Red Dead Redemption 20
Jan 17, 2019
OK, so you're looking at my score and you're thinking "Are you kidding me?". Well, just hang on and listen for a moment and I'll explain. First off, this review is only for the multiplayer aspect of RDR2. I bought RDR2 for multiplayer and not single player. Below I'll list some pros and cons but the short version is that since Rockstar completely ignored the fact that the game would be dominated by griefers the game is nearly unplayable unless you are a griefer yourself. An analogy would be owning a Tesla Model X but a bunch of jerks keep intentionally blocking your driveway so you can't actually drive the car. It's the same with RDR2. All the pros listed below and thrown in the waste bin by the fact that Rockstar chooses, so far, to ignore the problem. Pros: - Stunning graphics - Massive world - Excellent characters and animations - Fun missions Cons: - You can't enjoy any of the pros in multiplayer without getting griefed again and again and again.

Fallout 769

First things first. The low ratings this game has received are to be taken for what they are "Tantrum Reviews". It's idiotic to give this game anything 6 or below regardless of what your preconceived notions about what the game should be like. People giving the game a zero are like the guy in the video having a tantrum because he only go stop credit for returning the game. The moral of the story is to read the content of the reviews rather than looking at the score. I don't write many reviews but when I saw Fallout 76 was getting inundated with 0's and 1's I had to set the record straight with an honest review to oppose the punitive Tantrum Reviews. The eagle eyed amoung you might notice that I have given games a zero before but that's only because they were completely unplayable and/or the game description said the game was something that it wasn't. Personally, I find the game to be amazing. I love the fact that I can play Fallout with friends. I've been dying for that for a very long time. The entire system is very familiar from Fallout 4 so the learning curve is very shallow for people who have played that game. I do miss the human NPC's sometimes but only just. If you liked Fallout 4 there's just no reason to not love Fallout 76. Did I mention you get to play a Fallout game with friends?????? The good: The graphics are amazing with stunning textures. As usual, the character animations are nearly flawless. The quests are typical Fallout quests which is good because I like those quests. It's very stable for only a few days out of release. The anti-griefing measures seem to be working well. Cons: No human NPCs can be a little disconcerting. I had a few lost connections on day 1. None since then.

Job Simulator8
Dec 18, 2016
Note: I have only played this game with the Vive. I'd like to give Job Simulator a 10 out of 10 .... but I can't. Job Simulator is amazingly fun game. The implementation of room scale and controller experience is perfect. It's a game that is guaranteed to absolutely stun anyone new to the room scale VR experience. So, why not 10 out of 10? There just isn't enough replayability in the game. The is arguably only about 15-20 minutes of game play for your money here. Still, I don't regret my purchase as every time I fire it up and I have great time .... just not for a very long time. I'd love to see the publisher take this game and make a MUCH larger and longer game. I'd happily pay $60 for a Job Simulator 2 game that has 40 plus hours of game play in it.

Steep4
Dec 18, 2016
Steep is a STUNNINGLY beautiful game with amazing game mechanics. It's amazing fun to batwing down the mountains barely skimming above the rocks swerving in and around obstacles. The play area, not including the coming DLC Alaska, is GIGANTIC and if you're into exploration and winter sports, Steep is a game that will endlessly entertain you. I must, however, give Steep poor marks. I simply can't give a game that is multiplayer based anything above a 4 if the multiplayer aspect of the game is total garbage. Once again Ubi has failed in the implementation of multiplayer. Given over 40 hours of game play I can say categorically that it's nearly impossible to stay connected with more than 1 other friend online for more than about 10 minutes. Ubi's response to such disconnections is the predictable "open these ports" or "put your PS4 in the DMZ" or "check your NAT" or some such other useless advice. Ubi needs to look inward and find out why their games are the only AAA games that have truly horrible connection issues that never get fixed.

RISK (2014)0
Dec 18, 2016
First off, I LOVE playing Risk. I absolutely love playing it. I love it. Now that I've got that out of my system, I can start my review by saying that Ubi has done a fine job of transferring it to digital form. The game feels like the board game and plays enough like it for hard core fans like myself to enjoy it. Hold on? Why am I then giving it an awful rating? I am giving it an awful rating because Risk is a multiplayer game and if the multiplayer system is hopelessly broken then, regardless of how well the game mechanics work, the game is utter trash. I tried this game with online friends again and again and EVERY SINGLE time someone got disconnected before the end of the game. Disconnected mind you ONLY in Risk. This has nothing to do with ports or firewalls as Ubi would like us to believe since we all, at one point put ourselves in the DMZ (as well as trying to open the required ports) which did not help. Also, all other games by all other publishers do not have this issue. Ubi used to be the go to publisher for top notch games. Now it's games are less reliable than indie games. Sad.

RollerCoaster Tycoon World8

First off. Don't take the insanely negative reviews seriously. They're just the knee jerk reviewers that do their best to bring a game to its knees simply because a game isn't exactly what they expected and isn't perfect immediately. I've played MANY early access games before so I don't expect a bug free game nor do I expect all the features to be implemented yet. What I did expect was: To be able to build a theme park with fully functional custom rollercoasters. To have to manage park resources. To be able to watch the customers taking in the park. To be able to see the ride in 1st person. To be able to follow a customer around to see what they're up to. I'm happy because I can do all that and more. It was money well spent and I'm looking forward to an even better experience in the future. I hope the haters don't ruin the game by killing sales with their typical "This early access game **** because it's not perfect." stupidity. More than one promising game has been ruined by spoiled brats given overly negative reviews. Let's hope that doesn't happen here.

The first programming I did was in assembly language and this is a great throwback to that. If you're not a programmer the puzzles will be more difficult than if you have programming experience but you do NOT have to be a programmer to be able to solve the puzzles. I wish more games exercised the mind, like this one, rather than just exercising the mouse button finger.

Elite: Dangerous10
Jul 19, 2015
If you're looking for an open world space game there is nothing better nor has there ever been anything better than Elite: Dangerous. Here's the thing. ED is NOT GTA in space, Skyrim in space, WoW in space or CoD in space. ED is a completely open world space sim. You probably will not like this game if you are excited about the idea of a pure space simulation game. What role you take on is completely dependent on you. If you want to be a pirate then you have to act like one. You can literally do anything you want to just don't expect your hand to be held down the path of a linear game. ED is about as far from linear as one can get. Space sim enthusiasts will love this game. People who require hand holding and instant gratification will not like this game. It's pretty simple.

Rory McIlroy PGA Tour3

I'm giving this game a 3 .... and that's generous. If you're a golfer you will NOT like this game. EA just can't seem to release their golf titles without making obvious and horrible mistakes. The Good: 1. The courses are very well laid out and the graphics are excellent. 2. The two fantasy courses would be fun to play if it weren't for "The Bad". 3. Four people can play at once unlike some previous versions where the limit was two players. 4. You can see other players .... sometimes (see the bad also on this topic). The Bad: 1. Double Bogey is the stroke limit? Are you kidding me?!?!?!?!?!?!? The same producer who, on previous versions, decided to have a two player limit (thankfully that is no longer the case), must have made that decision. This in itself is a fatal flaw not allowing me to give it more than a 3. No real golf would ever allow that kind of limitation. Watch a round of PGA golf and even the pros triple bogey or more on occasion. If it's a speed of play issue then make it a selectable limitation by the person who sets up the session. 2. Sometimes you actually can't see the other players as advertised. All you see is a ball. It's hit or miss when the game let's you see other players. 3. The first game I played .... on the hardest mode and on a difficult course I shot a 74. EA, it's OK to make the game challenging. 4. There are times where you are in a deep bunker and it's simply not possible to get out by any means except a full swing which takes you 50 yards or more past the target. 5. GTA golf, although it lacks a variety of courses, is at least as good as this golf game. 6. Time limit??? Do we really need to force this on people? Make it an option. 7. Very little customization of anything at all. Many of the flaws could be fixed by simply making settings available at game setup (e.g. Time Limits, Stroke Limit). EA ripped out 90% of what has always been customizable in previous versions. 8. The camera is poorly implemented. There are occasions where you can't see your golfer nor can you even see where you're aiming nor can you see your swing. The people in charge of design decisions clearly are NOT golfers and don't understand the game at all. EA, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have a real golfer run through the design document next time. In retrospect I wouldn't have paid $5 for this game.

Artemis: Spaceship Bridge Simulator10
Jan 19, 2014
I'm giving this game a full 10 out of 10 as it's beyond amazing. There is NOTHING even close to like it anywhere. I've tested it on PC and iOS (iPads) and it worked flawlessly. Our test setup consisted of a PC hooked up to a large screen T.V. running the server (the only real physical setup we did) and everyone else running iPads (and mini's) running the clients(That's right. Almost no significant setup required. We were up and running in minutes.). This is something that would certainly require practice to get any kind of meaningful coordination but that's the fun isn't it? I think it would be AMAZING for this to become a team based e-sport. Just imagine having teams of people running ships in PVP. Coordination would be key. I'm not, however, clear on what the communication officer would do it PVP but hey, they just answer the phone anyway don't they? The only thing this game is missing is the station for the person who repeats back what the computer says. :-)

X Rebirth5
Nov 30, 2013
After several days of tweaking settings I was able to play this game. That' says allot right there. I rated each section out of 3 1/3 and then added them up. Graphics(1): The graphics are a rather odd mix. The character models look like those from games made a decade ago. The ships, however, are lovely. The game's frame rate is horrible on my system which runs most other games at Ultra. Audio (2) The audio is fine but not spectacular. The voice acting is passable but almost seems like "developer voice acting" at times. It is, however, consistent with previous X versions. Gameplay (2) The gameplay is good but still lacks polish. Some of these issues may be due to the horrible frame rates. That gives X Rebirth a 5 out of 10

Saints Row IV10

This game is a MUST HAVE if you have a sense of humor, aren't a prude and love action. It beats the competition by miles. Here's what not to expect: - The use of M.F. every 5 seconds for no apparent purpose. - The use of racial slurs every 6 seconds for no apparent purpose. - Incentives to murder the good guys (SR4 gets around this neatly but it would be a spoiler to explain). Here's what to expect: - Excessive use of ridiculous humour everywhere. - Unrelenting action. - An almost infinite number (if you do the math its a VERY BIG NUMBER) of permutations for character customization. - The use of the profanity but minimally. The player isn't mindlessly bombarded with it. - Plenty of sexual based humour. If you find sex offensive then fine but try and leave the Sunday School "sex is bad" at Sunday School and you'll see the humour in it. - Bizarreness in the extreme. - Did I mention it's completely BIZARRE yet? BUY this game. you won't regret it

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier0
Mar 30, 2013
I won't list the features in this review as Wikipedia does that nicely already. I will, however, explain my score. My score is based entirely on the fact that the case said that it is "Play Station Move Compatible" and that is clearly NOT the case. I purchased the game specifically for that reason and the claim was completely false. Making clearly false product claims, particularly ones that drastically alter game play, is inexcusable.

Guild Wars 210
Mar 30, 2013
I won't repeat information about game play which is easily available by using Google. I will, however, explain my rating. I am giving Guild Wars 2 a 10 out of 10. I don't mean to say that it is a perfect game. It's not perfect. I mean to say that GW2 is better than any other game in it's class (MMORPG) by a long long way. It fixes many of the issues that plague other MMORPG's. It eliminates "Pay to win". It eliminates "Gear to win". It eliminates "Static worlds". It eliminates "Monthly fees". For those reasons alone I would give GW2 a 10 out of 10.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 140
Mar 30, 2013
This game contains at least one CRITICAL flaw. To quote EA's own site "Online Multiplayer 1-2". For one, since when is "1" multiplayer? Lastly, golf is traditionally played by a foursome. Why on Earth is the game limited to 2 player online multiplayer? Some of the earlier versions of the game were not limited in that way. Why would EA remove such a key feature from the game? BIZARRE!!!! From that reason alone (max of 2 players online multiplayer) I give Tiger Woods 14 and resounding 0.
