters, sniper always beats every unit in distance ( vice versa he gets killed in close quarters in a second) ... and so on and so on. You'll at least hour to get a grip of it and think about every possible situation and its outcome. Then you can really enjoy the game ! :) Single Player Campaign is about 50 (!!!) missions long... I guess im not far than 10 and it's getting seriously hard. Nevertheless, multiplayer is the most interesting feature in Frozen Synapse. Playing with live opponent is far more exciting. The mechanics allow you to participate in 5 or more matches in one time, you just conclude your turn and while waiting for other player - play another skirmish. Of course your can compete in leaderboards or even upload your replays on youtube... instantly. What else can i say? Buy it. It's great. Support indie developers. Support GOOD games.

But most of all - Orcs Must Die offers polished gameplay combining TPP and elements of tower-defence game. Sounds crazy and sure it is... But this game is like a chocolate cake - it's good if we taste it in 'not-so-big' portions. Gameplay can be boring, if we play too long in one sitting. Maybe co-op or multiplayer would change it? ... Ok, but why so serious? Game is fun, lots of orcs to kill, lots of traps, achievements, upgrades. 10 euros is a steal so you should probably buy it!

So called "shmups" were never my kind of entertainment. I heard good things about this game, but still i never liked bullet-hell shooters. So even when on sale, I kinda pushed myself to buy it. Mostly from curiosity. I was sure that it cant be so good, it's just hype. I was wrong. It is DAMN good. Jamestown is made perfectly. Visuals, music, story... Marvelous. You've got 4 ships to choose from. Every one requires different strategy, it's fun to master them and pick your favorite. Gameplay? Specially for less experienced players - it constantly pushes you to play higher difficulty levels. It's necessary if You want to unlock all the chapters. At first you can't beat a level on "Normal", after an hour you're making a perfect run on "Difficult". After a couple of hours it's time for "Legendary" and "Divine". I've got to say, I love the idea of such a "shmup school". It really makes you master the game perfectly. There's only 5 levels, but you need to re-play most of them on higher difficulties if you want to clear the game. That's not all - what about 20 challenges? Unlockable Judgement difficulty level? Unlockable Hardcore Mode? Gauntlet Mode? Lot's of fun! Hours of gameplay! Jamestown is my game of the year. Really, screw up all the high-budget productions. All you need is talented indie developers... Such as these responsible for Jamestown. Hail to them!

Dreamcast Collection - big words.. I think it's hard to call 4 games a collection. It could be "Dreamcast 4-pack" or something like that... Specially if You consider the fact that games are chosen in pretty random way. We've got Crazy Taxi - very decent title, with lots of arcade fun. It's still a great game, challenging and memorable, even if graphics are out-dated and game physics ...oh well, does not exist;) Next title - Space Channel: Part 2, entertaining music game... Seems pretty ankward and silly, but it's really a gem. Like Crazy Taxi, the passing time had no effect on this game. It's still pure fun. And that is the good part of this "collection". As much as i admire Mr.Hedgehog, Sonic Adventure DX is just mediocre at best. Port is pretty glitchy, game itself is filled with bugs. You cant even play in proper fullscreen. The last game is Sega Bass Fishing. Ive go no idea what to think about it. Offcourse it's not possible to play it with special fishing controller like on original Dreamcast console. So, eventually, the game loses it's "exotic" charm. You've got bored with it after an hour... Two nice games, two weak games. 9 euros on steam. Worth? Wait for discount.

I've turned into shmup fan after hours of fun with Jamestown... And it's all coming back to me! Three great bullet hell shoot'em ups - just a click away! Oh yeah, offcourse if you're ready to spare 9 euros on steam.. Believe me - it's a bargain. Totally worth it! Games are updated with better graphics and more enjoyable soundtracks.. And most important - bunch of steam achivements. Just one complain - pc port is glitchy, but games are patched frequently, so i shouldnt worry. Hell, Hitogata Happa is so freaking hard, I just cant believe it. Gotta love it ;)

Ridiculous price, great humour, hours of engaging gameplay - what else can you desire from a game? Oh, yes - I forgot about graphics. But thats only one thing that you wouldn't find here...Because its totally old-school rpg ... and that's a plus! Reminding me the times when imagination was more important than astonishing visuals. Thank God for indie developers.

To make things clear - Im a fanboy. Totally devoted to Warhammer 40k universum. Ive lost hours of my life on playing all games from Dawn of War series, another countless hours for w40k books. Yes, i never played the original tabletop game, but such things were never my kind of thing. It never stopped me from adoring the warhammer world and its unique feel. And what about the game? I'll make it short. If you're a wh40k fan... you'll love it. Space Marines are epic as always, fights are bloody, voice-acting is superb. Graphics are astonishing, game is also very optimised - you'll play it even on some older machines. Another thing is soundtrack - not so "heavy" as in Dawn of War, but also great. Orchestrated by Sascha Dikicyan and Cris Velasco... this first name will ring a bell - this guy is known also as Sonic Mayhem ( Quake OST, Borderlands, Mass Effect 2) ... What can i say? EPIC sounds. And gameplay? Blood and gore. All the memorable weapons are here. Bolters, chainswords, lascannons, assault jetpacks, power axes.. Against you - hordes of Orks. Legions of Chaos. Pure fun in killing all of them. Offcourse, there's not much else to do in this game - but slaying xenos and heretics is so orgasmic, you would not dare to be bored... That would be heresy;) So, generally - for fans of WH40k - it's a must-have. For everyone else? You can give it a try, maybe this will be your first step into the dark and grim world of Warhammer 40.000 ?

I hoped for a great game. I played the demo, it was pretty decent. But what about the full product? .. It's mediocre at best. Offcourse, it's arcade shooter fun. But it has so many annoying flaws. First of all - the story. It's totally dumb. You can skip the cutscenes as fast as the game loads and jump into action without knowing or caring about the story. It just does not matter, it's rubbish. Graphics are cool, right. But there's only one landscape to watch - cyberpunkish city. You'll get tired of it very soon. Guns are fine and the idea of modules/modifications is pretty cool. But you cant really use the full potential of that idea... the modules switch kinda slowly. All your hopes for a fast pacing shooter and using all your arsenal at the proper moment... it all ends, when you're stuck in a corner with enemies all around you, trying to change your gun from rocket launcher to shotgun... and ending in blowing up yourself up... And guns are not the only problem. Even your character seems slow, unable to avoid most of the attacks. Strafing, jumping - it does not matter. You'll end up getting shot/sliced/rammed... Comparing this game to glorious Painkiller is a bit off. That's not Painkiller. It's not trying to be. It has its good moments - believe me, killing waves of robots and finding a way to use environment against them ... is fun! But overall the game is good at pissing you off. And the game ends before it starts - 4h of gameplay? ... Developers promise to patch the game and some dlc are in the making. Maybe then i will try to replay the campaign... But for now? Just 6/10.
