This game surprised me. It reminds me of Pathfinder, Pillars, Divinity, and Baldur's Gate games, but it's as if those games were made during the 1980's, complete with retro, EGA/8-bit graphics and the synthesized MIDI soundtrack, but no voice acting. The imagery, lore and overall dark vibe of the game seems to be inspired by Lovecraft. If you have fond memories of Ultima or other CRPGs of that era, please give SKALD a try. I think you'll be as pleasantly surprised as I was. I knock a point for the controls, which I feel could use some refinement.

If you have fond memories of early point and click games from LucasArts, you will enjoy this game. It has strong Monkey Island / Sam & Max vibes. Loco Motive is every bit as good as those beloved series. I deducted a point only because I feel the character designs feel a bit bland compared to their zany personalities. I would've like to see the characters even more stylized. Otherwise, this is a phenomenal game! @ Developers - please make more games like this!
