I think this movie is fun and breezy and completely enjoyable with a few really good laughs. George Clooney and Julia Roberts are just a joy to watch together - two charming, beautiful, funny total pros on screen together again!!

Saw this movie on IMAX in 3D. Maybe the most amazing visuals I've ever seen. The sense of actually being in space was breathtaking. If you've ever dreamed of being in orbit yourself, it's worth the price of admission. The story was a little thin, but it was still fast-paced and compelling until the last frame. So beautiful to look at I know I'll see it again while it's still in IMAX!

I liked this film a lot more than the critics did. Not nearly in the class of the original with Dustin Hoffman, which is a classic, but still fairly entertaining. I thought the male lead was miscast, and lacked the goofy everyman quality of Hoffman, who played an average guy who has to show a real character arc. This chiseled actor could have played the hero or one of the bad guys, so the director/producers/execs (who knows who to blame nowadays?) seriously misunderstood the material. Still, a good 'B' movie. A good bad movie, as I like to say.

I walked out of this film after about an hour. It's well shot, edited, acted, **** CGI is really good, the vistas are occasionally **** it seemed like it was part of a Chinese series that I wasn't familiar with, and so I became bored. It was like watching an Indiana Jones movie when you didn't understand any of the cultural references, so the goings-on seemed disconnected and empty. Not enough action, intrigue or suspense from my point of view.

A real disappointment, given a good director and such a good cast. Just very mediocre all the way around, starting with a premise that his been done before (Outbreak, The Andromeda Strain), but those films showed more imagination and established more compelling relationships between the characters. It's good filmmaking, but not a great story.

This is a fun romantic comedy, with a few really good characters and a nice feel to it. Ryan Gosling's character is especially well-written and acted, and Steve Carell, who I usually can't stand, gives a performance that actually borders on resembling a real human being, as opposed to his usual mugging for the camera. Worth seeing if you like this kind of movie.

My kind of movie: smart, fast, extremely well-directed and acted...just a nice, tight piece of work. The kind of movie I will see twice just to catch all the interesting set-ups and nuances. A very talented director doing a complex piece of work on a very reasonable budget - definitely worth watching director Duncan Jones' career develop. Terrific score, production values and cinematography. Good script. A few logic holes and some script issues later - I would never spoil anyone else's movie experience, so no specific complaints here. To sum up....okay, I kind of loved this film, noting it's not perfect. But go see it. It deserves the **** really does.

My favorite part of this movie came when I needed to go to the bathroom during a sequence when the main characters are walking through a forest. Music is playing, they are walking through the forest saying nothing, and I thought, "This movie is really slow and that diet coke has worked it's way to my bladder - time to go." So I went to the bathroom, checked my e-mail, listened to my phone messages, then walked back in to the theatre. They were still walking. I'm not kidding. Now, I'm a fan of Buddhism, I've been to **** this movie bored me to pieces. It has ten minutes of interesting spiritual/conceptual stuff, stuck in a loooong, sloooow, movie. Pretentious people will love this movie, because it will make them feel smart for liking it. Smart people will rent the dvd and watch it at ten times speed.

I gave this movie a three because it did have some moments. I thought Owen Wilson was pitch-perfect as the shallow but good-hearted pitcher, and Jack Nicholson was his usual charismatic self. But what really sunk this movie was the script. Brooks never seemed to care about the central plot, involving some kind of securities fraud that is never precisely spelled out, so the audience is completely lost as to what the central jeopardy is. Brooks makes the mistake of focusing entirely on the romantic subplots, so the film feels rudderless and empty. There were a few **** all in all I thought this was an extremely lazy effort from writer/director Brooks.
