If you disliked Chris Stuckmann from being scared of reviewing movies properly, then forcing you to go to the cinema to watch his movie, then you can see that as a reflection of what he did here. He might have the cinematography done but thats about it. Its not well directed, the horror is preditcable and the writing is awful. The actress in the main role did a great job but stuckmann thought he'd make it now with his directing debut like the other YouTubers, but he's far from their talent. Stuckmann, go back to reviewing movies, this ain't for you.
Great story, cinematography, acting, nothing about this movie is bad, Guillermo del toro proves once more that he's one of those legendary directors and writers that know how to make something compelling and stays true to the novel. Brilliantly done.
Karen wouldn't shut her mouth the entire movie. This isn't a predator movie, this is a simplified version of what has become a franchise that is now stuck in the clutches of Disney.
It’s not that people are tired of dinosaurs or the Jurassic franchise — far from it. What they’re tired of is the constant prioritization of dumb side quests and meaningless **** original Jurassic Park wasn’t just visually impressive — it was smart, well-paced, and filled with actual tension. You felt the danger. Every scene had stakes. Since Jurassic World, there’s been no cohesive plot to build on — just scattered action scenes and lazy callbacks with no real **** with Jurassic World: Rebirth, they think slapping on a flashy title and stacking the cast with A-list names will fix everything. But big actors don’t fill seats when the script plays it safe. You can have a star-studded cast, sure — but if the story’s the same recycled formula with no risks, people check ****’s mostly just action here, action there, and then it’s over. There’s no suspense, no real sense of horror, no scenes that make you hold your breath. The entire franchise feels like it’s been reduced to a theme park ride instead of a story.Truth is, you could easily replicate the core formula of Jurassic Park 1 and update it — add in more intense and terrifying encounters, create near-death close calls, and throw in some genuine twists the audience doesn’t see coming. That’s how you evolve a classic, not by watering it down with **** instead, we get yet another failed product that follows the same worn-out tropes introduced in the first Jurassic World and milked dry in the sequels. Hollywood is playing it way too safe — same templates, same beats, same outcomes.Maybe it’s time someone outside the usual studio system took over. Let an Asian filmmaker direct it, someone who’d actually take risks — someone who isn’t afraid to kill off a main character, someone who understands that dinosaurs should be terrifying, not sidekicks. Lean into the horror. Make it feel dangerous again.
Horrible movie, couldn't even finish it. Eiza shows to the world she can't act unless given proper directions. Standout: Aaron Paul, at least he's somewhat convincing due to the poor dialog given to him. Flashy imagery for shock value was awful, the set itself was decent but anything in relation to CGI or big scope looked horrible. wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
was a very surprising fun movie, two great actors. Story was done well, the pay off just as much. I've noticed since of late that Apple has been doing quite well with producing proper movies and TV shows.
I give it a 3 due to animation quality and the VA of Geralt of Rivia, really brining the character to life (like the games) other than that, the story, the dialogue is absolute a cringefest.
The opening of this movie was cool, the title drop of lord of the rings made my fan-heart pop out of its chest. However it dwindled down rather fast, the 4 out of 10 rating is due to its animation but story-wise it felt short in every way.
I had high hopes for this one, but that light went out faster than the lid up crosses in this movie.. The original (1970s) is better in every way, yes it's old, I get it but My God, apart from the gender and race swapping, which I personally think was unnessacery to begin with, it is just so absolute cringe-worthy... There were some decent effects I give them that, the glowing eyes, the vampires floating, was quite creepy to look at but that's about it. I understand why they were hesitant to release this, should just put it in the bin, like that other movie DC binned, Batgirl (batwoman?), would've been better. Anyway, My hopes is set on Nosferatu by Robert Eggers coming in December.
anyone rating this an 8 or above probably saw a different movie than I have. The acting of Taissa Farmiga was the only greatest thing about this. Predictable jump scares, forgettable characters, it was to be expected. It picks a bit up in the 2nd halve but it doesn't change the score all of a sudden to positive review. The conjuring universe is milked beyond its expiration date. It's time to pull the plug.
IF only this movie borrowed ideas from the first Alien movie, building up suspense, letting you care about the crew. You can have a slow burn movie if you do it correctly it could've been something great. There's another upcoming movie directed and written by Robert Eggers called Nosferatu, if there's any hope left for Hollywood to resurrect Dracula that movie could have the potential to do so. (Robert Eggers directed The Witch, Lighthouse, The Northman and they're all received well by audiences, one of the main reasons why I mention it here)
if you're fan of the goofy Evil Dead with Ash, than skip this one. This, like the evil dead 2013 're-make/sequel' of fede alverez are focused on gore and have a more serious tone. Evil Dead Rise starts strong but it has all the beats you'd expect from an evil dead movie, barely any surprises or new creative ideas are injected which is unfortunate. The ending leaves a lot desired because you've seen it done before, but better. I've watched this movie 3 times thus far to see if it would help, but alas it didn't. Gore = on point, story is meh, and the ending is just not creative at all. Giving throwbacks to the original or so is neat (a small cameo can be found if you listen to closely) but I feel like this movie directed by Lee Cronin is more of a "safe play" than something original. And let's be honest, both the 2013 and this one have only strong women in the lead role, we are in desperate need of an Ash character in this franchise again, who can be serious with its quirky joke drops from time to time but it is heavily focused on pushing the female leads in this franchise. Thus I score it a 6.
I give this movie a 4, only reason : Michael Myers kills. They did well on the kills with the R-rating but that's genuinely everything about this movie that's decent. The rest is forgettable.
