Joker10

There's little to comment negatively about this movie.
It's a well-made character study movie of someone suffering from mental issues caused by mental health and society alike. So don't expect an action-packed movie, but a slow "character growth" (more likely regress) movie, but one that is surprisingly well-paced most of the time to not get boring. Joachim's performance is amazing, to a point in the movie where the character becomes more self-absorbed and confident and you can almost say it's a different actor playing the role. I've heard some calling his acting exaggerated, it's certally not, at least not in the majority of scenes. (the movie does a subtles, yet kinda smart trick where some scenes are from the main characters' POV and not the actual real POV of all the other characters; this is done with a subtle reveal near the climax of the movie) It's a gritty depressing movie, but there are a lot darker, violent and depressing titles than this one, to a point I'm starting to believe American media has a serious problem by calling this movie controversial. There's nothing controversial about this one, the Joker is not glorified nor blamed, he is just shown as he is (as a good movie should do), the movie does not force a point of view letting the viewer draw a conclusion (as a good movie should do). The directing and cinematography are very good. There are scenes that look so great visually and evoke a specific feeling very well. The soundtrack is spot on. You definitely have to see this movie. But go in with patience, it's not a movie to digest when tired or bored.

Aquaman7

I know people want so much for DC getting a win, and Aquaman is imho the best cinematic current univ DC movie, but the movie is just mediocre. Pros:
Momoa is a good casting choice and brings flair to the character. CGI are top notch and some of the scenes are visually stunning. There is a fight mid-movie which was excellently choreographed and shot. Writing is decent first half. Cons:
Momoa and Amber have a few scenes in which he looks so bored and out of character. The story is bald in the second part. The reveal near the end with his mother is so far-fetched and takes away all the tension. Not only that but Aquaman's " I don't care" attitude makes it lack any tension. Last fight is exactly the opposite of the previous fight I mentioned in terms of quality. Mera and Aquaman relationship is forcibly written. The villain's plot is a joke (I'm not referring to the brother), if you take all his screen time out, the story would be exactly the same. --
Bottom line, the movie never excels at anything, except maybe CGI. It's a decent movie, I think fans of the character will love it, but other than that, it's way too overhyped

Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi10

TFA was a horrible movie, hate it and almost made me not see TLJ. TLJ is a good movie. The plot isn't riddled with deux ex machinas. While I almost fell asleep at TFA, TLJ kept me pumped up until the end, the reason: the plot is not predictable (at most of the times), character actions have good and bad consequences (not just good as in TFA), the plot is fresh not a rehash of an old SW movie, characters are more compelling, acting is better, music score is net superior, cinematography and directing is astonishing (there are still frames I want as wallpapers). The movie is not perfect. A big part of the flaws is from what Jar Jar created in TFA: boring rebellion plot, Luke the hermit, Snoke the boring Palpatine, etc. Also, the jokes sometimes are cringy. But overall , TLJ earns is name as a SW original movie

Blade Runner 204910

A lot of people complain about the slow plot. Well, the first Blade Runner had a slow almost non-existent main plot: Deckard hunts for some replicants. What made it a great movie was the atmosphere, visuals, and philosophical implications. The movie conveyed exactly the same feeling like the original Blade Runner. The thing is, cinematic techniques evolved. A movie carbon copy of Blade Runner released today won't give the same feeling like back then. And it's amazing Dennis managed to capture that feeling with this sequel. He truly is a master of the craft While seemingly the film lacked a final "The C-Beams Speech", it actually didn't, because it started with one, "never witness a miracle" The movie is great. It's slow, but I loved it this way, because a fast movie will make all the visual go to waste. Just don't watch it tired or as an action flick. While the plot line is not his strongest point (neither was the first's movie) it's still engaging, fresh and it doesn't keep you bored. Enjoy the movie as it should: a visual experience

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story8

It's great and how should a SW side story be. The story is solid and logical when compared to the mess ep7 was. Visually it looks great. Score the same. The lead character is not a soulless perfect hero like Rey so is interesting to watch, and the supporting cast was nice even though a little more moments with them would've been nice. Overall a good movie.

Mediocre movie, grossly overrated because feminism is cool atm. Same old cliches other superhero movies with male leads face: deus ex machina ending in which the hero faces a vastly superior foe but with the power of love/friendship finds in himself/herself so much strength to overcome; weakly developed villain that does villainous things, but stupidly implemented just because the plot; merry squad because somehow always there's a great group of people out there ready to sacrifice for ideals; slowmow fest; forced humor etc The film's not bad otherwise. It's the best DC movie to date and has a great cinematography and decent acting and SFX. Also, I love how it focuses on small mundane moments to make the characters more as normal humans.

Logan10

Is it a dark movie? No
Is it a brutal gore movie? Not really
Is it hardcore R movie? No This is what makes Logan great, it's not a brutal violent emo dark story for the sake of R rating. It's a sober, violent and non glamorous movie about a man. Because finally we don't have Wolverine, we have Logan.

Captain America: Civil War10

I was starting to lose hope in superhero movies. But finally Civil War restored it. I was tired of dumb on dimension superhero plots with a mad supervillan, this move has a smart setup, quality action and good acting. Smart dialogs and plot make the actors shine. It felt like a good comic book, where the action is not the main highlight and it's not all about CGI and who has the biggest bad guy

Deadpool10

Best superhero movie for the moment. Deadpool is like a superhero movie should be: R rated, action packed and without sissy childish hero saves everybody drama. Since I was getting sick of Disney childish approach, specially after they made Star Wars for 8 year old kids and mentally challenged, this alongside Jessica Jones and Daredevil, is proof that superhero movies can be good movies. Now let's break it down: ~~ Plot : Since it's a deadpool movie, I never expected nor wanted a philosophical story. The plot line is mediocre, but without being filled with deus ex machina as SW7 is. Which makes it enjoyable. Also the story telling technique used is great, managing too keep the pace between slower story scenes and action/funny scenes. But where the movie really shines is where it should: it has funny jokes and greatly paced action scenes. ~~ Image: GCI is what you would expected for 2016 movie. Also the direction and use of still frames and lighting is great. Not Revenant "level", if you would wanna compare with a recent movie, but above any other MCU movie. ~~ Sound: Great soundtrack and sound mixing. Not Guardians of the Galaxy "level", but still, great. ~~ Acting: All actors do a great job and you never feel bothered by awkward acting even from the extras, like in Captain America or Green Lantern. Also you can see it's a passion project for Ryan Reynolds, because he is as good as Deadpool, as Jackman is Wolverine. ---- Bottom line: If you're a fan of deadpool or like marvel comics in general, this move is for you. If you're looking for a comedy, this movie is for you. If you're looking for a mature superhero movie, this movie is for you. If you're looking for anything more than action+comedy then this movie isn't for you. If you're looking for a romantic stereotypical hero movie this movie is not for you. If you like children movies with 8 year old plotline like SW7, this movie is not for you.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens3
Dec 21, 2015
I don't understand the over inflated score this movie has. I believe people want so bad this movie to be good and they turn into zealots because of this. On short, this movie is beautiful visually. The acting is the best so far in the series and natural. The pace is steady and funny moments are well balanced. The sound is above average, mainly because it tends to become predictable in toward the end. If a movie would be defined by only by those things, this SW would be a solid 9, maybe even 10. But its not. A movie is a visual novel. And the story is terrible, so terrible that I felt bad how dumb and force it was. The characters lack depth, and the inner conflicts are pathetically expressed on screen. They exist just to showcase fan favorite concepts and to form a narrative that is a remake of episode 4. At this chapter this movie is bellow Hanna Barbara level.
