RE9 is, without a doubt, one of the best gaming experiences of the year. It is a construct of what Capcom has done best, even when it went wrong by pushing the series too far toward action and sheer goofiness. Here, everything seems to fall into place: the gameplay and the cutscenes never allow the player, while experiencing it, to remain in something excessively heavy or tense; the story, far from that, builds the entire atmosphere — even making use of old narratives and motivations — to make the viewer care about each of the characters. As for the fan service, it is simply another one of the many gifts to be found throughout this work.
