I seriously don't understand what people enjoy about this game. More power to them, of course, but I seriously don't get it. Maybe it is my fault for playing this after playing Super Mario Odyssey, but this game's controls are atrocious. F.L.U.D.D. always feels like it is compensating for how bad the controls are, rather than feeling like something built to complement them like Cappy did. The soundtrack is also mediocre by Mario standards, though there are songs I do enjoy (this is the main reason the score isn't as low as it could be). The setting is also kind of boring in my opinion and the voice acting is... certainly something... Overall, it's simply a bad game in my eyes. I 100% it and I do not recommend anyone does the same.
One day, I was playing this game and my sister walked into the room. She looked at me and asked: "Why are you smiling?". It was only then that I realized that I was smiling. That's what this game does to you. Masterpiece.
Pure bliss. One of the best games of all time. Story, characters, gameplay, soundtrack... that soundtrack man... Everything here is perfect. Well... except for Okumura's boss fight..... But I can turn a blind eye to that. Masterpiece.
I originally abandoned this game after finishing every charater's chapter 2 due to the repetitive nature of the gameplay loop but I decided to pick it back up and I am glad I did. Not every story is great and some do not stick the landing properly, but the ones that do are great. Couple this with an amazing battle system and art style, along with one of the best soundtracks of all time, and you've got a really good (yet flawed) game. My main complaint and what made me lower the score by a point is the (actual) final boss. The way the stories were loosely interconnected is fine with me, but the final boss should be just that: a final boss. Instead, it's a superboss, that requires VERY careful planning and/or an excruciating grind. I did not bother trying to defeat it for those reasons, nor do I recommend anyone do it. It is a blemish on an otherwise interesting finale.
Similar to Age of Calamity, this game prioritizes fun over anything else. However, unlike that game, the alternative story told here adds more to the overall lore than that game ever could, while presenting a far more interesting "what if" scenario. The Fire Emblem aspects of gameplay are also woven in much better. The only disappointing thing about the game are the endings, which make it seem like the budget had run out, as they simply end instead of being proper conclusions.
A hard game to review since the different routes deserve different scores. As such, I will focus on the route I played first, which is also the best in the game: the Blue Lions route (Golden Deer deserves the same score but the other two do not have the same quality). Amazing story, with an incredibly well realized cast of characters. The monastery was a great addition to keep the battles from getting boring all the way through, though the maps leave a bit to be desired.
An amazing story, with well realized characters, that is unfortunaly brought down by shallow gameplay that does the cardinal sin of feeling like filler in a videogame. I also have mixed feelings on the ending but I understand its purpose and respect the developers for going for it (even if they completely betrayed it in the following game).
Despite having a high-quality production, with amazing graphics, performances and even a decent musical score, TLoU2 completely misses the mark on its most important aspect: the story. The narrative is completely disjointed, with the "two sides of the story" aspect being terribly executed. Abby is just not an interesting character and acts solely as a plot device to try to get the player to feel bad for what they did in the previous game's ending (whose entire point was that the developers weren't going to tell you how to feel, by the way). The player is also expected to just accept plot conveniences for the sake of the story working. All of this coupled with a gameplay that, although slightly improved, remains shallow like the first game's, makes for one of the worst "games" I have ever played.
Great music, tracks and gameplay make this one of the best Mario Kart games around, even if it has since been outdone by its Switch enhanced port (Mario Kart 8 Deluxe) and sequel (Mario Kart World).
Despite the noise from the usual crowd, Mario Kart World is still a great step forward for the franchise. With new mechanics and an open world to be freely explored, MKW shows why Mario Kart is still the best kart racer series around.
This DLC has essentially two parts. The first is fun if you enjoyed the main game's battle system, where you are discovering the hyperspace mechanics and unravelling a decent story with amazing surprises for long time fans. The second is a grindy, boring slog to complete the Pokedex. Despite taking more time to complete when compared to the previous dlcs (around 50 hours versus the previous' 40 hours), it has far less content than those, with a much bigger focus on grinding the same content over and over again. If you enjoyed the main game's battle system like me, or you are a shiny hunter, then this dlc is still fine for you. However, even then, it is absolutely not worth the asking price. I got it for around 30% off and I still felt it should have been cheaper. After such a great main game, I expected far more than this.
Like Legends Arceus before it, Legends ZA shows why this sub-series is the best thing Game Freak has come up with in the past few years. Amazing gameplay, characters and music, that are only brought down by a mediocre setting. Lumiose City does not achieve what Jubilife Village did before it, despite being much bigger. My actual score is an 8.5, but decimal points aren't allowed. Still, a great game and definitely worth experiencing.
Incredibly fun game, with a great roster of characters. Due to the repetitive nature of the gameplay, it risked becoming boring after a while but I believe its runtime was exactly as long as it should be. It does have one problem, however, being its story. Making it non-canon was not the right move. Still an enjoyable time nonetheless.
An amazing story that should have been told in a different way. Needing to play through the game three times to get the full story is fine in my opinion, but the second playthrough feels completely unnecessary. There is barely any new story for a 10 hour stretch which will result in many not sticking around for the third playthrough. The gameplay is good but feels lacking compared to other Platinum developed titles. Still a great game, but one that I do not enjoy as much as others did. Consider my rating an 8.5 (decimals aren't allowed)
A reinvention of what mainline Pokemon games could be that was very successful in what it set out to achieve. From the story, characters and Pokemon, this game was what Pokemon needed. Jubilife Village also shows that Game Freak can still make incredible towns/cities, which had been their biggest problem in the previous mainline game (Sword and Shield).
It's... fine. Kitakami is a very boring area, despite the gameplay still being good. The story is good and surprisingly dark, though Kieran's arc feels forced.
Good, not great. Better than the first part of the dlc but not by a lot. The story is just not good, most of the Terapagos plot was very clearly cut and it suffers for it. The gameplay is very good, however, with the Terarium being the best area in the whole game, with a great variety of Pokemon and amazing callbacks to generation 5.
Despite not reaching the highs that the main series reaches in its best games (Dread and Super), Metroid Prime is still a very enjoyable game, that shows that the metroidvania genre can work just as well in 3D as it does in 2D.
Making a sequel of one of the best games of all time was always going to be a monumental task but the Zelda team pulled it off. Despite sharing the same base world, this and BotW feel like completely different games, with very different gameplay loops. While BotW focuses on discovering and interacting with the world around you, TotK is about what you do in that world. I do admit I still prefer BotW over TotK, but that does not take away from the masterpiece that is the latter.
Not a good game by any means but severely underated by people that don't take the time to understand it's systems. The matches become quite fun once you start playing against better players. However, it takes a while to get there, and the game is still very barebones in terms of content. Fun for a few weeks, but that's about it.
Decided to give this game a try due to the reviews it was getting and I am genuinely baffled by how good it is. I usually hate these types of games, I think Animal Crossing and **** Valley are incredibly boring, but this is special. All the systems work so well with each other and the Pokemon aspects are implemented perffectly. It is now 100% worth getting a Switch 2, even if all you want to play for now is this game.
