I mistakenly thought this game couldn't be as bad as most people seem to think. Now that I have played it, I see it's even worse than user reviews have suggested. I got the the game for virtually nothing, and I still feel cheated. The story is awful. The history, usually a strong point in most Assassin's Creed games, is not good. The developer for this game decided to rewrite a lot of history instead of just weaving fiction into actual history. The game is an absolute chore to play. The controls are garbage and they seem to go out of their way to make things even worse by having you perform tasks that the control system is not capable of performing without extreme frustration. Whether you are on foot or on horseback you get stuck or hung up on just about anything, but the horseback riding through the forest in timed missions is a nightmare. The horse refuses to keep moving and there are obstacles blocking your path everywhere. If you like ridiculously bad stories, horrible game play, frustration, and boredom this game is a dream come true. This series is dead to me. I wish I had never ventured past the Ezio Auditore games. After playing those great games, this game is like a punch in the face.

This is the worst game I have ever encountered. From the minute you start the game it is nothing but problems. It's virtually unplayable. This game should never have been released on the PC, and people should have been given the option to get their money back. 73GB and the graphics are terrible, but MUCH more importantly, the combat and controls are a disgrace. Throw in a stupid and boring story and it blows my mind that some people actually praise this game.

Horace

I'm not a big fan of all of these perfect 10 scores on Metacritic. It really is ridiculous. A 10 score should be reserved for a really great game. However, this is the very imperfect review system that we have to work with, and I don't want to penalize a great game just because I want to be realistic, when it's clear that the overwhelming majority of reviewers are not. Horace is something special. It has done something very different within the platforming genre. It's telling that I like this game so much when platforming games are one of my least favorite types of games. As a whole, I also do not like Indie games very much. There's just too much garbage being pumped out, and it has become trendy to call terrible Indie games "amazing", and refer to their crude graphics as "gorgeous pixel art.". That having been said, Horace is definitely an exception, so I will break my rule about 10 scores to give it the credit it deserves. For an indie game that has low tech graphics, Horace does it really well. The graphics are colorful, varied, and overall, are probably more deserving of the description "gorgeous pixel art" than any other "pixel art" game that I can think of. My only grievance with the graphics is that when you are in close up scenes the graphics are so crude they almost hurt your eyes. This applies to all games with crude graphics, not just Horace. Unlike most other games with this type of graphics, when you're not close up, which, thankfully, is most of the time, the graphics are charming, and also unlike most games of this type, the graphics vary so that you really can't wait to see what the next set of screens will look like. The way Horace intertwines story and cut scenes in between the platforming levels, and even within the levels, is refreshing to say the least, and is very well done. It's virtually assured that what Horace has done in this genre will be copied in future platforming games, and may well help platforming games increase in popularity. The controls are not part of what makes Horace special. Fortunately, they are good enough that they don't really hurt the game. In more traditional platforming games that are so dependent on outstanding controls, it would be much more of a factor. This game isn't nonstop movement like most platformers. It's more slow paced and creative which I really like. When I first started playing the game in the instructional levels I was not too impressed with the controls. Fortunately, this is an Indie game that let's you remap the control configuration. If I had not been able to do so that might have killed the game for me before I even got started. So definitely wait until past the very beginning before forming an opinion. In addition to the "gorgeous pixel art", the music is great, and fits the game perfectly. It's not only good music but is constantly changing and altering the mood, which is a huge plus. Music is another aspect of Indie games that I think is very overrated. People just love to rave about music that doesn't seem to be that impressive at all. In this game it really is great. Finally, this game has so many fun references, and tips of the hat to other games. I think I will play again just to see if I can recognize all of them because there are a lot of them, and they sometimes pass very quickly. Maybe I'm wrong, but this game does not seem to be getting the recognition and accolades that it deserves. I hope this has been a successful venture for the publisher and or developer because it would be bad for gaming **** ( another overused word!) **** like this wasn't successful. Hopefully it will generate more buzz now that it is free on Epic Games. Sadly, I would never have known about it, let alone bought the game, if I had not looked at it as a free game choice on Epic Games.

Gee what a great "game". Whatever this is, game or interactive movie, it is disgusting. I wish I could give it a negative score. It deserves one. Detroit: Become Human is so offensive in so many ways. I cannot fathom the high score by users. I guess they're all part of the everyone is a victim crowd. No doubt they feel that what happens to the androids is what is happening to them too. Apparently the developer thought that since everyone is so in the love with the idea that almost everyone and everything is racist that they could cash in on it by making a game or interactive movie about the desperate and unjust plight of future androids. They basically equate it with past racism and slavery. Personally, I say bring on the androids, but not the ones in this game, which are ridiculous and will never happen. Then again, considering they will be made and programmed by humans, maybe androids aren't a good idea. Anyway, if you want to watch a lot of moaning, screaming and preaching about injustice, save yourself some money and just turn on the news or go on social media.

These reviews are very strange. Season 2 is clearly quite inferior to Season 1. Yet most of the reviews here seem to think there is little difference. I know opinions on games are subjective but in this case I think some objectivity is possible. Season 1 works because **** atmosphere that is in large part created by the excellent music. The story was also intriguing. Season 2 fails miserably in all of these areas. It's like the developer was inspired and made Season 1, but then didn't really have any ideas for the continuation but just made the game just to continue. Season 2 quickly becomes boring. The music is nowhere near as good as in the first season, and I can see how it would be hard to match in this followup. The atmosphere is gone and it seems like the developer decided that since they couldn't recreate the music and atmosphere of the first game, they would just make it an ordinary puzzle game. Even worse, the puzzles are idiotic and annoying. I saw somewhere that people were inquiring about a possible season 3, and that the developer responded with something like: "We might in the future, but right now we want to do something else." It came across as if they were saying they were bored with that and out of ideas right now. Well, I can tell you that they must have been bored with the game and out of ideas when they did season 2, because that is definitely the impression I got while playing the game.

This game really does deserve a zero. There are so many problems it boggles the mind. I have never been more certain that a game has been given false positive reviews than I am with The Division. Everything negative you are reading in the reviews is true. If you have ever wondered why it is a bad thing to have to always be connected while playing a game, then look no further than this game as a perfect example. You get disconnected, or can't connect in the first place, for so many reasons. It's lots of fun being almost finished with a brutally hard mission and then being disconnected. It's also a great time when your profile needs to be rebuilt and you lose hours of progress or have to completely start over again. The AI in this game is the worst I have ever seen. I understand that AI in a game usually involves some kind of cheating to make sure it is not too easy, but this AI has no intelligence at all and consists of nothing more than flat out cheating. Your enemies can shoot you before they see you. They can shoot you through barriers, including walls. They can shoot you from incredible distance no matter what weapon they have. Their standard weapons can shoot you from further away than any sniper rifle you may have. Their weapons will also kill you in the blink of an eye. So much so that you may not even have a second to take cover before your dead. Then they will often just walk or run right up to you and kill you while your blasting them in the face the whole time. Their accuracy is incredible. They can face away from you and still hit you while firing their gun. Apparently the AI is set up so they don't have an accuracy rating, it's just an automatic hit. You, on the other hand, have to put with things like laptops and flimsy barriers completely blocking your fire while they fire right through them. It's not just enemy AI that is awful, the NPCs are terrible. The voices are disconnected from the people who are supposedly speaking. They face away from you and talk to walls when they are supposed to be addressing you. You see the same couple of interactions wherever you travel. It's so stupid they would have been better off just leaving the city empty. The civilians just casually walk right into your firefights. The soldiers who sometimes "assist" you literally never hit anything and walk casually among the enemies who have no interest in hurting them even though they are supposedly firing at them. They will, however, do as much as possible to get in your way. The mission design is very poor and repetitive. The fact that you have to grind so much makes that aspect even more unpleasant. Everyone talks about all of the "loot", but what is the point? Most of the items are worthless and any upgrades are immediately nullified by the enemy AI being upgraded. Getting an "upgrade" will often make things more difficult for you as the enemies more than offset any new weapons or armor. I wouldn't touch "Tom Clancy's The Division 2" with a ten foot pole. Gamers buying garbage like this make me sad, and are ruining gaming.

If you like this game, and games like this, I strongly suggest you get a Commodore 64 because the games are on approximately the same level technically, but the overall quality of Commodore 64 games is better. Seriously, when is this barrage of amateur games that are often not even games going to stop? Are we going backwards now? You have to use w,a,s,d keys to move around in this walking tour. You can't even use the mouse accept to click on the endless conversation bubbles. Hey, here's a cool idea, let's go back to an MS-DOS interface, wouldn't that be trendy and cool? Everything about this game makes it clear that the developer's entire focus was on how they could make a "game" with as little effort as possible, and as quickly as possible. The game is very short and yet still spends a lot of time dragging things out to try and convince you that it really is a game, and not a comic strip. It seems like one person could have made this game in a short period of time. If this trend keeps up no one is going to want to make real games anymore. Why bother when you can quickly crank out amateur garbage by the truckload and make just as much money by releasing "indie" games in much bigger quantities. If you like this game, check out Zork. It's just walking around and text, similar to this this game without the childish graphics, but definitely better entertainment with better writing.

I was hoping for a game, but instead I got politics. It's really hard to enjoy a game when you feel like the developer is just using their game as a vehicle to let you know how they view the US and it's people. Sadly, there are a lot more problems than just the politics. The characters themselves, the character models, dialog, and story are terrible. My favorite person in the game was Sigrun Engel. What does that say about the other characters in the game, including BJ? The actual game play is good, but it's almost impossible to enjoy the game considering all of the other flaws. It's hard to believe this game was made by the same developer that made the last game. I really liked that game. Now it seems like even that game is tarnished. It makes me wonder if some of the programmers from Mass Effect Andromeda got hired by Machine Games.

This is an unusual game. You really need to be patient and gain an understanding of the game's limitations, and play in a way that is unlike most games. Borderlands drove me crazy enough to quit at one point, but then after seeing some responses to my complaints (and the same complaints made by many others), I decided to try it again and heed the advice of others who pointed out that, while the game did not make it clear at all, you cannot get ahead of yourself in this game or it can be brutal. You are free to advance quickly into certain areas of the game from the start, but you will be punished if you are not at a certain level with the right weapons. As I progressed through Borderlands and better understood how to play the game, I grew to like it more and more, and by the time I was done I really liked the game. However, the game certainly is not without it's flaws. The re-spawning AI can be really annoying and detract from your immersion into the game. While there are supposed to be gazillions of weapon combinations in the game, there's really not that many that are actually different, other than in name and appearance. The graphics take some getting used to, but much like the game itself, grow on you. As I understand it, this game has an excellent multi-player, and a lot of people base their high score of the game heavily on that aspect of the game. My review is for the single player alone because I have not played the multi-player component.

I really have to wonder about these reviews. This game, if you can call it that, fails on so many levels. The dialogue and pretentious politically correct nonsense makes it hard to keep playing even after only a few minutes of game play. Add to this the absurdity of the story from the opening minutes of the game, and I found myself constantly asking myself who could like this game? The dialogue literally made me cringe, and based on how quickly and thoroughly the game hits you with so many political messages, the mindset and political leanings of the developer become crystal clear. In just a few minutes you get an anti-gun message, an anti-bullying message (when will the bullying of minorities by white people stop?), a rich people are bad and can do whatever they want message, a men are sexist message, a climate change message, and of course, virtually all of the bad people are white. There is mention of a Vortex Club that is, apparently, bad, and filled with people who think they are better than everyone else. Your character points out a black student who is a member of this club, and for just a moment, I thought they might actually have a minority student who is being portrayed as something other than good or a victim, but just as soon as Max (the avatar) points out this student, she qualifies him as an exception. Whew! That would have been racist! And of course we can't forget about the Native Americans. You just have to mention them. Even if there is no reason too. (Just don't mention the native Indians of Mexico who were wiped out by the Spanish.) All of this in just the opening minutes of the game. It's amazing that no one else mentions this in any reviews. All of that nonsense aside, the game interface and pacing are awful. The characters are terrible. The graphics are lousy. However, if you like clicking on objects and hearing things like: "This is a camera, it is really cool.", and "This is a plasma TV that is really awesome!", or "They must have really spent bank on these computers!', then maybe this game is for you. It's also very "clever" how they are able to stretch out the game to avoid having too much actual content. After an initial boring sequence, the game actually makes you repeat the same sequence listening to the same painful dialogue again. What's not to like, right? This review is based on the first episode only. I'm sorry, but I couldn't bear going on any further.

The story and drama are clearly the big draw in this game. It undoubtedly accounts for the overwhelming majority of perfect and near perfect scores. I can understand scores being that high for this aspect of the game, but the problem with this is that it makes a mockery of any kind of integrity in rating the game when this is the basis for your overall score of the game as a whole. This game is NOT perfect, and it is NOT near perfect. So why are the scores? The actual game play and combat are ordinary at best. This is a significant part of the game, but apparently little or no deductions are made for this. The mediocre to average combat and game play means the game also has little to no replay value. I think most people would also agree that there are significant lulls in this game where things can get a little boring or tedious. Fortunately, the beginning and ending are great, and they are the two most important areas to get right if you are unable to maintain a high level throughout the whole game. So I guess a lot of people are willing to overlook some of the parts in between. Another lesser criticism would be that the game is a little too dreary even for a game with that type of subject matter. Level design is also far from perfect. What happens when another game comes along and equals the drama and story of "The Last of Us", but also has great combat and game play? Does it get a score of 120 out of a hundred, or a 12 out of 10? It is a good game and deserves a good overall score, but a score in the mid to high eighties is a very good score and this game really should not be any higher than that. If you come to this game after seeing all of these extremely high scores and listening to all of the hype, you may be especially disappointed. My actual score would be an 8.5 but this system does not allow for that so I gave it an 8.

Are you guys all part of the development team for this game? How you could have actually played this game and given these positive reviews I don't know. Even with my having loved the original game and really wanting to like this game, I could not. There was more to dislike but the biggest problem with this game by far is the one thing that had to be right for the game not to be ruined and kind of pointless. What do you do in this game more than anything else from the beginning of the game to the end? Jumping. The controls are awful and the jumping is the worst! This is unforgivable. Both the accuracy and the timing of the jumping are off. Another problem is the voice over. When you are listening to the voice over you will think you are playing a game for preschoolers. Mickey should throw apples? Really? It's like playing a "Doom" remake and they add a voice over that says you should fire your gun and open doors. If only the narrator had some advice on how to improve the controls. With this much wrong with the game there's not much point in critiquing anything else. Do yourself a favor and play the demo before buying.

The review score for this game is an embarrassment and testament to what is happening to video gaming. The 10's given to this game by "professional" reviewers are clearly not just about the quality of the game. The reviewers have clearly been influenced by other factors. Gaming review scores in general have clearly become favors to the game developers, and this is an example of that taken to extremes. Now, having said that, I am not saying this is a bad game. In fact, it is actually a very good game, but to call it perfect or near perfect is absurd. It's also very odd that a lot of "professional" reviewers are indicating that they are scoring the game higher because it is newer and has better graphics, etc. Since when did we start doing this? If this is how we are going to look at games then all of the new games are all better than older games. I guess "Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare" is way better than the original "Alone in the Dark" because it is so much newer and has graphics that are far more advanced. No, that can't be right because "Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare" was almost universally declared a piece of garbage, while "Alone in the Dark" is frequently listed as one of the best games of all time. (It's worth mentioning that the game developer for the newer game threatened reviewers with a lawsuit over their reviews of the game when it came out.) Getting back to GTA IV, there are far too many flaws for it to be considered near perfect. This one is obviously subjective to some extent, but the music and radio is very disappointing when compared with previous versions. I'll allow this to not even count since it is so subjective, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. I quickly turned off the radio and left it off. I never did that in any of the previous versions. Still, this is one of the great features of the GTA series that makes it standout from other games that do not even have this feature so I won't count this. This may also be subjective to some extent, but the story and characters are boring with a capital B. The characters look and sound boring. We went from actors like Ray Liotta as the main character in "GTA: Vice City" to the crap in GTA IV? I'm curious if anyone out there cares about Nikko and his cousin at all. Even the other hoods that give you your jobs are boring. While watching and listening to the video in the game for the first time I wanted to just skip over it. For me, the music, story, and characters alone make this game far less entertaining than all previous versions of the GTA series. This version of GTA is also too serious. I always thought some of the negative things (violence, sex, etc.) said about the GTA series in the media were a bit ridiculous because it was hard to see how anyone could take the games that seriously, but with this version I can see their point a little, (Just a little!) because it's too serious. One last thing, the game seems much less creative in it's content than previous iterations. I am not going to go over the good or great facets of this game because that has been done to death. I just wanted to post a review to comment on how overrated the game is, even though it is still an excellent game.
