Ace of Spades: Battle Builder0

I'm sorry, but no. I'm going to hate this game for the rest of my days. Allow me to explain: For those of you that only heard of this game when it was released on Steam, and still think it's bad, you can only imagine how the fans of the original game feel. And I myself am a fan of the original game. The reason it attracted so many people in its early days was that it was simplistic. Very simplistic. The map was entirely featureless, with only a few green hills and a river. The weapon was a rifle. There was no mini-map. It was a game based entirely on skill. The building elements actually made a difference, with walls actually holding off the enemy, and tunnels actually allowing you to infiltrate their bases. Then I played this new version. Buildings are essentially useless now, with the inclusion of bazookas and TNT and other explosives. There's now four classes. There's new weapons that make the rifle effectively useless. It got turned from a fun little "Minecraft with Guns" into "Call of Duty with Minecraft elements" and that makes me sick.

Fantastic addition to the game. The multiplayer that shipped with the game was boring to say the least, which is of course why the original Mount and Musket mod became popular. I do find it appalling that the brass over at Paradox and Taleworlds thought it was appropriate to charge for this when it'd been previously available for free as a mod, albeit with a little less polish. But that doesn't detract from the fact that it's a great piece of DLC. Probably the first piece of DLC in quite a while that I'd advocate buying.

Is this a good game? Yes. Is it everything it said it'd be? Hell no. I don't understand the reviews of 0 and 1, because despite it's flaws, it's a fun game. Although it does get very boring after the first hour. No matter how large you make the campaign, I always end up doing the same things for attack and defense. For defense, simply place four AntiAir bots around the map and the enemy will never be able to land. For attacking, drop in a single trooper, dig down underground to the enemy brain's safe room, dig through the walls, and blam: Game Over, You Win, Please Insert Coin to Play Again. What's more, the game has some very inexcusable flaws. First and foremost, I'm told that I can hit Alt + Enter to go to Fullscreen mode. Except I can't do that. A lot of the game's art work features units like large two-legged mechs, but they aren't actually in the game. If the game was eleven years in the making, they must've spent ten of those years sitting around trying to think of a witty name. Over all, I'd recommend waiting a while for the developers to get their act together and pump more assets into the game before you buy it. It's going for just under
