It is perhaps the best opening in history. The chaos unfolding outside—the explosions, the screams, and the panic of people gathering in a desperate bid to escape—captivated me with an incredible set-piece sequence. That is exactly the kind of panic I would feel in an apocalyptic scenario, in a world teeming with the infected. Controlling Joel amidst that chaos made even me feel tense. The incredible pacing established right at the start, combined with tension that mounts by the second, could make this game a legend in the industry; however, the relationship development—specifically the sudden leap that occurs just three or four hours into the journey with Ellie—doesn't quite work. While the game's overall pacing is solid, these somewhat unrealistic developments mean the pacing and evolution of the relationships aren't handled quite as well. I didn't find the story in *The Last of Us* to be extraordinary; it’s a standard apocalyptic scenario. Nor did I find the storytelling particularly immersive; it’s a classic tale of main characters setting out on an adventure or journey. What truly impressed me about the game were the combat encounters—which never felt tedious despite the linear structure—the unique, thought-provoking nature of the fights, the AI, the music, the atmosphere, and the Winter chapter.

A stale *Uncharted* experience featuring well-written dialogue and engaging characters, but marred by uninspired platforming, a forgettable and poorly written villain, a jarringly experimental shift in tone at the end, monotonous combat, and repetitive level design.

The opening section might leave you sweating with a sense of desperation. The idea of fleeing from a maniac wielding a shovel was appealing, but the game began to dig its own grave the moment I started encountering the creatures known as the "Molded" repeatedly. Uninspired insect enemies that rarely felt like a genuine threat—combined with becoming heavily armed by the end of the first half and essentially conquering the game—may have killed the experience. The second half turned into a standard FPS... Perhaps I had built up too much anticipation because of Jack Baker, and that was a mistake.

It certainly features extraordinary scenes; however, the experience was marred by sidelined supporting characters, a repetitive "advance-and-destroy" loop towards the end, and an experimental tone that emerged abruptly in the second half.
