Girls: Season 2

Girls is simply hard to love, but easy to laugh with. Lena Dunham does an amazing job with this show, which shows us the lives of twentysomethings in NYC through a shockingly truthful lens. Ignore the critics of Girls (of which I used to be one) and watch a few episodes. It's worth it.

I'd like to chalk up the awfulness of Do No Harm to gross negligence, but this show tries way too hard to have been a horrific accident. It does have a sort of "can't look away from a car crash"-y appeal to it, though.

Zero Hour is so atrocious in quality and acting that it makes me want to vomit. Anthony Edwards' acting is so wooden you could make a chair out of it. Think "National Treasure", only ten times worse.

Dear god please, let this show be a figment of my imagination. It's time to mourn the NBC of old, which created such gems as 30 Rock and Community. If this is the future of television, I want no part in watching it.

The polar opposite of its second season, American Horror Story: Murder House starts off weak and finishes incredibly strong. Jessica Lange and Connie Britton are the hilights of this freaky first season.

Laura Dern does an amazing job as Amy Jelicoe, a relatable and likeable lead of a cast full of misits. Enlightened is an amazing and endearing show written by the talented Mike White, who brings this story and the quirky characters to life and gives them distinct and nuanced voices.

American Horror Story: Asylum was a crazy and freaky ride, but a great plot line that became a swift denouement that couldn't really catch its feet after the midseason break.

Three seasons later, Archer's still got it. Sterling and the other lovable and zany agents of Isis return and are as funny as ever. Expect many, many cameos and homages (including a great "Bob's Burgers" nod).

Dark, crazy, and surprisingly predictable. Following (excuse the terrible pun) Williamson's history with "The Vampire Diaries" and "Dawson's Creek", it's surprising that "The Following" is such a dark, insane show.

It's good. Just not great. But it's enjoyable to watch and if you're willing to search through the litany of television cliches, it brings a couple new ideas to the table.

The new "cold case" format departs from the classic "Big Bad" from seasons 1-3, and it works incredibly well. Season 4 brings another great year of drama.

You'll probably be undecided with Season 7 until "Angels Take Manhattan", arguably the series' best episode to date. Don't fret about Jenna Louise-Coleman as the new companion, though. She's brilliant.

From what I can tell from the premiere, Season 5 of Fringe will be a nonstop action-packed adrenaline rush. With a shortened 13-episode order, the Fringe showrunners have promised this season will have no filler episodes, and I'm looking forward to what's to come.

(as of episode 5, "Gaslight") Alphas is back for season 2, and it's better than ever. With a new lead character Kat and a ton of great guest stars, Alphas is really delivering this season. The show has really taken a queue from the viewers and has made this season more personal and dark, and it's really come a long way since the pilot. Gary is still hilarious, but now Rachel, Nina and Dr. Rosen are really getting their time to shine. It'd be a shame to cancel such a great show (even better considering it's on SyFy) just based on ratings. Alphas is truly one of the most underrated shows on television.

Alphas is a great show. Yes, it has its problems, but you just have to sit back and enjoy it. It takes a couple episodes to gain footing but then it really shines. Gary is such a well written and acted character that this should probably be called the Gary Show.

The Walking Dead: Season 1

AMC's The Walking Dead is an adaptation of the comic series of the same name, about a group of survivors in the zombie apocalypse. Being a giant fan of the comics, I watched the show, and I actually didn't mind it for a couple episodes. But the farther the show goes on, the more pacing problems it gets and the more obnoxious my favorite characters would become, if they even showed up at all. Tyreese and Michonne are nowhere to be seen. Instead, we're given the generic redneck Daryl and the EXTREMELY stereotyped token black character T-Dog. Seriously. His name is T-Dog. The second season definitely drags on, even though it barely touches on any actual plot from the comics. They spend about 8 episodes trying to find Sophia, a girl who went missing and (Spoilers) is a zombie. The sad part is Sophia is alive and well in the comics, nothing bad actually happens to her. The same is to be said with Shane's death, which was much more emotional in the comics, considering Carl is the one who actually kills human Shane to save his father's life. The choice to instead have Rick stab Shane was a waste of good material. The more and more I watch this show, the more and more I find myself no longer caring about the characters. They do dumb things, and someone dies. And I don't care. They aren't the characters I love anymore. They're annoying whiny people. Eventually, you'll find yourself rooting for the zombies.
