UPDATED 18/11 At first I would definitely have pushed an 9/10. But now, I am extremely divided between whether MiHoYo wants to create a favorable universe to all kind of players, or is completely obsessed with money. After initiating my critical awareness and thinking three times about it, I realized that something is very wrong. Never forget this is a Gacha and sadly one with the worst possible rates and very expensive, those who enjoy the world at its full potential are the same ready to spend thousands of dollars, or the luckiest free to play players, and yet they tried to target a larger audience? Lel. Who thinks as a free to play player, that farming a whole month for nothing when it comes to pull Gacha for new content was a good idea? Do they hate us that much for not paying enough? Before going to the positive stuff we have to speak about the negative content. - Terrible rates. - Pity system not so pity. - Cannot target lock. - Cannot skip cutscenes... (lucrative reasons). - Cannot reroll secondary stats with the artifacts (for example we could use resin to reroll secondary stats). - Artifact sets do not have the same drop rate within dungeons. - Artifact sets drop rate terribly unbalanced (one set may loot too much often than another), as it’s not hard enough having the right main and secondary stats. - No global playing time indication. - User ID always shown at the bottom right corner. And now for the good part! An amazing work has been done to the universe, it is a pleasure to explore what the world has to offer. The characters are very charismatic, weeb oriented design and yet really well developed in their story and personality! The voice cast is really good and for the first time of my life I have a preference for Chinese dub in a video-game! The freedom of movement (walk, run, swim, and climb) with the fluidity of the animation powered by Unity Engine makes it a true pleasure for exploration and the rp aspect, and did I mention you can soar in the air with your glider? The variety of artifacts and weapons gives you the opportunity to make diverse loadouts to maximize firepower of your party. You can coop with your friends for much more pleasure! In conclusion, the game could be compared to a jewel stuck in a haystack, the hay is the Gacha, remove it or improve it, and there you have your 9/10 game! But for now (although it's a pain in the ass to say that) there is no way it can score more than a 7/10.

A mobile-first masterpiece wrecked by awful rates in horrible Gacha system and un-optimized port. There is an amazing work done for the story, character design and soundtracks, but if you intend to make competition in high-scores or even having optimized characters without paying just forget about it. There is no-way you will ever achieve this unless you're sole ambition in life is to remain for years on the same Gacha unit... what most people don't do nowadays because they tent to change their horizons when blatant and persistent issues are discovered. Although the action-rpg side is very satisfying, remember that the game came from a mobile-first design and thus making it's game-play quite redundant... which leads to boredom even with cute characters. The game also has terrible fps drops when it comes to certain areas or extreme battles (lots of visuals fx). Another negative aspect is the amount of currencies in the game, and there is no way new players won't get lost in the tremendous amount of simultaneous events... This just wants to make me quit forever... Nevertheless, the game is still worth playing especially on good mobile devices in my humble opinion, as long as you don't fall in the vice of gambling.... Cute but... Pay to Win and Farm to Gamb... *This concerns the GameForge version of the Game. If you enjoy farming to be rewarded, Soul Worker is definitely not for you. To get optimized, you have two choices, be a whale, or waste thousands of hours (at this point of the game it might not be enough). - Everything in this game is RNG even ranking depends on it at some points, since mobs must not commit specific patterns in order to keep a good timing. - There are crucial items required to enhance equipment which are not farmable, like strength extension tickets or protects, building new throwaway alt characters is not called farming, it's called breaking the mmo rules (and for the worst, sadly). Most of the time you will make those alt-characters for nothing, without any result, any progression. - Card system (AR Cards) is the icing on the cake, it is clearly pay to win material, a scam almost as blatant as Fate GO's Gacha Gambling. *Events in GF's version are most of the time unrewarding and worsen the previous points, unless they screw up with their maintenance, giving unfortunately a decisive advantage to a fraction of malicious players. + PvP is fun (but unbalanced). + Graphically using Vision Engine, which is a kinda old engine but it does the job for a mid-poly anime game like Soul Worker. + Every class is unique and has it's own game-play and story line, the plot isn't great but is not bad either! You might become attached to certain characters! The protagonists, action rpg style, combat system, skill rotation, voice cast, makes the game fun and smooth to play, unfortunately this is a facade, the issues mentioned at first are too significant in the long term, and you should strongly consider them before getting addicted. If you feel attracted to the playable characters, consider yourself overall lucky in mmo's, and doesn't care in GameForge's terrible QoS then you might have a good time, otherwise there is no way I can recommend the game. *6/10 at launch (Feb 2018) *4/10 currently (Sep 2020) 7/10 for overall KR/JP versions.
