I think "The Originals" is great for a spin-off. It has some of the best characters from its mother show. Most of the actors are great actors and are very believable. I also love the fact that the antagonists and the protagonist (who was an antagonist on the Vampire Diaries) are not 100% evil or good respectively; I believe that is more like the reality of the human nature, no one is 100% evil all time and are capable of kindness sometimes, and there is always a reason to why someone is "evil" no one is born evil; and the converse is true no one is a completely good all time; so I love the accuracy of the portrayal of the human or used to be human nature. I also love the more mature plot and themes of this show compared to its mother show. However, the show did take a couple episodes to set up an interesting plot, but the plot it started setting up seems very interesting and definitely holds your attention and makes you think.

Reign is pretty good for being a historical drama on a network that does not usually do historical dramas. The plot is wonderfully setup in the first episode, with its hinting at mysterious supernatural creatures and/or events that are to come. The acting is pretty good; I have seen better, but the characters are still a little believable. However, I, being a lover of history (especially ancient history and pre-modern times history), am slightly bothered by the few historical inaccuracies other than the ones that are there to make the plot more interesting, which the real story of Mary, Queen of Scots is interesting without any tweaking anyways but I understand the need for CW to make it more interesting for its target audience; but the other inaccuracies take away some of the believability of the show for me. This show is great entertainment though, and the CW does a pretty decent job trying to throw in some accurate historical references and events in a show that is in a completely new genre than any of their other shows.

The show is ok; but it is not one of the shows that I have to watch every week and schedule time to watch, but is one I will watch if I am not busy and there is nothing else on. The acting is pretty good, especially the children's acting. However, there just is not a lot of interesting things going on in the plot; and while it does contain comedy, there is not enough to hold your attention for half an hour The kids have most of the funny lines of the show, so maybe if there are more scenes with Kate and the kids the show will be better; but the show is not bad for a half hour comedy that airs after all the main shows on network tv.

The show is one of the better shows on tv this fall! I love the special effects, there is just the right amount so it looks realistic. I love the references to the marvel movies, but the show does not depend on them and the ones that it does depend on are explained for viewers who have yet to see the movies. However, the plot can be cheesy, cliche, and predictable at times.
