I love the Battletech/Mechwarrior lore and games. I've played them since MW2 including all the subsequent games. This one is a bust. The UI is clunky and the coding is very poorly optimized. It's atrocious. MW3 was the most playable version by far, but MW4 was more balanced. This game is clunky and slow for no good reason. The mechlab even lags. By far its biggest flaw is the atrociously awful coding - the game crawls and the graphics do not justify the huge resources it requires. I mean lagging in the mechlab is unacceptable in this day and age. It should respond instantly when I click from one tab to another. Another flaw is the turn-based concept. Mech Commander 2 was a top down RTS with pause and when you had pause, then you do not need turns - turns are just redundant when pause exists. However, I would guess that this game would not even run as an RTS due to the resource drain.

Completely unbalanced game for air players. For all the raves about it being balanced, it absolutely impossible to use air factories as anything except secondary factories. The developers are extremely biased against air play. If an air player discovers a technique that makes the air factory or gunship factory even close to balanced, the developers will hit it with a nerf hammer quick fast and in a hurry.

It's a decent time waster, but after about 50 hours playtime it falls off hard. The timers become ridiculously long and it takes real money to shorten them. Worse, the UI is poor and it's quite difficult to click on a character without selecting the room instead or sometimes vice versa. There is no way to select multiple characters at once to respond to an attack so lots of needless clicking.

This games is AWESOME! It's a trader, passenger, capture ship game that has **** me in for 100s of hours. It's free and has numerous mods - which I haven't touched yet. You start with 1 of 3 small ships and I now have a fleet of over 1000. Each ship is heavily customizable, weapons, shield chargers, engines, power sources, cargo pods, passenger bunks, coolant systems, batteries, boarding weapons etc. I love to capture ships and board disabled ships and steal items. I do recommend going into the text file and adding "disables" to the NPC fleet file so those darn NPCs don't destroy disabled ships that I want to steal. The missions are ok, but you have to be careful with cargo missions because of crew salary per day that could eat up your funds, if you don't do some general cargo sales from system to system. Once I acquired a ship with more crew, I could start capturing bigger and bigger ships instead of buying ships. Overall. A really fun space trading game with a nice story built into it. I'm sure I will enjoy the mods too! Download it now!

I haven't played the game in a year because of how bad it was in 2015 - terrible user interface and awful grind. I decided to download the massive update (took nearly 3hours for the updates) and try it out. It's no better now than it was a year ago - worse actually because they stopped giving away free items (the game is basically pay to win). The game modes are the same and still pathetic - just like the game. If you've played previous Mech Warrior games, then you will not much like this version. I was top 100 online in MW4 so I know a good game; this game is not worth your time.
