Fall8

It’s a great movie. Requires a lot suspension of disbelief as the whole situation is extremely implausible, but the plot happened regardless so whatever. The suspense itself was really nice and the twist was really well done. Great movie. About a 7.5, but the haters are not giving it enough credit so I’m giving it an 8. Sue me.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning2
Jul 9, 2022
The only thing mature about this movie is the acting. The rest I can't imagine being enjoyed by anyone past the 13 or some sick sadist. It was quite literally just random gore with no symbolism, no coherent storyline, no logic. Just an over-the-top blood soaked mess. I know what you're about to say:"B-But horror is supposed to be gory!" Yes but there are movies that do this better and still have a competent writing such as Hatchet.

It's pretty good. There were some pretty good scenes towards the end. I don't see how anyone to hate it.

Happy Death Day8
Jun 26, 2022
It shouldn't work at all given the premise, but Jessica Rothe is far too good at her acting and keeps you engaged throughout the movie

Happy Death Day 2U10

I think am one of the few people who will say this but this movie is quite the masterpiece and a near perfect sequel. Truth be told, I like it better than the first although that might be recency bias.

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension5
Jun 19, 2022
I was actually impressed. Paranormal activity is probably my least favorite franchise ever. Why did I keep watching? Because they're usually so bad that they help me fall asleep. I'm being serious about this. However, this one and 4 managed to keep me up for the whole run time. The plot is somewhat interesting and I enjoy seeing the main characters figure out what's going on. It also helps that there are tangible things happening for once. This in contrast to the first three where nothing happens the entire run time outside of the ending. I've waited so long for this and FINALLY I got to see something and get some sort of closure on the plot that seemed completely scrambled until this point. So why did I give it a 5 if I supposedly liked it? Because it's only good in relation to the other movies. In reality, it's still a really bad movie to where a giving a 5 is being generous. The acting is...well...a paranormal activity movie. Outside of the concepts introduced, it's still extremely predictable. The main characters also sick as usual and really hard to root for. The parents are terrible at their job as my mother/aunt/father would have whipped the skin off me if I behaved like Leila. Also they're cowards. I get they are afraid of ghost, but 10 junpscares in, you have to get over yourself and need to get down to business. Also the script itself is its usual Paranormal Activity stupid. As every scene past the 30 minute mark becomes fustrating as the characters make so many stupid choices. It makes you want to scream at the TV. This is especially a problem in this movie because the characters (at least the camera guy) are pretty smart when it comes to plot things. So their smartness in digesting plotpoints clashes with their awful decision making. The effects were fine. Overall, should you watch it? Yes if you want to watch a paranormal activity movie and actually see things happen other than cabinet number 7 open by itself. No if you want to watch an actual good movie. As for me. I'm just thankful I could stay up and watch the movie for once.

Freddy vs. Jason7

A lore Trainwreck for both slasher franchises, but good movie. Arguably the most enjoyable Jason

It's a normal slasher films with a higher budget and somewhat likable characters. That alone makes it one of the better movies in the franchise.

A Nightmare on Elm Street5
May 30, 2022
Meh, I guess it was okay as far as horror remakes go. The story was okay and the effects were great, but my biggest was the characters. The acting was decent as far as I could tell, but the characters are all around worse than the characters that they are remaking. Especially Nancy as she went from one of the boldest final girls in slasher history to some crybaby who has mental break downs just looking at Krueger. It really **** since it's almost impossible to have a good Nightmare movie without a strong protag. At least Glenn is a useful character in this version. The atmosphere was there but the music wasn't. There were a noticable amount of potholes and questionable writing choices, but that's something inherent to all nightmare movies. Overall, I think it's a fair one to watch if you're binge watching all the Nightmare Movies. However as a remake, it's pretty flawed, especially in the comparison of the masterpiece that is the original.

Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday2
May 22, 2022
This should get a 0 because as my 4th grade teacher used to write:Stay on topic. This movie masquerades as a sequel but is entirely irrelevant and quite honestly shouldn't be considered a slasher film. I understand that people were complaining that F13 movies are too samey, but no one (not a single person) asked for the entirely lore of the franchise to be retconned. They wanted a new movie. Not a new genre/series However ignoring all of that, it's still a pretty bad movie. Too many potholes, random anime blades, unexplained information and the middle meanders despite being on the shorter size. While the love interest wasn't boring as they usually are in F13 movies, she was annoying. This isn't me just blindly hating the movie however. Its highlights are genuine highlights that are too hard to ignore. It's the first movie with ACTUAL good actors for once. The main character was endearing, the bounty hunter man was a cool guy and the love interest was well acted. The problem is that the writing gave them nothing to work with as their script/concept was pretty dumb. The beginning with the twist before the credits was really cool and I loved the effects. Plus the last 15 minutes were actually a 9/10 movie. Overall, 90% of its faults have to do with the horrendous writing even for an F13 movie. Whoever made/okayed this script/direction should be fired in all honesty. Everything else was pretty good and would've made a legitimately good movie in other circumstances, but the writing/script/concept was ACTUALLY that bad.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness8
May 18, 2022
A phenomenal movie for sure and manages to blend a classic MCU movie with horror. Amazing effects, story and twists BUT 1)The movie was more of a Scarlet Witch movie. It had more to do with Wandavision than any other movie, Wanda was the clear star of the film and truth be told everyone was there to watch Elizabeth Olsen. 2)Because it was a Scarlet Witch movie, Dr. Strange became more of a side character who jobs on everything short of a fist fight despite clearly being powerful. He had some character development, but could probably do have had some more. 3)It didn’t really answer anything. This wouldn’t be an issue on its own, but phase 4 is starting to become too much now. So many lingering questions from Loki, Wandavision, Eternals, GotG 2, Chang-Chi and everything else…but barely anything was added. Instead, it just doubled the amount of questions pretty much forcing you to watch every single next entry in hopes that you’ll watch every single movie, show and whatever else for the next 10 years of your life. I guess it’s entertaining but still it’s getting ridiculous…and I say this as a major MCU fan who enjoys post credits and YouTube theories.

Friday the 13th4
May 13, 2022
Meh. It's essentially Halloween 1978, made by someone who doesn't understand Halloween 1978. Also it doesn't have the charm and enjoyable silliness of the later movies. I would've given it a 2, but the last 25 minutes were amazing. Oh, and the music is good.

Sleepaway Camp8
Apr 15, 2022
An interesting movie. At first it appears to just be a Friday-the-13th knock off, but it is quick to distinguish itself into a weird slasher who dunnit. Maybe I'm just someone who likes camping movies, but I felt pretty immersed. Although the culprit is pretty obvious, the suspense around it is amazing. Also there were a lot of interesting characters which is a rarity in the slasher genre in general. As for the ending, it's probably the only movie that's left me disturbed in years. I am not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing.

Moonfall6

This movie gets too much hate. It's not that great of a movie from a narrative standpoint and the lesson is questionable at best (Listen to your crazy Holliw Earther uncle, because he might be right one one these days. Really? As if there aren't enough conspiracy theorists out there during the Covid era..), but it's quite enjoyable you turn your brain off and want to enjoy some Really impressive effects and ultimately dive into the world of absurdity for ~2 hours. The second half is absolutely, unapologetically bonkers and I loved it. I'm sorry, but I can respect a fun, ridiculously high budget popcorn movie.

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter7
Mar 23, 2022
I have no idea why this movie got rated so low by critics. It's exactly what you expect from a Friday the 13th Movie. Killings, nudity, teenagers with questionable acting and decision making that all end with a chase scene. Maybe slightly cheesy, but that's part of the enjoyment. My only real gripe is the titling. It's obviously not the last chapter. In fact, it's not even the halfway point. It's deceptive marketing.

Halloween (2007)8
Mar 21, 2022
A 9/10 horror film that should be admired by everyone. I love the aesthetics, the gore and the perversion in the movie. However, this is about as similar to a Michael Myers Movie as Halloween 3 was. Rob Zombie doesn't seem to understand Michael Myers at all, but it doesn't seem like he cares. Instead, he made an entirely new character that only shares the same name and vaguely the same night as the original Michael (for better or for worse). Also it's nice to see Daniella Harris back, although it is arguably off putting to see the former ~8 year old become an extremely graphic and horny teenager. Ignore the seething reviews around. They were just expecting "le suspenseful, slow burner" copy of the original instead of a Rob Zombie movie.

Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare2
Mar 17, 2022
Terrible and nonsensical movie. Terrible acting on all fronts, more retconning and the plot is both borong and predictable. Just like the other post-Dream Warrior movies, only now there's WAY too many one liners going around as even the protag has them now. But hey, if you've been watching this long, you have no right to get upset. Would be 0/10, but I'm giving it 2 points for at least creating an ending for this washed up, low quality, zombie of a franchi-

A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child4
Mar 16, 2022
Freddy's "resurrection" wasn't explain well (or at all really), but that's about it. The plot is inconsistent and Freddy's power scaling at this point wavers more than a DBZ character. That said, It's definitely an improvement from the atrocity that was Dream Master. It's effects and acting is what you'd expect from a Nightmare Film assuming you watched the other sequels.

Halloween III: Season of the Witch7
Mar 14, 2022
Definitely an enjoyable movie, however, I can see how Halloweens fans would be bitter if they didn't known in advance that there was not going to be a Michael Myers. The plot itself is interesting and unique, but there are certainly some rather notable potholes that should should been addressed
