Not worth it at that price, but it's still a fun way to pass time, especially if you have kids.

The Room VR: A Dark Matter10
Oct 11, 2021
A slight minus compared to the latest non-VR entry would be that it doesn't have numerous endings. Still, it's a fantastic experience - atmospheric, makes good use of VR controls, and brainwrecking. Highly recommended.

The Climb4

Not worth it. I wanted to like the gameplay, but even with 3D controllers, it's just not an enjoyable experience. Constantly glitching inside a mountain, sharp difficulty spikes, and graphics that have been surpassed already don't make for a good contemporary game.

May be good for what it is, but definitely not worth it full-price. Wait for a deep sale.

I Expect You To Die4

I can't recommend this experience. It has a unique idea, and to some degree - does it very well in practice, but largely it is a frustrating game with passable controls and game loop.

Half-Life: Alyx10
Oct 11, 2021
I was extremely sceptical about VR generally and about how great Half-Life as a franchise is, not to mention the divine status that Alyx earned. I bought a Quest 2, I bought this game, and now I believe 110% in this technology and medium. Starting with the story, I played all Half-Life games for the first time, for a month, before diving in this part. I was constantly amazed by how interesting and deep the lore went with its universe, and Alyx makes no exception to this aspect - characters are believable, locations have atmosphere, depth and realism to them, and how it all connects to the previous entries is done masterfully. In the graphics department, the game deserves a score higher than a 10. Although it has a more "painty" style, like Dishonored for example, it retains the visual fidelity and feel of Half-Life, and I was constantly amazed by the presented vistas. Physics are fantastic, animations are truly life-like, you'll forget about reality with this game. In the sound department, it's even better. Music is memorable and adds a punch to every situation, dialogue is good, sound design is better than ever, from the zombies' cries in a dark tunnel, to a headcrab's hissing, to the Combine soldiers speaking to you and among themselves. And of course, the gameplay - the gameplay is like nothing you've played before and nothing like you'll play anytime soon. Puzzles and hidden stuff aplenty, combat and gun mechanics that will get you addicted and searching for them in any other game, great variety of levels and mechanics. It's simply a must buy, a must play, and it's the reason I've registered on Metacritic to write a review for it. And words can't explain how good this experience is.

DiRT Rally9
Oct 11, 2021
Played it in VR. It's a cool experience, and it would be even more fun for you if you are into rallies, racing and cars generally. I'm not, but that shouldn't hurt the score. It's also recommended for another reason - it doesn't have the always-online requirement that Dirt Rally 2.0, a mechanically better Dirt game than this one, has.

Apollo 11 VR HD5
Oct 11, 2021
Cool concept, but in practice it isn't much. Graphics don't stand out even in this HD version, and fun factor depends largely on your device. Controls are broken on Quest 2 and there is no indication of the devs fixing it and future-proofing it. I give it a 5 simply because it's a good idea - learning history while playing history.

Completely broken on Quest 2 and no indication of Valve bugfixing it. There are much better first-steps experiences than this.

Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs7

It's okay. Good graphics, fun destruction, but not much else. It could just as easily be played in flatscreen and it would make no difference. Can be completed in a day. Buy on sale.

Good for what it is. If you have a couple of games tried out in VR already, give this one a go as well. It's comfortable(unless you do some extreme maneuvers with the car), it looks great from a style perspective, and it's also a relaxing experience to some degree.
