I just finished season 1 and was wowed by this show. I thought the characters were played exceptionally well, both those I loved as well as those I hated (with the latter being as critical to a good drama as the former), with their positions of power, assumptions and moral compasses being constantly tested. What I found most intriguing, was the nuanced commentary on #metoo. It managed to capture the insidious nature of sexual discrimination; the way it pervades our lives, and how we may unwittingly (or in full knowledge of our actions) feed these behaviours and perpetuate the issue. It highlighted the sheer complexity of the issue and the mountain of work we have to do to bring about workplace - and life - equality. I thought the insight in the perpetrators psyche, and particularly their methods of denying and justifying their own actions, was a real eye opener. If only one person stands up for somebody being sexually discriminated against as a result of this show (I hope it is way more), it will have been a massive win.

I can't believe I was actually bored watching a Marvel series... I don't know what happened here, but Coulter, who was truly intimidating in his brief appearances in 'The Good Wife', and apparently propped up by the quality personalities around him in Jessica Jones - making him look good - was dull. He has absolutely no acting range, or at least wasn't given license to use it here. The rest of the actors - the good - Pop is cool and Rosario Dawson who owns everything she's in, and Simone Missick is fantastic although not allowed to stay true to her character. The bad guys are laughable - literally. They are not remotely scary, poorly acted and questionable character choice. I mean Shades, one of the baddest guys around, is played by Theo Rossi - the weakest dude on the block in Son's of Anarchy. He is actually the only semi decent bad guy though, in his defence, which says a lot about the rest of the bunch.

This show gets more disappointing with every episode. My take let's say you give Avengers 100 out of 100. This show is just like the Avengers oh but with a bunch of dimwit gen-y actors (-15 points) minus the budget (-15) minus the script (-10), minus a plot (-20). And even making Clark Gregg into a **** (-20!). 100 80 20 out of 100 yeah, that's about right....
