Hegemony: Philip of Macedon7
Jan 7, 2012
I am reading some 10 out of 10 reviews here.. Honestly- this game is ok but don't expect too much. Personally- I would give a game like Medieval Total War 2 a 9 out of 10 not this one! To put some perspective on things! However, if you can pick this up for a good price I recommend it. Here are some of my opinions on it pros and cons: On the down side: This game doesn't have the graphics or depth of total war. And it can become a bit of a repetitive grind as your territory is subject to constant incursions. I found having to constantly run my main army up and down the map a bit **** and too much like hard work to be that enjoyable. The missions can be done in any order but simply boil down to conquering everything. Plus side: In the campaign's favour it does keep you on your toes. It is very rare that you can simply sit back and gloat at your power. There are always enemies poking into your lands to look for weak spots. Your units level up and you can attach generals to units. You can enslave your enemies when they surrender or execute them. Keeping your armies and cities supplied with food from farms is very important in this game. This is a bit more realistic than many other games of its type. The story of Philip is well told with artistic cutscenes.

I have finally got around to playing this game and completing the original which I started 11 years ago! Having played FPS that were released in 2009 and 2010 I am amazed with Halflife 2- the graphics are still great and the level design is spectacular. I enjoyed the zombie level so much that I just brought the left for dead games for 4 euros from steam. All the levels have their own very distinct character but somehow you move from one to the next seamlessly. The campaign has so much variety- you could be driving along the open coast next to the sea in one (with the sound of the sea in your ears if you get a quiet moment) or feeling oppressed and claustrophobic as the evil combine guard infiltrate the apartment blocks you're hiding in. Great game- still have not found any FPS since 2004 that surpasses it.

This game is great. It's addictive as hell if you one vs one ladder and a whole bucket load of amazing custom games too. So much content- like 100 games in one. Hide and seek style games or Starbattles in space with massive space ships. Plus you get a satisfying campaign. Worth the money it is. It's a blizzard game and they never dissapoint. But they lose two points for lack of clan support and LAN options.
