Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight3

This game is embarrassing. While the graphics and animation is beautiful, that’s all I can say for this cash grab. The little amount of free content (it is mostly DLC) I might forgive if the game was free but it is far from it. The gameplay is also not spectacular with brightly coloured moving backgrounds that make it hard to aim and it the notes. This version is only slightly better than the persona 5 version since you get to see the persona 3 cast in glorious HD models.

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable9
Mar 23, 2020
One of the best JRPGs in my opinion. The great characters, the dark atmosphere, and the unusual themes and morals of death really set this one apart. While it gets a little too melodramatic at time and has some silly aspects that seem out of place like a knife wielding dog, storywise this is one of Atlus’s best works. I prefer the portable version of the game because I generally feel like the addition of the female protagonist doubles the games replay value.

Persona 4 Golden7

An excellent JRPG. While the graphics are not polished and some aspects of the game, such as Yosuke’s antics, have aged poorly, overall it is a great game. The story is excellent, the characters (while a bit dull) feel like they could be real people, and the murder mystery aspect keeps the plot focused. While the lightheartedness can be a bit tone deaf in a game about murder, it does keep things fun. I also do think the Golden is better in the original in terms of gameplay and mechanics if you have a vita. Warning: The long tutorial will be off putting to many.

Persona 59

This is one of those games that changes the landscape for the genre. The gameplay is top notch, the graphics are gorgeous, even the menus are some of the best in recent gaming. While the game has some story issues like Haru getting little development in the story, using a victim of a pervert in the first arc as the fan service for the rest of the game, and having some parts that bloated it and could have been trimmed down, there is more good than not and overall the story is excellent otherwise. If you like JRPGs and have a PS4, just go buy it - there is so much content you will be busy for a looong time.

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony5
Mar 23, 2020
A step down from Danganronpa 1 and 2. While this one had better trial mechanics, this one had fewer likeable characters and was often predictable if you remember the events of the first 2 games to the point you can guess which character will be killed off and know who not to bother getting attached too early. The ending was also anticlimactic and can leave people feeling hollow instead of hopeful and the game overall relies more on cheap fan service. It is a shame because there are some good characters, the music is bopping, and the art is seriously improved from the last games so it is by no means a lost cause or bad game, but sadly it had big shoes to fill.

Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair9

Even better than the first one. An ambitious game with a great story, unique art style, and excellent music. While it has some of the same issues as the first one with some parts unbalanced with here being much more visual novel than video game and some of the puzzles are not great, it is still a must have for any vita owners. The characters are great and the story is even better than the prequel although I do think the ending to this one is more cheesy. If you enjoy visual novels or ace attorney style puzzle this game is a must have.

Great if you want a dark little strategy game. While there is a lot of DLC, the base game isn’t that expensive so I understand they need to charge somewhere to make money, especially since you can play the base game without it and still enjoy yourself.
