Cuphead

Cuphead... is good. I actually like it quite a bit, I may **** at the game but I think it does it's job well of giving players a sense of achievement while also giving probably the tightest run and gun game I've ever played. This game is just such a breath of fresh air for not only run and gun games but indie games in general as it really values its cartoon style however it maintains 60 fps no matter what is happening on screen or how bad your device may be. I've only played the game through once and that was with a friend so I can't really talk that much about the single player difficulty but can say it is not easy no matter which version you decide to play. For example, I went to the frogs boss battle in both single player and CO-OP but the amount of time to beat it was more or less the same no matter what version I played. When I did eventually get to the final boss with said friend, we both felt this massive sense of accomplishment and we still remain proud we finished it. I did have plans on playing through the game again but seeing how some bosses almost me and my friend go insane trying to beat and the game being a bit more difficult on my own, that single player run will probably never happen. However I will say this, I never felt cheated during a particular boss. Everything felt fair and balanced (maybe it's cause I've been cranking up my difficulty settings in games but overall, I think it does it's job). I really loved Cuphead and seeing how the Delicious Last Course (Cuphead DLC) came out not too long ago, I was blown away by how much this game nails what it sets out to do. I even beat it with that same friend not too long ago and we both fell in love with it. An already good game with a little cherry on top to truly make it worth buying and playing. If you need something different from whatever games you've been playing right now, try Cuphead out and see if you like it. I can understand the difficulty being a turn-off for most players but I truly think it's worth it regardless of how much you fail because that eventual victory will feel so good that you feel ready for anything. And if you want, play it with a friend to make the experience more enjoyable and fun (just don't be annoying, revive your friends if they die please). Anyways, thanks for reading. Peace out.

Half-Life 2

This one game already deserves a 10 without me explaining why. But I am going to anyway. About 4 years ago, I finally got the chance to play Half-Life 2 after being introduced to every other major game/franchise made by Valve when I started my Steam account and the game is really good. After I played through the game, I started noticing how a lot of games take influence from not only Half-Life 2 but the game engine made for it, the Source engine. Legit, almost every single thing in modern gaming can be traced back to this game and it's influence it made back when it was released (okay, maybe not the microtransactions but everything else, yeah). I recently played through the game again and I felt the same enjoyment I felt 4 years ago. Sometimes I didn't even need to actually play the game to feel enjoyment, I could just stand around doing nothing and still feel a sense of happiness. Overall, I think this game has withstood the test of time and will continue for years to come. The game does have some issues but for a 1st attempt at a sandbox action game like this, I appreciate what the game sets out to accomplish. In terms of the DLC (or Expansions if you wanna call it that), I think they are good as well. I just wish they didn't cancel the expanded storyline they had setup. Deathmatch and Lost Coast were a bit fun to explore but nothing else to really say. Once you play 5 minutes of both, you'll know everything these two side games have to offer. And I actually went back to play the original Half-Life and that too has some good things going for it (but to be honest I prefer Black Mesa, the unofficial remake of Half-Life but you can still buy it on Steam for $19.99). So yeah, play Half-Life 2 when you get a chance as it will not only serve as a welcome introduction into Steam but also a lot of video games. Anyways, thanks for reading. Peace out.

Dark Deception

*Disclaimer: The game is not finished yet, Chapters 1-4 have been released but the general audience is still waiting for Chapter 5 so do not take this review as advice for buying the full game on Steam or Epic Games. Instead, I will only be talking about the chapters that have been released. Viewer discretion is advised. Dark Deception is one of the weirdest games I've ever played but remains a game that I speak quite fondly of regardless of the issues the game may have. I remember it popping up in my Steam about section one day as I was browsing through games that I should buy and found it randomly. I was interested but I wasn't sold. It was when the game randomly started appearing on my recommended page on YouTube that I started to take notice. Eventually I downloaded the game about a few days later and began playing. And the first thing that stood out to me were the game's visuals being really good and not lacking in detail when I eventually had to turn down the graphics. I have a pretty bad PC so it can't really handle that many modern games at their full artistic detail, however the game is planned to release on consoles once Chapter 5 releases so eventually I will be able to but I still think they look okay after being turned down. In terms of the actual game, the summary my friends gave me was more or less the same as the actual game itself, "Pac-Man but with horror elements". However I still think it's fine for what it does. What I have an issue with is the game's heavy need on sound to detect when an enemy is near you. The 1st level relies on this so much that I died at least 5 times before I started to understand the enemy mechanics. It does get better later on as you need to rely more on visuals than sound but still is something that didn't exactly give me the best 1st taste. The game has been getting better with more updates and patches to make the game easier and more accessible to other players so that's good. They even have included mini bosses in Chapters 1 & 2 due to how much players loved the boss battles in Chapter 3. The 1st chapter is completely free however all the other chapters do cost money and am a bit annoyed but their pricing, each chapter (aside from Chapter 1) costs 6.99 on Steam with the Complete Edition with Chapters 2, 3 and 4 (with Chapter 5 coming later) costing $19.99. I am certain the complete edition price will become the game's price when the game is fully complete but for those who choose to buy one chapter at a time, this is annoying. The game does get better with each chapter is still something that I just can not ignore. Overall, play the 1st chapter and if you like it enough, consider buying the complete edition (if you can't, just buy the game chapter by chapter). Anyways, thanks for reading. Peace out.

I have played this game 4 times in my life (once on PC, once on Mobile (Android), and twice on PlayStation. The 1st 3 times were when I was really young and going into my middle/high school life but now times have changed, I'm in my senior year now and I think this game isn't that good and I'll explain why with 3 simple problems that I think drown this game and the franchise as a whole. First, regardless of how many remasters and updates are given, Chapters 1 & 2 are still very short and don't set the mood for the rest of the game. I mean by this is that these two chapters don't have any replay value, are very simple, and offer no challenge. I remember the 1st chapters more early versions better than the final version as it felt cheap and really gave an eerie vibe to the game that just isn't present in the final game anymore. Second, the game sometimes just decides to glitch out whenever and wherever it feels such as text not rendering properly, flashing curtains, the game crashing multiple times, clipping through objects, self-locking the game, broken AI, and just overall not funny and distracts me from the game too often. To be fair, a lot of these issues are coming from Chapter 5 and the console versions however that does not excuse the lack of updates and patches to fix these issues. As far as I can tell, none of the game's versions have been updated past 2019 and probably never get fixed. Which brings me to the 3rd point of this game, lack of credit given to the community. If you've watched a lot of interviews about the game and how it was made, you would know that the claim the two main devs (theMeatly and Mike Mood) gave during the early days of the game's life, they had the whole story planned out from the beginning however back in 2018 (I think), Mike Mood went onto a podcast to share that wasn't the case. In said podcast, Mike states "We only really knew the beginning and the end of the game. Everything else was made as we went along". This really **** because me and a lot of other members in the community had our theories about the game when the game wasn't finished and they we're releasing the game chapter by chapter however it turns out that the game was never made to be theorized on in the 1st place. If we had known that was gonna be the case, we would have waited patiently and turn our attention to other games and it gets worse when talking about Chapter 3. I still think Chapter 3 is the best out of all 5 but as it turns out, the story was not planned at all and the team had instead taken suggestions from the community (likely from fan theories) to build their story which is fine but you need to at least credit them which they did not do. And that is why I think the game isn't that great. If you like it, that's fine but for me personally, I do not. Anyways, I'm just gonna go play something else. Peace out.
