This was my first Final Fantasy game on my PC. One of the CDs also had the "Eyes on me" song besides the data track. The junction system took a while to get used to, and it punished you for overleveling by making the bosses stronger as well. Looking back, the story was a bit lackluster, but it was a fun ride. Player made patches for graphic fixes and trainers also made it interesting by changing up what skills your party had, or what GFs they had and when.

With the monitization of mods, I can not recommend this game. In Bethseda's defense, taking 1.5 times more than a service that hosts your software to download makes sense. However, since Valve takes 30%, it leaves creators with only 25% from each sale, and they demand that modders must make $100 USD before receiving any money at all. That means for a modder to see any money, they have to sell $400 worth of mods before even seeing a dime. The current paid mod workplace is filled with cash for gold, overpowered weapons and armor, stolen content, and various mods designed to break your game to force you to reinstall. Overnight, Valve has destroyed a community that was driven not by "money as information" but goodwill and user feedback. Bravo.

This is what giant robot sim games should be measured against. Excellent joystick support, using the mouse to target the hit locations at the same time as well, actually falling over if you take too much damage all at once, salvage.... the list goes on and on. The music fits the game nicely, and in terms of BattleTech universe history, places you in one of the more important battles in the series. The only negatives I think there are: calling in the mobile construction vehicles to repair and rearm during a mission multiplayer turning into an artillery sniping match on several maps not being able to salvage and pilot vehicles without any mods. The expansions are well worth checking out, too.
