Soul Sacrifice Delta9
Jan 12, 2017
This game is a nice little hidden gem. I can really respect this game. The Vita is known now for three things: Hyperdimension Memetunia (I love Nep mind you.) Animoo games (I like anime games, it's most of what I review, I'm a weeb. ;) ) Monster Hunter Clones. Soul Sacrifice Delta is the third in this category. Does it hold up to Freedom Wars, Toukiden, and most importantly God Eater? What about Monster Hunter? Well, children, I'll tell you. Soul Sacrifice impressed me almost instantly with it's world, it's dark and bleak and depressing. Monsters are corrupted fairy tales and the worlds are equally mangled, from Repunzel's hair filled village to the Mirror eyed Snow White, fairy tales have never looked darker to me. The weapons in this game are magic, you attack using "offerings" which you only have so much of, so missions are handled in strategic fashion and cannot be rushed or you will be killed. The game has some genuinely rough fights, but I enjoyed the game quite a bit regardless. Soundtrack: Meh. Graphics: "Alright" It doesn't look good but it isn't offensive either. Story: This is where this game shines, this world is screwed, utterly screwed, and you play as the cause of it. Going through a journal made by you to see where things went wrong, this story has quite a lot of intrigue. I could say more but I do want you to experience this for yourself, though if this isn't your thing, go to God Eater 2 Rage Burst on PS4, that'll serve you better if this isn't your cup of tea. Or just don't buy either, who am I to judge.

The definition, the very definition of the worst game I've ever played. I'm not gonna be sarcastic this game is so ungodly bad and yet so fascinating in it's awfulness. This game has boobs, oh yes it has boobs. On the ugliest women and character models I've ever seen. The real women have more plastic in them than Nicki Minaj and the in-game models look like what would happen if you took a PS1 model wholesale and made it in high def without changing anything on it's textures. This game is so immature and ugly... Use an emulator from Emuparadise and try it yourself on Gamecube using Dolphin. Get some friends and prepare to be more flaccid than a wet hot dog. Or maybe plastics your thing, we won't judge you... you Troglidy-

It's uh... it's okay now. Call me fanboy, the originals will always be better in my favor and it isn't just nostalgia blinding me, those games hold up quite well (at least on PC). This game is still has that.. EA smell to it, you know the smell. Microtransactions may not be here but Overpriced DLC and **** design leads this game into a mediocre and frustrating hole, I gave this game a chance and all it became was something for my friends and I to crack jokes at the expense of. Well, at least it's the prettiest game I've laid my eyes on in a very long time. It got a little better from where it was but this game is now just okay, nothing more, nothing less.

GOD DAMMIT NAMCO BANDAI WHAT THE HELL YOU NUKED MY FAVWITE FWANCHISE!!!! Okay not really. Soulcalibur has been with me since I was little, starting with the second game in the series, this game... kinda hurt me. I want to love this game, I really do but I just... can't. The biggest flaw? They got rid of too many characters that were fun and put in either uninteresting characters or oh I dunno... three charades. For those of you unaware, a "Charade" is a character from Soulcalibur 2, whom of which could basically use any fighting style in the game, he was kind of like a stylized random button. incarnations of this style have persisted since him, with III's Olcadan, and IV's... uh... oh. So in retaliation for IV not having a charade they put not one, not two, but three of them. Sword Master, Elysium, and Kilik... freakin Kilik?! Why? He had an established style! These three might not seem like a problem but here's who we lost as a result of these three nerds: Talim Zaslemel Kilik Yun Seong Necrid (Hey a guy can hope.) Song Mina Cassandra Abyss Inferno Sophitia Okay, "it's for the story" and I'll stop you right there. This game's story is bad. It has no right to exist, it really doesn't. It follows Sophitia's kids and well... Pyrah is cool, Patrokolos is just Luke Skywalker, and Elysium can die in a fire. I want Talim and Zaslemel back, besides the latter was immortal! "Ten years in the future" shut up that guy saw the end of HUMANITY! We want our overpowered scythe guy!! Not three Charades! Bring the original back, at least he had some character to him. The fighting feels too fast and obnoxious this time around, with fights devolving into slapping matches rather than strategic fights since every fight is force locked at 60 seconds, and can be over in 20. They made characters like Astroth a joke while Nightmare kills everything in sight. The music is bland, I personally liked the other games for that aspect. The graphics are beautiful and the character creator is fun, but otherwise I feel burned by this game. I really do,

Gonna piss a lot of people now aren't I? I actually liked this awful, dull, drab game a bit. Well let's do this in true fashion everyone: Story: It ****. Shoot it in the face with a Super Shotgun. Gameplay: It's admittedly kinda nice... if you can mine for hours and roleplay a bit, otherwise it's drab and kinda meh. It's an okay game but it's not worthy of a 60$ price tag, I got it for 20$ and I still feel like Star Wars Battlefront EA gave more content than this at launch. Graphics: Kinda cool but the monsters are stupid looking, like something Nickelodeon would make. But hey some of the ships are kinda cool... I guess. Music: The music has some effort, some tracks are good and others are things you'll turn the volume down because of. This game tries to have a heavy soundtrack but it just falls flat when a musical flourish hits in the middle of space, like "Whoa those are some heavy metal... rocks... **** Characters: This is where a space game has to get it right, the alien species and surprise! They ****! The aliens are generic and uninteresting or just plain ugly, nothing noteworthy here. The one redeeming factor? These guys are hellbent on polishing this game and making it better, I hope in a year it'll be what we all were promised, a game worthy of praise and love, but as it stands, this game is Meh at best and Godzilla PS4 at worst.

Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair8
Jan 12, 2017
This game isn't a ten, everyone, calm down please. Earth Defense force games are something I enjoy greatly and seeing a game in 60 fps after that wickedly 12 fps PS3 counterpart, I was stoked. I really want to like this game but.. it's such a chore and being a game critic and a college student, this game is too much of a time sink to get anything awesome. If you have a group of friends who can ignore story and logic and just shoot giant grey and red ants for like... 80 hours (I've poured 220 hours into the PS3 version), you'll like this game, I swear. But if that isn't your thing, this isn't your game.

Oh my god I love me some Godzilla, I've played all the fighting games.. but **** this game and burn it with fire my friends. This game is an unbalanced incoherent mess, Hedorah slaughters everyone but Biollante who just barrels through everyone and they broke Destroyah... how do you do that? How do you break the best monster to be the worst monster I've seen. No wait, Rodan. L1+R1+Triangle wins every damn time. This game is just as broken as everyone says, I am NOT on a bandwagon here, it's seriously that bad.

Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization8

I've played every SAO game that I know of to be released here in America. Is this game worth your time? Is it good for veterans? What about fans? What about the newcomers? Stay for awhile, I'll be the one to answer those questions best I can. Keep in mind that these views are that of someone who has played through the good and bad of every game and beaten every last one I can get my hands on, I can handle these games better than most because I am easily entertained, but you are reading my view on the game so keep that in mind please. Is it for everyone? Okay so I know that SAO is a touchy subject and I'm quite convinced a lot of hate will come to it for being SAO because that's people right? This game is most definitely for fans, if you hate the series then you've got no reason to play this. If you have a passing interest I recommend it though. The Gameplay: Okay I'm starting here because this game could piss a few veterans off. This new combat, rocks. It's the best in the series so far, I find myself actually wanting to fight for once rather than run past everyone this time around and it feels like it would be how the real thing would control. This game has a lot of things to do in town and in the battle zones, which is commendable after the lacking quality of Lost Song. The new dating system is better now so you can finally date Yui, you freak. Or Sinon, because Asuna is dumb. The new skills system is more entertaining as skills can be fired off repeatedly and are gained at a nice and fair rate, once again far better than Lost Song's skills. Graphics: The new monster models are amazing, hands down they are amazing, the bosses in particular are ginormous and awe inspiring, you want to tear down these beasts. As for the character models, you don't really get to have that massive Warhammer 40K armor but the weapons get insane looking. As for animation quality, it's uh... well better than Lost Song. Soundtrack: Forgettable. It works in-game but I'll be damned if I could hum a single track out of context. At least the sword clangs and enemy death noises are satisfying. Warning section: I got the best weapons early game by pure chance, your enjoyment of this game can come down to if you get the Riot Sword and Relfector shield early on or if you get something else. Those two weapons have made the game kind of easy for me, as it is a simple matter of "Oh look, an enemy... DEAD" now. So uh.. if you want to make it hard on yourself, if you get these weapons throw them away like instantaneously. Keeping a level head during this review, Hollow Realization has a lot to offer fans and potential fans, but if you hate the series you aren't going to be convinced, save your money and buy God Eater 2 Rage Burst, otherwise, have at this game, you may like it.

God Eater 2: Rage Burst8
Jan 12, 2017
I am a veteran to this franchise, I've been in with it since Gods Eater Burst, then God Eater Resurrection, and now this. Is this game on par with the legacy God Eater has built for itself? Is it good for beginners? I hope to answer all that in this objective look at the game... Free of the hate I've seen from other user reviews. This game is beginner friendly.. at first: You are put through a mandatory tutorial, no problem it teaches enough and the early missions are simple enough, until your first Psion, new monsters introduced in this game. This psion fights like a late game God Eater Burst monster and will destroy you if you come unprepared or are cocky, it summons more monsters on top of itself and they are all ungodly aggressive, a rite of passage maybe but that is NOT how you introduce new players. The Story: It starts too slow for my liking but once you get past the initial parts the story goes into full steam and the characters you'll initially despise will become your friends in battle, I can commend a story in a Monster Hunter clone for actually you know... being a damn story. The Soundtrack: Oh yes in true fashion the soundtrack makes you want to slay Gods... but. It's loud and drowns the voice acting (which I'll complain about in a bit), and the audio mixer needs to be slapped and then fired for how poor a job this is. It's Sonic Adventure 2 levels of "WHAT??" at times but I digress. The music will have you definitely in the mood to kill monsters and it can match the beasts you'll be slaying quite nicely. The Voice Acting: Oh God, it's all over the damn place, some characters are fine while others are "SHUT THE HELL UP ROMEO!!". Probably the lowest part of the game, also they mysteriously took out the voices for Operators which can utterly screw you if you can't read and fight so be wary of that. The gameplay: No slowdown, satisfying feedback, and a bevy of weapons will keep you eating gods far longer than you would expect. The new Blood Arts are awesome and can turn battles on their head entirely, not an exaggeration. Conclusion: This game is worthy to the name of God Eater despite it's flaws, I found the opening tutorials to be a little frustrating but I'm a veteran and not much has changed control wise. The game runs great and has a lot to offer, it's certainly not a bad game that's for sure, just a slow starting one. If you need a little bit of high energy anime monster killing in your life, and you have a PS4 and not a 3DS, pick this up, it'll be well worth your time.
