Flintlocks biggest problem is that it's just so soulless. It's a game you start to play and feel absolutely nothing. The gameplay is bland and feels like something you played dozens of times before. The story couldn't be any more uninteresting and the characters are instantly unlikeable. I really wonder who this game was actually made for.

The game features a beautiful artstyle with amazing animations that give it a really special charme. Cartoonish humor and I love the idea of having a social media site, that tells you what to do, instead of a bland mission log. But in terms of gameplay, the game sadly falls apart. The hitboxes and hit detection in the game feels outright broken. This makes combat feel more irritating, than fun.

While the graphics and the world are still quite nice, the game is packed with questionable gameplay elements, making the game not fun at all. Combined with an atrocious performance, playing Dragon's Dogma 2 is just torture. It plays even worse than the first game. I don't get how this game got so high reviews from journalists, for me this is one of the worst gaming experiences I had so far this year.

Never really played Danganronpa, but a big fan **** detective story and of course anime. The game offers such an unique, fun and creative way to solve cases. Packed into an interesting and atmospheric world that I can't help but want to explore and uncover its secrets. While there are characters that can get annoying, most of them are pretty likeable and memorable. Overall, the game can get so weird and random, but is also so unique, charming and creative. This alone makes me quickly forgive criticisms like annoying loading times or that some voice actors are far worse than others. Definitely one of my gaming highlights this year.

This game just hurts. I'm the last person to say no to a decent vampire game so I was looking forward to it. But after spending several hours with it, I don't even know where to begin with what is wrong with it. Some of the worst controls I experienced in the last couple of years. The world feels empty and lifeless. Only 30fps with the ugliest motion blur I have ever seen. And my god, this game is ugly. There were better looking 360 games! Boring cutscenes made mostly out of still images and dreadful one-liners from the characters, that I even desperately tried to turn off. Always online is a joke, especially in singleplayer. What's even worst, when you play solo, you can't even pause the game! In general, shooting enemies gets boring pretty fast. In conclusion, the game is unfinished, lifeless and gets repetitive pretty fast. The game needed at least one more year of development and even then it would have been nothing special. And the worst thing, it makes me worry about upcoming Xbox games like Perfect Dark or Fable.

The game really is a mixed bag. It has its amazing sides, but also its awful sides. The best thing about this game is the gameplay in itself - especially the combat. Due to this new violent gore system, the combat is incredibly satisfying to play. But at the same time, the game feels like a step backwards from the first game, because e.g. due to the smaller areas or the lack of driveable vehicles. Also some of the side quests were dreadful. But if you want something brainless, violent entertainment for some couple of hourse, you can't go wrong.

I was so excited for this game and expected some charming, little adventure that will be a hidden gem. The trailers at least looked promising enough. Now I'm baffled how bad this game turned out to be. The performance is horrendous, it's a joke that a game with these simple graphics and small, empty world can't even maintain 30fps. The gameplay is somewhere between boring and annoying. The way the character moves is just irritating and you do barely more than just collecting mushrooms and take on missions that often feel more like mini-games. The combat also doesn’t feel very good. And what the hell is wrong with the music? Rarely have I heard such an unfitting soundtrack. It’s even worse that the game seemingly just has a hand full of songs that play over and over again. Plus it definitely sounds like stock music. Long story short, a huge disappointment. This game feels more like a prototype, than a real game they want the same amount of money like e.g. Hi-Fi Rush

As a huge Fatal Frame fan I'm so happy we finally got this game. It may make some things different than the other games, but this kinda also make it one of the better games of this series. It features some of the best spooks in any horror game I have played (no loud an cheap jumpscare, more subtle stuff), the atmosphere is amazing, probably the best story of the whole franchise and I really adore the soundtrack. It may look pretty outdated and have clunky controls, but this can be expected from an old Wii game. If you can handle a horror game that plays a bit slow, this won't even be an issue.

If you like to check off the same four of five activities in an open-world while fighting the same enemies over and over again, this game might be something for you. Valkyrie Elysium is an entertaining game, with a strong focus on fighting. And the battles are also the game's great strength, they are incredibly fun and feel very satisfying. In the end it's more of a linear hack'n'slay like Devil May Cry, than a full JRPG. Which is fine by me. Sadly, the game also suffers from technical issues, like some annoying framedrops and pop-in of objects in the distance. But by far the biggest complaint is how short the game is. The main story can easily be finished in under 10 hours and the side quests aren't that interesting either. But in the end, it's a really fun game you can really enjoy, but it's something you finish, move on and forget about.

This is clearly a game you can only get something out of if you're a fan of the anime/manga. The developers cleary put effort into turning it into a fitting video game. It's also really cool to explore the Abyss by yourself. However, the game gets really boring and repetitive pretty fast, especially once you realize how shallow the game's mechanics are. Basically you run from the entrance of the level to the exit, which most of the time only takes some minutes and on the way you collect resource, to refill your hunger and kill some monsters along the way. That's all. Visually the game is also really poor, there were better looking games on PS3, it looks more like an upscaled PS2 game. What's even more annoying is, is that you are forced to play the story mode from the anime, before you are allowed to play the new storyline with your own character. This is incredibly annoying, when you have to sith through exactly the same story you already know, before you are allowed to see something new. Why did anyone think this is a good idea? So the basic idea for a good game adaptation is there, but the result is just so shallow, boring and has a really cheap feel to it. If you are a fan, it's maybe worth a look when it costs around 20 or less bucks, but just don't buy it for full price.

As a fan of the Shadow Warrior series, I'm sadly more disappointed with the long awaited third game than anything else. Especially it has it's positive sides and these sides are amazing. The combat is fun as hell. It's clearly copied from Doom Eternal, but it works and is amazing. The game is also beautiful, also because the whole art direction and enemy design is great. And Lo Wang as a character is as fun as ever. But these good sides are cleary overshadowed by its downsides. The biggest one is that the game is incredibly short. You can easily finish it in under 5 hours. Which is almost a joke considering its price and how long the two previous games were. In addition to that is that the whole game feels like it could have been more. You basically just run from combat arena to combat arena, with small plattforming sections in between. The game is as linear as it can be. No secrets, nothing to explore. Even the also linear first game had big levels you were free to explore. But in this game it's just sad. What's also sad is how simplified and reduced the melee combat is. Slaying the demons was always a satisfying highlight in the previous games. But here you only use the katana as some sort of skill to kill smaller enemies to get ammunition - exactly like the chainsaw in Doom Eternal. On top of that I encountered a game breaking bug, in which I respawned at the wrong checkpoint and a script didn't load anymore so I was unable to progress.

This game could have been amazing. The combat is awesome and a lot of fun. The story, setting and lore is also pretty interesting, exploring the Tower of Babylon would have been something I would have been really interested in. But the whole game is ruined by this forced online and game as a service stuff. You can't even start the game without having a PS plus subscription, even though it says you only need it to play in coop! On top of that, the game slams microtransactions in your face, despite charging $70 for the game.

This is really juts a watered down version of Disgaea. It really feels like the game wants to be played like an idle game, where the game basically plays itself. It can be fun, but it also becomes boring pretty easy. The story also appears to be like a confusing mess. But by far the worst thing is the technical side. If you want to play with the "good" graphic settings, the game has such a poor framerate, the term slideshow is not an exaggeration. So you have the option to turn on the performance mode, but here the resolution of the game is so terrible that it's sometimes hard to make out any details. And the **** goodness, the controls. They are nothing but a clunky mess. What did I like about this game? Well, I really liked the characers and the interactions between them. Those can be really funny and the humor is great in general. And if this is your first Digaea, the game may not be that bad. But even then it's more mediocre.

Legend of Mana sure is a charming and beautiful game with a unique mechanic. Playing all these tiny stories may have made great little adventures, but the game suffers from one fatal problem. It has aged horribly. The controls are clunky, hit detection is a mess and, as unique the core mechanic of the game may be, it's utterly confusing. This is a game that would have needed a full remake like Trials of Mana. But this remaster just does too little and what is left is nothing more than an antiquated relic ****, that needed more than just a slight polish of its visuals.

A superb return of the legendary series that definitely was worth the wait. It brings back everything I loved about SMT, like the surreal world, great music, the dark and occult themes, crushingly hard difficulty and the motivating demon collecting and brings it to a new generation in a great way. The only downsides come mainly from the technical limitations of the Switch, but don't hurt the experience at all. As a huge fan of SMT 3 Nocturne, this is definitely my game of the year.

I was worried that this game would turn out to be another soulless copy & paste licensed anime game that is just smashed together to get easy money from the fans, like for example My Hero One’s Justice. Since I was a big fan of the anime & manga, I still had to get it and I’m gladly fairly surprised. My biggest complaint is the story. If you don’t know the source material, don’t even bother. You won’t really enjoy the story. And for the fans, well it’s the story you already know. And that’s a shame, they really missed the chance to tell a new and original story, some sort of side-story or something. But still they have done a good job adapting the story into an actual game. Instead of having just the fights and cutscenes in-between, like in a lot of these games, you actually have sections where you can explore surprisingly big areas, collect stuff, and do tiny side missions. That’s what surprised me the most. The fights themselves are what you expect them to be. They are not groundbreaking, new or innovative, but they are a lot of fun and look amazing. And I think the most fun comes from trying out all these characters you know and love, find out how they play and just finally control them for yourself. The graphics are phenomenal. I would even go so far and say that this is easily one of the best-looking anime games ever made. While the anime already looked incredibly good, they have done a perfect job translating this into a 3D game. Sadly as amazing as the graphics look, so stiff and odd are the animations. They look just not really polished and are a bit of a contrast to the overall great graphics. But in the end, this is a surprisingly good adaption. If they would have made an original story and not just retold the already known story, this could have been easily a 10/10 for me.

While it's not the worst game in the Alien franchise, it's definitely the most disrespectful. And in that regard I would consider it even worse than Colonial Marines. It doesn't even try to come up with something original. The only original stuff that was added is the most boring and generic you can think of. It basically just takes stuff from the movies and other Alien games and slaps hem together into a boring and loveless game. What makes it even worse it that the movie this game takes most inspiration from is actually Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, which are known for messing up the lore. It doesn't help that the game is a pure shooting gallery, where the Xenomorphs are really nothing more than cannon fodder rushing in masses. It's even worse than in Colonial Marines and the Xenos here are even dumber than in Colonial Marines. When it comes to gameplay, the shooting is at least fun, but in general the game just feels so dated. It's just your basic 3rd-person shooter of which there were already more innovative ones during the times of PS3/Xbox 360. Boring, outdated gameplay. Disrespectful to the Xenomorph as an antagonist. And it ruins the Alien lore even further by referencing Prometheus and Alien: Covenant too much. At least it's playable and looks good.

Aug 24, 2021
Rating Biomutant is not easy. It feels like on most things it does well, there’s something it does bad. For instance it’s a very charming and unique game, where you can really feel that the developers put a lot of effort and heart into it. On the other side the story and especially the structure of missions are really unoriginal and get repetitive really quickly. Heck, most of the side quests are just like this: go to a certain place, activate something by always solving the same puzzle and then get an item, you will never use. Combat feels on the one hand really smooth and fast paced. But it can get really annoying sometimes due to the lack of basic features, like manually locking onto enemies. And believe me, it will happen a lot of times that the game locks onto enemies you don’t want to attack. Character development is basically really cool. Create your own mutated creature, choose which environmental dangers it is resistant to, decide whether you are good or bad and decide if you want to unify all tribes or become the sole leader. But all of these mechanics are really shallow and always feel like they get deeper at some point, but it never happens. But in the end, it is still kind of fun to play. It has a big, beautiful and detailed open-world and lots of content. It’s really more or less a mediocre game. But if you like it more or less than that really depends on you individually. Especially if you like exploring open-worlds, you will definitely like it more.

I was actually surprised how well this game is made and how much production value it has. This is definitely not a cheap license game. This is basically a full JRPG with trading card duels instead of some sort of combat system. Beside the main story, you can roam freely in the world, accept side missions, talk to NPCs and challenge most of them and of course build or upgrade you deck. And building and upgrading your deck is a lot of fun and motivating. If you like other card games like Yu-Gi-Oh, you will like the card duels here as well. I admit that I haven’t seen very much of the anime, so I didn’t really know the characters beforehand. But in the game, they are mostly likeable and it’s fun interacting with them. However, the game is not perfect. On the one hand it looks really good for a game like this. But this comes at the cost of the performance. The framerate can dip at some points and the areas are rather small and separated with annoying loading screens. And although it’s mostly fun, the game can get a bit monotonous.

On top of that the whole game is such a brilliant parody of anime like JRPGs and Shounen Anime. There's constantly stuff that makes fun of these, but in a really funny and charming way. It's basically a JRPG that makes fun of JRPGs. My only complaint is that it's really short. It can be finished in around 10 hours. Basically this game could be a masterpiece, without a doubt. It has a great atmosphere, superb sound design, it looks and runs really good and the design is also great. The story is in its core interesting, but you don't get very much of it. Most of the time a dialogue here and there. And the most important: it is fun as hell. It's really fast and can get addictive. Due to its rogue-like nature, the game is hard, but when you finally beat a boss, it is one of the most satisfying feelings. But there are problems. Yes, the game is fun and **** the first couple of hours. Until you realize that the gameplay consists of nothing more, then running from room to room, shooting the same enemies over and over again and collect items. And this is not a short game, which means that it certainly becomes monotonous at some point. After 20 hours I'm still far away from the ending, but I have the feeling I have seen and played enough. The hard difficulty brings another problem: it's not only frustrating, but it also gets really unfair all the time. A lot of death don't feel like they were your fault, more that the randomizer gave you useless items and spawned enemies in the worst way possible. Especially later, there will be enemies that are just infuriating and a chore to fight. These are at least for me points that prevent that I give Returnal a higher score. It is sill a great game, but these great aspects come with drawbacks.

Gameplay wise, it's just a chore to play. The game just feels so incredibly slow and clunky. Every action you do feels like they happen with a noticeable delay. What wouldn't be that much of a problem, if you could skill your character. Your character is too slow? Just level up in points that make him move faster. But no, Mortal Shell doesn't feature a skill system, like basically all other Souls-like games. You can only buy predefined abilities. One of the best games in the Resident Evil series. It takes, what made RE7 good and improves the right things. The setting and locations are really cool and remind in the best ways of RE4. The game gets a bit cheesy at some points, but those scenes are feeling less disconnected to the series, than some parts in RE5 or 6. My only complaints are that the controls feel a bit stiff and heavy and that the game could have been a bit longer. I finished it in 9,5 hours. This may be relatively long for a Resident Evil, but it felt like it could have been a bit longer, without feeling that it's overstaying its welcome.
