Resident Evil Requiem4
Aug 24, 2026
My Review — 4/10* The hotel introduction is way too long. I’m not used to Resident Evil games spending this much time on an opening section like this. It felt unnecessarily dragged out and took too long to actually feel like a Resident Evil game.* The gameplay differences between Grace and Leon are way too extreme. Grace feels like she belongs in Resident Evil 2, while Leon feels like he was pulled straight out of Resident Evil 4. There’s no real harmony between their gameplay styles, and I never felt fully immersed when switching between them. It feels like I’m playing two completely different games.* Grace’s fear is overdone to the point of becoming annoying. I understand that she’s supposed to be inexperienced and terrified, but the game pushes it way too far. Instead of making me feel scared with her, it eventually became repetitive and frustrating.* The underground laboratory section beneath the orphanage was extremely boring. It felt repetitive and, honestly, like a forced attempt to recreate the Sherry sections from the Resident Evil 2 Remake. The similarities were way too obvious, but without the same impact.* Leon feels heavily forced into the game for fan service and sales. His inclusion feels less natural and more like Capcom knew that putting Leon in the game would attract players. Instead of making his role feel meaningful to the story, it often feels like he was shoved into the game because he’s Leon.* The story is weak and doesn’t feel logically constructed. Some of the plot ideas are genuinely difficult to take seriously. The whole Alexia Ashcroft storyline especially feels like a huge stretch. Alexia adopting a girl created by Spencer as some kind of way for him to atone for his mistakes? And then revealing that she isn’t even Alexia’s biological daughter? That connection felt completely forced and unnecessary to me.Overall, Resident Evil Requiem feels like a game that relies heavily on nostalgia, familiar characters, and references to previous Resident Evil games instead of creating something that stands confidently on its own. There are definitely moments I enjoyed, but the inconsistent gameplay, repetitive sections, forced fan service, and weak story made the experience much less enjoyable than I expected.4/10 — 40/100.
