Take the worst level from Sonic 2, and make a whole game about it. Worst Sonic game on the Genesis, no questions asked. Unless you enjoy a slow and tedious game of pinball, don't touch this one.

It's pretty fun, albeit basic. For mobile standards, this is one of the better games you could play. Probably a good game for the toilet. Not a must-have, but still good.

A simple enjoyable beat-em-up with a surprisingly great plot behind it. If you enjoy simply flinging characters into walls, this one's up your alley.

It's utter cartoon chaos from beginning to end, and I absolutely love it. Simply for the amazing squash and stretch, this one will leave you easily entertained.

Episode 2 was a step in the right direction before Sega cancelled the 4 project. Better levels, better physics, a nice Advance 3-styled team mechanic, this one ain't gonna blow you away but it's also not offensive either.

A disgusting waste. Sonic 4 makes me FAR more appreciative towards Sonic 2 and 3. Between it's physics, the level design, the music, this game doesn't deserve that number and never will.

A god-awful excuse for a sequel with no substance. Sonic Advance 2 takes the first game, and throws out any of the good parts and invites some of the worse parts in. "Hold right to win" has never applied more than here, this one is a miserable waste. Skip it.

Sonic Rush Adventure is tedious, bland, and over-dependent on filler. Don't even bother with this waste, or it's predecessor.

An awful remake of a 16-bit classic. Play the original, or any other port instead. This one is not, and never will be worth your time.

A straight-forward Classic Sonic remake. This one's not gonna shake the earth, but it's alot better than most of the other 2D titles. Check it out, you're likely gonna have a decent ride.

Bland, outdated, and lacking any of the style or substance from Sonic's later boost titles. Aside from one or two good songs from the soundtrack, this one's a straight pass.

The REAL Sonic 2, Sonic CD takes everything that made Sonic 1 work and expanded it. A wonderful Japanese soundtrack, level design that stays consistently challenging and encourages exploration instead of speed, and the introduction of the instantly iconic Metal Sonic. Sonic 1 and CD are on equal terms, and a must-play for Classic fans.

Forces is about what everyone says it is. Basic and uninteresting level design, Classic physics that feel like a s s and a story that reaches the level of borderline clickbait, play Sonic Generations instead. It's basically this game but done right in every aspect.

Sonic 1 is everything it's sequels failed to be. A game. Through level design that focuses on smart momentum usage instead of constant speed and slopes (thank god) and a challenge that's definitely tricky to overcome, this is the best that the 2D games get, and I stand by that.

Sonic's first 3D adventure wasn't quite the success story of Mario 64, but it's still a fun ride no matter the controls or gimmick. Give this game a shot, maybe you'll like it.

Two gameplay styles of pure joy, amazing set pieces, gorgeous remasters of past stages and music, please do yourself a favor and play this one. It's the best game the franchise has to offer.

Charming, fun, full of memorable characters that never stop entertaining, and a return to form for the Classic style. The soundtrack also slaps so hard, man. Unless you're sensitive towards slippery controls, this one's an underrated blast. Check it out if you please.

A huge downgrade from SA1 that starts off good and quickly goes down the drain. The story is a complicated mess, the gameplay stops being fun after Green Forest, the soundtrack is bland, just play the original instead.

Sonic Adventure crafted great Sonic controls which could've been improved on but never did. Between the distinct and iconic music, the fast and insanely fun gameplay, and the surprisingly decent story, Sonic Adventure is a must-try for any Sonic fan.

Sonic 2 doubles down on Sonic 1's weaker aspects, and crafts a truly miserable experience. Awful enemy placement, bad level design, questionable gimmicks, this is everything a sequel SHOULDN'T be.

Soulless, no substance, no passion, and no reason to exist. Sonic Mania is a disgrace to both the Classics, and the franchise as a whole. Play Sonic 1 or 3 instead, they won't waste your time or your patience.

Sonic 3 has the recipes to truly improve where Sonic 2 faltered, but stumbles due to it's speed-dependent level design and lack of any real challenge. Unless you want a constantly fast Sonic game with a really good story to back it up, I'd suggest steering clear of this one.
