ryan reynolds go away challenge. and dwayne too. my god hollywood is this close to self destructing in real time and if it does life will be fantastic

This movie tries to do character development by using extremely unnecessary and jarringly slow scenes mostly composed of the extremes of either drawn out speeches or small actions or but it ends up being tepidly overlong and characters are portrayed stifilingly lifelessly and by time the runtime has elapsed you will look back on a two hours which are worse than boring or droning - actively unenjoyable to watch.

This would be average if not elevated by the choreography and Keanu Reeves' amazing acting. The structure is also too predictable, with the best fight sequence right at the start then long breaks, sporadic fighting and a gratuitous and gruellingly boring ending fight. But the gore is well done and the hand to hand combat is impressive.

Great until the final act where it fell apart cos of some weird climax I didn't understand about football and some artificially crafted points scoring. The screenplay was mostly good except Bradley Cooper's mother had rubbish dialogue and didn't even need to be there, just parroting other characters. She also looks exactly like that Incredibles character. Up until the end though, it was great, with great acting for almost the entire runtime. Bradley Cooper got robbed because Jennifer Lawrence actually won best actress. If anything it should've been the other way round. It would have been an 8 but the ending verges on poor. And oh my god. They say the word "excelsior" so much.

I guess it didn't have the surprise factor the first movie did. It is full of clichés which it often sends up but in a similar manner each time and plus, this doesn't exactly excuse this. It was OK until the beginning of the third act in which it tries far too hard to tie the fake world to reality and in the process breaking the illusion and creating a lot of confusing plot holes and breaking the rules of its universe. There are still a good number of decent jokes but they are all very similar. Also, I love Richard Ayoade but voice acting is not his calling, and the same with Tiffany Haddish, who is for some bizarre reason in literally everything. Oh, and the songs are pretty rubbish. They tried too hard to make another "Everything is Awesome". Too much of the humour consists of different levels of being meta, also adding to the confusion of the movie. I was underwhelmed, and the third act was far too drawn out. The vast majority of real life scenes should've been cut entirely, the number in the first movie was great. The cinematography in the live action scenes was pretty pisspoor but probably because it is an animation studio, which is why I think there are too many of these. It does have redeeming features though and the humour keeps it afloat. I still think this far it has been overrated.

Incredibly poor start to 2019 by Netflix. I haven't hated a movie this much since Dog Days. There's a mountain of plotholes, poor cinematography, horribly non-linear and confusing editing, often abysmal direction, trashy acting and poor writing, including dialogue. I didn't want my first review to be a 0 but it is. Watch Bandersnatch instead or something. How this was an English-language release confounds me. Even the intro is a rip-off of James Bond. The plot is also really bad, and sometimes the editing is so choppy it just jumps time mid-scene.
