Developers referred to this as a technical marvel. Watch any cutscene and tell me it is a 'technical marvel' again. Controls are terrible and cannot be remapped at will - like what the actual f*(k! Graphics are mediocre and I run at 4k. Car camera is too close and the options to change camera are not much better. Weather effects are 100% overrated. While there are sound radio stations to cycle through, they are all rubbish. Overall, I will never buy from avalanche studios again after being burnt with JC3 and now JC4.

Titanfall

To sum up Titanfall is simple. Over hyped. This is over rated by almost all of the major reviewers out there. I believe that once trusted sites such as Gamespot, IGN and others are losing their integrity by giving this game more than it justly deserves. A good 6.0 out of 10. Nothing wrong with the game, but certainly a far fry from revolutionary or re-inventive etc. The graphics are not even last gen, they are 2004/05 at best. The gameplay feels clunky and the so called campaign is a joke. The AI is the worst I have experienced in many years. The only redeeming qualities of this game is the actual Titan concept. This has clearly been a copy and paste job like a sandwich with multiple spreads ripping ideas from Battlefield 2142 and shoving them into a Call of Duty universe / gameplay style. I can only give it a 3.00. Mainstream reviewers should be ashamed of themselves for praising this farce.

Probably the best racing game on Xbox 360 bar none (other than other Forza's), but to call this a simulator is like comparing the brightness of the sun to a candle. Great fun for mucking around in, though sadly this only outlines exactly the difference between PC gaming and console. I am a huge xbox 360 fan, but this game just doesn't compare to racing sims on PC. Bonus point for Jeremy Clarkson dialogue!

The first Crysis was amazing and ground breaking. Sadly, anything good automatically spawns sequels, and like Hollywood, the sequels are generally rubbish. Vapid franchise (excluding the original).

Shallow, vapid experience. Far Cry 3 was great but this game becomes boring after the first twenty minutes or so of repetitive gameplay. Great in short bursts only.

I bought this game from a bargain bin for about 20 dollars, yet this feels too much for a game rattling with flaws. First of all the menu is an abomination. You need the steady hand of a marksman to highlight the menu feature that you want and then the finesse of a blind massage to select anything. For some unknown reason the Xbox controller is disabled so you will spend much of your time performing Jedi mind tricks just to get beyond the menus. The sports on offer are good but broken. For some reason the game will run itself but then when you want to actually have any input it assumes you are a drunk fool and mimics your lack of coordination. The one positive is the length of the sports. Particularly the ski then shoot target game, that is okay when the moons align around Jupiter long enough for the player to finish the challenge. 3/10.

I bought this game from a bargin bin for around 10 bucks, yet that feel's like I wasted my money. The game is broken. The Kinect settings are so bad that the only way to gain any score from any actions in this game would be purely coincidental. I think I hit a target in the darts by jumping up and down in frustration with the game. The other major flaw is the lack of controller support, meaning that you literally have to use the Kinect features to navigate the menu which is extremely difficult to use and only registers very precise and out of place hand signals. I would argue this is more strict than North Korea's holiday travel program. Multiplayer is also broken so don't bother attempting to play with a friend. I think if I had a dozen beers and fell asleep in the menu would grant me a better experience. 0/10.

Bugs, glitches and broken aspects to this game should be a reflection on the user reviews, yet they are rating this game well above what it deserves. Obviously there are many fans of the whole 'zombie invasion' genre out there who will blanket this game 10s 100%. In reality, the game was released too early and needed much fixing before it is worth more than a 6 out of 10.

Rfactor, a title well known for its physics and mod friendly design. A simple game at its core with powerful potential. Rfactor is the benchmark for realistic racing in the sim racing world. Don't take my word for it. F1 teams use Rfactor Pro, which is essentially the same game. The title is now six years old, yet it still retains the highest level of community and modding over all other competing titles. The visuals were good for their time and the game can be as easy or challenging as you like. The only draw backs are that you would need a racing wheel to get the full experience out of the game and you also need an fast and reliable internet connection to download the thousands of mods available for free out there. Easily a 9/10 game for it's heyday.

i bought this game after watching trailers and looking at screenshots. It looked amazing! Until I put it on my rather powerful PC rig and it ran like a one legged dog. The texture filtering issue is a game breaker in itself and make the game feel unfinished. The story had a good premise (even though the post apocalyptic world was well know to the gaming universe by now), but delivered like Mad Max 3. The gameplay frustrated me more than anything else, particularly when I cleared an area and then as soon as I go back, it is full of the same Serious Sam enemies that simply rush you like Justin Beiber fans at the airport. Other than this the missions are uninventive and repetitive. Finally to top it off, I hate when you know a game is a simple port of a console game when it tells you not to 'turn off your PC while saving'. Yeah, I think i might just reach around the back and yank out the power supply from my $4000 computer during a save load. This insults my intelligence and dumbs down the game. Here are two top tips for future cross platform games not originally designed for PC: 1.) Don't paste the game folder into 'Bobs game converter' to solely change the necessary files into a wizz PC format. 2.) Actually take the time to make the game into another format, such as PC and play test it first before boxing it up for release. You don't see chefs sending out food to paying customers before checking it is cooked and tastes right. Therefore, for the above flaws, Rage on the PC is only worth a 2/10.

RaceRoom Racing Experience

Simbin is a company that is well respected in the sim racing community making hit titles such as the GTR franchise and Race07. However their latest effort RaceRoom Racing Experience is a joke compared with these excellent games. In an attempt to adopt the 'free-to-play' model, Simbin have tarnished their value as a sim game developer to such a level that I don't think I will bother with them in future. RaceRoom lets you (in theory), play a heap of cars on tracks from all over the globe either alone or online with friends and like-minded sim racers. In reality it gives you one car and two tracks and will not let you play online without forking out significant dough for little game. Tracks cost between 6-12 dollars and cars are similar. This is pathetic, considering how little content there is to sample in the first place. This leads me to think that Simbin have not thought out the free-to-play model in the slightest. I am an avid rfactor player and contributor to the community making around twenty circuits that you can google and have a go of. I love sim racing. Raceroom claims to be a sim racer but contains only arcade elements. You have traction control automatically enabled and as far as I can tell, it cannot be fully turned off. The AI are either uncatchable or hopelessly slow. This needs fixing to say the list. It is a shame, as there is one element to this game that is a fantastic idea. That is the updating drive line based on your skill. Basically, if you set a new best time on the track, the game will update the 'drive line' and braking zone to match what you have just done on track. This can then be shared online for others to try and beat. In a word brilliant. The graphics are as I expect for a 2013 PC title. However all other elements drag the game down to a certain fail. Hopefully the developers catch wind of these reviews and make changes, after all free-to-play titles can only survive with consistent updating and tweaking such as Tribes Acend has done. As for now in its current version release, Raceroom is only worth a 3/10 to a sim racer. If you are after an arcade experience then this could **** through to a 5/10, but with next to no free content available, they are clutching at straws with their interesting gameplay mechanics.

Far Cry 3

Unlike many of my friends, I enjoyed Far Cry 2. What a brilliant shift from the first game into an environment we hardly see in gaming in Africa. Now, yes I am aware that I am reviewing Far Cry 3. I just want you the reader to be aware of my experience with Far Cry 2 first. FC3 however, unlike FC2 was a disappointment to me. Yes the world looks fantastic and the return to the island jungle is a welcome one. But FC3 was just too dull for me. It felt exactly like FC2 only with a brighter sun and surf on my doorstep. Oh an not having malaria this time is always a delight in gaming. The story is interesting, Vas is crazy and I must save my moron friends. That works fine in this island paradise. But while on this journey of the mind and sole of my character I grew to, well, there is no easy way to say this hate myself. Not in reality, but within the game. Why, you may ask? Simple, unlike Gordon Freeman, he speaks and what he has to say is of no value and often takes the words out of my mouth before I get to say anything in reality. This happens when I enter a cave or put out an arm fire. He just chimes in and says the obvious. Things like "wow, what a cave amazing place". Yes Jason, we get it. Me aside, the game world offers very little as far as open world games go. Radio tower scouts, hunting, driving to kill people, you name it. All those dull things just didn't carry any real value to me other than building bigger wallets to buy slightly better weapons once in a while. The camera is also useless as I found I couldn't bring it out to take wonderful screenshots of this oceanic paradise. Why not?! I did enjoy taking over locations. This is something that the game developers have done with such a simple fineness that makes them enjoyable. The main story is not too bad either and worth a good play-through at least once. But if I play through it again, the game would need to be patched to remove any dialogue from my character, he is just so full of um... Solid game, but not as good as it could be. 7/10.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown

A relaunch of a classic turn based strategy title, XCOM: Enemy unknown is a triumph of gaming for 2012. The game set out to reinvent the TBS (Turn Based Strategy) game market after years of development. I for one feel that it has done this with real fineness. XCOM EU, demonstrates the wonderfully high resourcefulness of the Unreal3 Engine, with great visuals and solid gameplay mechanics. For the first time in a perhaps many years, I felt compelled to tread lightly with my soldiers for if I make a stupid mistake, then they die and they are gone, no do overs, just gone. This was something I was apprehensive of at first, but found that it would brilliantly in TSB games. Building the base is something that also must be thought out carefully to take full advantage of the technologies you will use to combat an unknown enemy force. I will tell you know that the enemy's *spoiler alert* are aliens from another planet, so I don't know if the title works, but this is one of the few quips I have with the game. That, and the fact that you only have one base on one continent is a drawback to micro-managers such as myself. The AI can be brutal on the normal difficulty which makes me pensive before any high threat level mission. However over time I learnt to attempt flanking the enemy rather than running and gunning. Upgrading your base and soldiers is essential for survival beyond the first few hours of gameplay. I honestly enjoyed this game so much that I give it 8/10. The only draw backs are the lack of variety in missions and no ability to have multiple bases on other continents around the world. Excellent game all round.

Dishonored was a game that I had high hopes for, but like many other titles of the last twelve months, it let me down. The game has a heavy focus on stealth which just didn't quite play out as the developers said it would. There is very little stealth elements that actually work. The AI become too aware too easily both in daylight and night. The 'skills' felts too much borrowed from that of Bioshock, as is many other gameplay mechanics, including picking items up, health, weapon use etc. I did however like the art style. It feels fresh and exciting while the story is not what I expected, yet it was entertaining enough to play the game through. However there are many flaws in Dishonored for me to recommend it. The missions are repetitive and the game just feels like I am playing Bioshock other than something new and original.
