WWII Aces3

This game is impossibly difficult. Even at the easiest setting on the first level, the game is punishingly difficult. The awkward Wii controls and lack of mission variety really are a let down. That's not to say there isn't a lot to do, because there is with over 60 missions, but many of them are just the same objective in a different setting. It's way too repetitive. This game seems like it was almost half-assed and the fact that it is so unapproachable by all but the most skilled person with a wiimote and an infinite amount of patience.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent10
Jun 14, 2013
This game sets the bar for all horror games for decades to come. This game dwarfs Dead Space, Resident Evil, and Silent Hill. Besides the alluring environment, the creepy atmosphere of the game will keep you on your toes. I had heard of how scary this game was so when I first began playing it I was overly expectant of something to pop out at me. Finally, after not seeing anything scary for a level or two I let my guard down, and boy, did I pay the price. This game has its jump scares but it has no need to rely on that; this game is a psychological horror. The moment you're expecting to turn a corner and find a monster lurking there, naturally, it won't be there. The monsters aren't the most terrifying things in the world once you've seen them up close for awhile, but they still managed to get my heart racing and elicit a sense of urgency when they appear from the shadows. The story in this game is another riveting aspect of it. Daniel's journey through Brennenburg is one of self-discovery. Notes written by Daniel in a pre-psychotic time provide a wonderful backstory as to Daniel's motives for his vendetta and the lore of Brennenburg's history. Amnesia is a game to be immersed in; not won. None of the 4 possible endings to the game offers a definitive sense of victory, only one of appeasement; accomplishing your goal. Some ignorant people may denounce this game because of a lack of action, story, etc. but that's part of the experience. Sure, games like Dead Space and Resident Evil are more action driven, but I think that takes away from the horror of the game. Moreover, The past few entires in those series haven't been as scary and more shooters than survival horror games. Amnesia as no weapon, your main method of defense is running and hiding from monsters. All in all, Amnesia is one of the best games to have arrived in recent years. It sets the precedent for what all survival horror games should strive to hope to achieve. That's not to say I want to play a carbon-copy of Amnesia: The Dark Descent, but basic innovations on the concepts introduced in Amnesia could create an enthralling masterpiece that goes down in video game history as the scariest game ever. as it stands now, Amnesia has clearly owned that title.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City9
Jun 12, 2013
This game is a wonderful play on 1980s Miami. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City contains an overwhelming amount of content, especially considering the fact it was developed in 2003. Although the world is a bit small in regards to Grand Theft Auto IV and Skyrim, for it's time, this game does an excellent job filling the area with lots of content. Almost every spot in the game has some tie in with a quest. There is no empty space. In Oblivion you could ride your horse around for 10 minutes and find almost nothing to do. In Vice City, Everywhere you drive there's something to do. This brings me to my next point; driving. Often times, I found myself aimlessly driving around just for the fun of it, sometimes doing various vehicle submissions (like the Taxi, Vigilante, and Ambulance missions). The stunts in the game are a bit lacking, as it's often difficult to find a proper set up for a super awesome stunt you want to pull off (no flips on a motorcycle). 10 years after Grand Theft Auto: Vice City hit store shelves it's still a hugely successful game and easily regarded as one of the best open world, action shooters of all time.

Hitman: Contracts6
Jun 12, 2013
Hitman Contracts is a great game. However, the game was too easy in certain parts (the final level took me 5 minutes to figure out) while other levels are appropriately scaled. I like how there are multiple approaches to each level, whether you go full stealth or rush in guns blazing (Which is sometimes the best approach) I thought the sensitivity to being uncovered was a bit much. Simply talking to the guy at the bar in "Meat King" often elicited a response from guards, even though nothing out of the ordinary had occurred. All in all, Hitman Contracts was an enjoying game but it left me yearning for a more rewarding experience.

Speed Racer9
Dec 16, 2012
This is a very good racing game; in the leagues of Mario Kart perhaps. While the movie was terrible, this is one of the exceptions to the common law that "movie video games ****." There are only five main racetracks but they courses are altered so you can get 6 different tracks out of one scenario. There are also a wide array of characters to choose from and they all have their own unique race car. One thing that I surprisingly liked was "Car Fu", which is doing Karate and Kung Fu moves with your car on other racers. The points you get from these moves can are turned into energy in a bar. When the energy fills up, you have a speed boost. The nice thing about these speed boosts though, is that they can stack upon one another (to a max of 4) and releasing all 4 simultaneously will turn you into an unstoppable speed machine. If you were uninspired by the movie, don't let that influence your decision to play this game. BUY.

Wonder World Amusement Park1
Dec 16, 2012
This game was a good idea, but very poorly presented. The main premise is that you are in an amusement park that is divided into sections (like Disney or Busch Gardens) and you must play certain carnival games to earn tickets and advance. At the end of each world, there is a "ride" you can go on which isn't even a game; you just sit there and watch a ride. Then you get to move on to the next section of the park and do that all over again. The problem is, most of the minigames are nothing you haven't seen before or they were extremely unforgiving. One of the games consisted of you dragging an object along a certain path, but if you even flinched and slightly went off the track you would have to start over again. It was extremely frustrating and forced me to turn off my Wii and pop in something better. This game is good if you have very young children (6 years old or less), however, steep, unforgiving, and boring gameplay and rewards will be unenjoyable to anyone who dares enter Wonder World Amusement Park. Pass.
