An enchanting narrative game. I loved the setting, the characters, the conflict, the gameplay, the music. They just nailed it.

Loved it for the exploration, the beauty of the environments, fun combat, Garrus's return. Story is pretty intriguing ten hours in. Would have been 10/10 with more in-depth role-playing (more ways of solving problems, romance, for example).

Dragon Age: The Veilguard8

Update: I'm 25+ hours in now and I'm adding a point to my review because the game has grown on me. I had to let go of what I had envisioned for this sequel and just let it stand on its own merits. Currently 9 hours of gameplay in, my feelings for this title I waited 10 long years for are very mixed. The environments are gorgeous, it feels technically sound, I can't say I'm not having some fun... but it's also not at all what I hoped for. My favorite parts of Dragon Age origins were how dark and dire it felt, how clever and intriguing the dialogue (specially with Morrigan and Leliana) was. I feel I'm getting neither of these things in this game. I also personally preferred the CRPG approach to combat of previous titles, but cannot fault the combat here (it's good, I guess?). I will hold out hopes for a return to form with Dragon Age 5, if such a project is launched. Otherwise, I suppose I'll return to playing games by Owlcat Studios and Larian.

Review from a lolcasual gamer. I had a good time playing Starfield. The game has flaws, both in the design and in the writing, but overall I enjoyed myself enough over the 40 hours I played it to give it this rating. I think I enjoyed romancing Andreja the most?... well, minus her tendency to nag . But still, I like a game with romance, and this one had sweet bits. Furthermore, at least 1-2 faction questlines were quite good.

TLDR; It's not quite what I wanted it to be, but I'm having fun so it gets this score for me. I'm enjoying it. Let's get it out of the way: yes the character animations are cringy at worse, very blah the rest of the time. Yes the character creation was super disappointing and I kinda hate how my sisRyder looks. But I've been enjoying the combat and hanging around this new galaxy. The story doesn't have the complexity or intensity of, say, kotor, but it's still interesting enough to keep me engaged, and it really does have a bunch of *really good moments*. I don't *love* all the members of my crew, some are falling flat (looking at you Cora), but others are more interesting, and I've only gotten a few steps into my relationship with Suvi so it's too early to say how interesting the romancing gets. I'm a little overwhelmed by the million little sidequests which, if I were to do them all, would make it feel like an eternity between story points, but at least they're not mandatory. Just wish they'd spent their energy on fewer quests / no multiplayer and put it into other aspects of the game. Oh, and because the mako was terrible, gotta say I love the nomad! I love a vehicle I can drive crazy reckless in and not crash, that's pretty practical for someone who drives like a Montrealer.
