Castle Rock (2018): Season 12
Sep 25, 2018
Two stars for **** me in the first few episodes and then .... nothing but atmosphere and confusion. I stuck it out until episode 7 even though by then I had no idea what, if anything was going on. I tried skipping to the end and just more of the same going on. I stuck with because the reviews were so good + Stephen King. It was so not worth it.

Utopia (2014): Season 10

The sad thing is that this show *might* have had some potential if they had actually attempted to cast it for it's purported purpose "to create an ideal social structure." I don't think most of these contestants have ever given this a moments thought-- even after being cast for this show. They all behave as if they are vying to be the most obnoxious cast member on the dumbest reality show. I've only watched it because i know one of them. Otherwise I wouldn't have watched more than 5 minutes of the first episode. A toothless hillbilly? Really? A preacher there to convert people? Really? Unstable personalities with trigger reactions? -- These people were cast for one reason only, to create the basest kind of drama. What a colossal waste of money and time.

Parade's End: Season 18

Beautiful, complex and engaging. Unlike another reviewer, I was captivated until the WWII scenes hit, where I felt like the action was slowed way down and I just wanted to get back to the "real story" of the relationships of the central characters. Overall, a great show though, perfectly cast, smart and passionate.

A Gifted Man : Season 15

Maybe this should have been called Asperger Man. In a nutshell: wife had the heart of gold and empathy role, hubby honed brilliance. He is so brilliant that other doctors become fumblingly incompetent in his presence. When you see him in action at the free clinic, the other doctors don't seem to be able to handle basic first aid or triage. How did they ever function without him? The episode I just watched (my last!), he finally found a supermodel/doctor with a heart of gold to run the clinic (thank God! what if someone ugly or over 30 had come along?) So now viewers can watch as Asperger dude takes 2 or 3 seasons before someone tells him that new doc is hot and he should go for it. She of course, will pine away in that cute, sassy, rescueing lives kind of way these show are so fond of. It will be painful viewing, I'm sure.

Unforgettable: Season 14

I like Poppy Montgomery so I gave this show a chance -- and I like seeing Dylan Walsh in a non creepy role again. But it's your oh so standard police procedural in which Poppy comes to work in tank top and levis looking like she was on the way to the grocery store, but quickly solves baffling cases with her extraordinary (and of course secret) talent while all the other cops are muttering "why does *she* get to come to work dressed that way, and when the hell did she jump all normal channels for hiring? Fortunately Dylan is married to a really hot babe, so he gets to work with one and sleep with a different one every day, so life is good. Kind of a Lifetime series.
