I neglected to review this film for a long time because I believe one must see it a great number of times before one can fully make sense of it. After seeing the film three times and theorizing for a great many hours, I finally feel ready to confront my worst nightmare, or dream. Inception gives us a very unique plot that does, granted, have elements of other blockbusters, however it's framework is still utterly unique. In a nutshell, Dom Cobb is the most skilled extractor in the world. This means that he is the best as going into people's dreams while they sleep and navigating these dreams in order to steal secrets. However, he and his team are proposed an interesting job that may give Cobb a chance to finally return home to his children. That being, Inception, the act of planting an idea rather than removing one. From there it's up to Cobb and a number of charming or interesting characters to delve into the world of dreams and prevent a new superpower from arising. First off this films biggest advantage is it's theorizing and presenting new complicated ideas. After seeing this film you will undoubtedly begin scratching your scalp in an effort to figure out what on earth it all meant. The great thing about this film is that you will, at many points, think you get it. You will be certain that you understand, but then something will happen and suddenly, you don't. I had to see this film multiple times in order to even begin to understand it. If you buy this film, don't rent it, buy it on DVD and watch it as many times as you need in order to believe you fully understand. I promise you, it'll be pretty damn difficult. In order to go into depth on how confusing this film is, let me tell you what you're in store for. In order for inception to be possible, you must enter the subject's dream. Simple enough. Then someone within the dream must have another dream, creating a dream within a dream. Then, someone within that dream within a dream must have another dream, creating a dream within a dream within a dream. Hoo. As you can imagine, the results are quite spectacular. The next best thing about this film is the special effects and the action. While the gun-play is nothing special, one particular scene involving a hotel corridor and gravity rotating is something that I still cannot process, even after sitting down and taking some Ritalin. While most of the action is good, the special effects are some of the most impressive ones that I've seen as of yet. While they don't exactly scream realistic, they are mind-boggling. I can't describe much, as my vocabulary is only human however this film does contain a large area of Paris suddenly folding over and collapsing on top of itself, creating an enclosed box world where gravity changes based on which surface you stand on. Yeah. Another excellent thing about Inception is the score. I wouldn't normally praise the soundtrack of a film seeing as how it really is only a thing on the side that merely contributes to a film's feel and mood, but I'm sorry, Hans Zimmer has outdone himself with the soundtrack to Inception so much that I have trouble understanding how he did it. Each and every song is unique, fitting, spine chilling, and most certainly makes the film even better. A really noticeable thing about all of the songs is that they all begin with a tune, which will be added to ten seconds later, then added to again, and again, until the same few notes are bursting with variety and chills. I would highly recommend looking the soundtrack up on youtube, look for "Dream is Collapsing" in particular. However what almost took the top spot on this movie's excellent diorama of pros is the main character, Cobb. His character itself is nothing special, however throughout the film his past of being affiliated with extraction, inception, and a character called Mal, is hinted at and eventually explained at the end, and the explanation and how the ending plays out is something truly marvellous to behold. It is brilliant watching the story's hints and nudges come together into a delicious ending pudding before the film makes it's brilliant conclusion. One thing that I must touch on however, is the strength of the final ten seconds of the film. I won't spoil them, however this ending is what gave this film its rating. This ending is what gave everyone that last spot of fuel, that last little ounce of information to finally make the mind collapse in on itself and for you to turn to your film-going companions and go "WHAAAAAAAAAT!?" And this small difference is what makes Inception what it is. Inception is, probably, my new favourite film of all time, and a film like that deserves this. Inceptions scores a 10/10.

Godzilla movie review Long ago in a dark, dark time known as 1998, a film was brilliantly advertised as being a remake of the original Godzilla movie, making it dark, realistic, and have political undertones. What did we get? A slapstick comedy featuring baby Godzilla slipping on gumballs and Matthew Broderick saying “That’s a lot of fish.” So naturally fans were left rather annoyed, and left feeling that their beloved king of the monsters wasn’t being paid enough tribute in modern cinema. And sixteen years later director Gareth Edwards saves the day with his movie “Godzilla” Normally I would talk about the plot in this paragraph, but I really can’t. Half of the experience of going to see Godzilla is really being unaware of what’s going to happen, and so I’ll only give a very brief look at the plot. Joe Brody (Brian Cranston) works at a nuclear power plant, and on his birthday his wife (Juliette Binoche) comes with him to the plant in order to help him with some problems. While there they discover a string of odd radioactive spikes and then blah blah blah Godzilla. I really can’t explain any more than that. This movie’s biggest advantage is its buildup. Godzilla himself only shows up in the last half-hour in the movie, and so the other hour and a half is spent mostly around Brian Cranston’s character and his son Ford Brody (Aaron Johnson) searching around nuclear sites and trying to track down whatever is causing these odd radioactive spikes, and rousing these mysterious other monsters that a certain king of the monsters may throw down with near the end *wink*. The tone that this film sets and the overall feel that it creates is astounding, and is very much up to scratch with something like Jaws or Flight of the Navigator. Its all extremely interesting to watch, seeing how governments and scientists react, how the military reacts, etcetera. However this film’s negative (notice how it only has one) is sidelining Brian Cranston’s character for his son. Cranston is an infinitely better actor (one scene of his I’m determined to get him nominated for best actor) and his character is the one that we were most attached to. Pushing him to the side for a character that is a cold, military soldier with a “Let’s get the job done” attitude was definitely a poor decision. But what’s a Godzilla movie without a gigantic lizard destroying the city? Not much, and when Godzilla does appear in this film he is truly fantastic. He is brilliantly CG’d, his scale is brilliantly portrayed, and when he is scrapping with the other monsters he is scrapping HARD. The final fight contains what I would like to say deserves the “Best Kill Award” from whatever silly organisation would grant such a thing. However, a complaint that people have is that Godzilla is teased too much in this film. I completely disagree, as keeping Godzilla’s fighting for the last little bit of the movie made it far FAR more impressive. It’s like having a steaming hot lobster that looks like the most delicious thing you’ve ever seen served, but you aren’t allowed to eat it for half an hour. So this delicious meal stares at you, making you lick your lips in anticipation more and more every second. And when you finally are allowed to chow down, it tastes oh, so delicious. So in conclusion Godzilla is easily a contender for best picture this year. It has excellent build-up, flawless acting, and a final fight scene to blow any other film’s climax out of the water. For any lover of action, monster, or any darker movie in general, Godzilla is a must see. Godzilla scores a 9/10.

This film is so, so much better than it is credited for. It has an incredibly interesting story, the most realistic CGI that I have ever seen in any film, and the ability to make a non-speaking ape the most interesting protagonist of any film this year. The story is extremely well paced, it has great build up in which characters are set up very well, and gives us some very interesting early scenes. But it's all left in the dust when our hero Caeser is introduced. This film manages to make a character who doesn't talk be extremely relateable, and oddly enough very well written. His transformation from quiet city ape to a crazy one hell-bent on an uprising is handled exceptionally well. The CGI in this film is, by far, the best in cinematic history. Why? Because the apes look real. There were so many moments throughout this film that I thought the apes were genuinely there. There was a moment when my father asked if they were animatronic, and upon hearing of them being CGI he was blown away. The only real downside to this film is James Franco's acting. He's acted well in other things but unfortunately here he makes his character very bland and boring. But that doesn't matter seeing as how he is not our hero. All in all Rise of the Planet of the Apes is one of the greatest films that I have ever seen. The story is interesting, the CGI is flawless, the soundtrack is brilliant, and our main lead is one of the most well written characters we've seen in years. And so, if at any point you have to choose this over just another Michael Bay or some other egotistical **** overblown action flick, you should always choose the Gorilla tackling the helicopter.

This film is quite clearly a shoe-in for the best animated film of the year, if not this decade. It captures just as much charm, action, drama, and outright brilliant moments from the original, and then some. It captures the essence of what a fantasy film really is, and that's a film that makes you think; "Yeah, I want to be that guy!" or "I wish I had that." It holds up not only as a film that will enthral children, but also one that will leave those of all ages, even critics who've had their emotions locked away in a cage made of The Godfathers and Citizen Kanes gasping for breath while watching a film with damn good action, far far better action than the original. It tells the story of how someone as nerdy and unpopular as Hiccup from the original can become something so, so much more. It made me realise that our world is not just a large green rock that we have to suffer on. Its a plethora of opportunity from which any situation could spring. And so, How to Train Your Dragon 2 is a masterpiece. See it if you haven't already.

This movie receives too much hate for what it is. It is my favorite of the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy (yes I liked it better than 2) It has the best dialogue out of all of them in which Maguire no longer is contented with a blank stare, and in my opinion has the most relatable and interesting villain of them all, the Sandman. His birth and eventual redemption are some of the most powerful I have ever seen in a movie. It has a huge array of memorable moments, and for one reason or another, I rather like the dance scene. Its well choreographed, is full of very energetic performances, but I can definitely understand why people were disgusted by that scene. But in the end, is it really enough to bring the entire movie down to unwatchable status? No, this movie is an incredible experience for any Spidey fan, just be ready for a cringe fest when emo-Peter begins showing his moves.

Ang Lee's take on the Hulk story is clearly the superior cinematic film adaptation over it's remake The Incredible Hulk. This picture takes groundbreaking CGI, a very odd and rather refreshing comic-book-esc editing style, and a very well written script and characters in order to create a top notch action film. It really does the colossal badass Hulk a huge justice by showing Banner in his own, more human story and then taking the Hulk himself and putting him into some kick ass action sequences. It's a must see for any fan of superhero and/or action films, or just anyone looking to have a grand old time with a few friends.

In my opinion, this is almost the ultimate Spider-Man experience. It has fantastic drama, emotion, the characters are relateable, and the action is flawless. Electro is an amazing villain, but doesn't steal the spotlight much from the other villain, Harry Osborn. (We aren't mentioning Rhino) And, in my opinion it holds one of the best handled deaths in cinematic history. That moment in the film is perfectly paced, sublimely acted, and is most assuredly the highlight of this film. For any Spidey fan, this film is a must see. The only real negative to it is that one or two things are a little sloppy. Other than that, this film is, undoubtedly, amazing.

I cannot stand modern critic's hatred for family comedies. This film has plenty of laughs, emotion, and outright charm to keep a family continually coming back for more. The acting is great, the laughs are outstanding, the characters memorable, even the emotional scenes are very well done. The kids in this movie actually do a very good job. My only real criticism is that the emotional scenes are packed in rather tightly near the end, but other than that this is an outstanding family comedy, and one that I shall come back to time and time again.

This film is, without a doubt, the definitive cinematic Spider-Man experience, for people who are into all genres and of all ages. It has excellent over-the-top superhero action, pee-your-pants humour, and best of all, by far the best Spider-Man villain, Doctor Octopus, who is wonderfully portrayed in this picture. Maguire is the perfect Peter Parker, Kirsten Dunst does a top job as Mary Jane. My only real criticism of this film is that a lot of the dialogue is rather weak, and a large amount of the extras are rather unrealistically sterile. But all of this makes for an outstanding superhero film, and one that I would be happy to come back to time and time again.

This movie had everything it needed to be a timeless classic, it had great action, excellent special effects and CGI, outstanding creature designs, but in the end none of this gets enough focus. Why? Because this movie is just TOO short! 90 minutes is not nearly enough to squeeze in all of the excellent things this film has to offer. This movie feels a lot like Lord of the Rings, the soundtrack, the creatures, a lot of moments almost felt like the same ones from LotR, but it's Lord of the Rings if the entire trilogy was squished into 90 minutes! I would love to see another film or remake that takes this and extends it to a good couple of hours.

The Gha is certainly receiving a lot of applicants this month. Tell Mr.Frankenstein that I'll get back to him shortly, his gift shall be harnessed as a weapon against or enemies. *Wink*

An absolutely wonderful movie! Very powerful, very touching and all-around extremely enjoyable! The songs are also very memorable and awesome! One of my favourite 2012 movies.

This is one of the single greatest films I have EVER SEEN. I shall scream the praise of this movie from the peak of the highest mountain, let it be known, THIS MOVIE IS FREAKING AWESOME! But the gold CGI needs a touch up.

I am addressing the following post to all those who hated The Hobbit. Die. Go and die a horrible, horrible death. I can understand that some people aren't into fantasy and the Middle Earth universe, but that is no excuse for hating such an excellent film. A big complaint about the film is that it's being dragged out, and that a 300 page book is to small for three 2.5h+ films. They are making them this long because they want to include the appendices from The Silmarillion, so that it's explained better for someone who hasn't read the books. Another big complaint was that there was too much CGI. And to this I say, some films are made of nothing but CGI, and yet nobody bats an eyelid at them. Also, the CGI gives a lot more potential to the films, in the fact that you couldn't have a giant goblin with a scrotum beard without CGI. Everything looks a load more like you're in a place where not everything looks like a human, and that the other races in middle earth don't have to have the same features as man. Also, the complaint about all the gimmicks, to do with 48fps and things, that's understandable, but don't hate the film over it! It's like **** released a below average DLC, and someone stopped playing the game over it. Just don't use it if you don't like it! Also, some people complained that it is too slow, and to that I say this. Django: Unchained had a runtime of 180 minutes, WHICH IS LONGER THAN THE HOBBIT. And for me, Django dragged on, The Hobbit FLEW by. And the final complaint was that it wasn't as good as Lord of the Rings. Just to clarify, The Lord of the Rings has been considered as one of the greatest cinematic achievements of man, and The Hobbit hasn't even had the other two films in the series released yet. So, if you see anyone online, or in real life, who is debunking or saying this film is terrible, just send 'em this post. And tell them that "Gay" Isn't a valid criticism. Thank you for your time.
